Yeah, he can fight back against guests and callers. And is a good interviewer but shy away from controversial topics. And also I get sick of him always pushing his far-left,ecumenical liberal agenda and still find it a bit 'off' how some kind of deacon is so into subjects of porn, drinking, weed, rock music, and sordid "true crime" tales. But I guess he is trying to be "hip and with it," Phil Hendrie reference.  ;)
Yeah, I'm not down with his liberal crap and, along with it, the usual elitist attitude, but he does put on an entertaining show.  l wouldn't mind seeing him take Snorge's place.  Maybe that's one of the reasons he came back.  Unfortunately, I don't see Snorge leaving until they drag him away.  Doc Wallet, the woo woo women, and the numbers nut can breathe easy.

THE JAMES STRANG TALE
In 1843, James Strang, a lawyer and atheist, converted to Mormonism. In the wake of the murder of the sect's leader, Joseph Smith, Strang unveiled a letter purportedly from the prophet naming him successor, and persuaded hundreds of converts to follow him to an island in Lake Michigan, where he declared himself a divine king. Joining Ian Punnett (Twitter), journalist Miles Harvey unveils this fascinating but forgotten story and gives us an account of one of the country's boldest con men. In the first hour, UFO investigator Kevin Randle will comment on recent news of the Pentagon's knowledge of 'vehicles not made on this Earth.'

Sounds like a pretty good show tonight.

Does sound like a good one.  There has been other weirdness on some of the islands in Lake Michigan as well, including a guy that had his own Pedo island long before Epstein allegedly did:

Interesting show. No way Norry could handle it.  Ian did a good job, even though he had some of his patented smarmy I-know-it-all manners smothered with heaping of praise for guest and mutual friends, and of course, his getting into politics (though like Norry he 'doesn't do politics' but it is clear his position and views.)

Heh, heh, yes indeed.  Good show and Ian is orders of magnitude beyond Noory.  He does way more than just show up.  You just have to tolerate his typical elitist attitude, common to academics.

Ha.  I was thinking to myself what it would have been like to have Noory host the show.  Lots of googling no doubt, leading to areas of questioning the guest had just discussed.  Of course the guest would only have been on a couple hours instead of three.

It would have been the usual suck fest with Snorge, with the stock questions, like "how many chapters in the book" and "how did you get into <fill in the blank>".  He might have gotten really deep and asked "were there a lot of trees on the island?  ::)

;D

The prepared questions would have been exhausted in short order no doubt.  The more I think about it, perhaps that's why the split-show format is entrenched.  Between his stock questions and of course the second hour callers to run out the clock, Noory is spared the burden of actual show prep.

It was refreshing to hear Ian have on a grounded UFO guest, Kevin Randle, compared to Knapp's self aggrandizing interview with Elizondo last weekend. Good to hear a host who will challenge a guest, compared to Knapp kissing the asses of those TTSA toads. And Randle is right, this latest NYT article is much ado about nothing.

Btw, did anyone else catch Knapp open that interview last week by saying he promised the History Channel he'd focus on their series "Unidentified."  Considering Knapp is on that series, sounds like a conflict of interest.  I'd also be willing to bet Knapp has a financial interest in TTSA, another conflict if true.

Clearly the NYT and FOX News tease regarding imminent UFO disclosure was to distract us from police brutality against the peaceful assemblies.

Yep, NYT and Fox News are always in lockstep when it comes to social issues.

Cue Art's ghost putting on a Bananarama hit as a bumper. And then segue to RCH talking about some crystalline dome on Venus.

Just listened to Ian's C2C show from last night, was really disappointed with the first hour guest who was billed as giving an update on DB Cooper.  Turns out the guy was a magician and Jake Blues tribute artist who only talked about Cooper for maybe 15 minutes.  His update revolved around a "cowboy" who claims to have helped Cooper after he was injured in his parachute jump, and then he named one of the longtime suspects (Walter Reca) as Cooper.  When pressed for proof to support his claims, the best the guest could do was say the cowboy had been questioned by a retired FBI profiler who certified the cowboy believed his own story.  Ian seemed bemused, but happy the hour ended.

I wish Ian would get the guest he's had on previously talking about Cooper, a guy who wrote a couple books on the incident.

The good Deacon had "roommates" who were magicians? He also thought the movie "Blues Brothers" wasn't good except when they were playing. This statement downgrades Ian in my book. He could've mentioned the several people, real musicians and singers, who were in the movie, even if he didn't appreciate the somewhat slapstick plot. Professor, so far, hasn't mentioned Cooper but talking pendulums and hypnotism.  The Deacon seems to believe in Divination, ok, but to promote it? Strange Deacon. But clearly the subjects are interesting to Ian than DB Cooper. He is always into music, spells, etc.

Guest won an award for "Radio Magic?" That was Art Bell. I seem to recall someone- Red Elk- even levitated on air. On radio. Like Bergen doing ventriloquism. On radio. That is stuff that really takes talent.

So many speculations and theories. Clyde Lewis has claims also as I recall. Here is one opinion of the Walter Reca theory.

This is the guest.

This guest sucked.  I thought he was going to talk about DB Cooper and have some insight.  It was awful.

You can tell Ian was doing his best to carry the guest and it was a real struggle.

I'm only interested in listening to a drunken Ian, aside from that he can go fuck himself.

ItsTelly

I'll have to listen more closely- has Ian been drunk while hosting?

I remember he called in to George to promote the show once and started talking gibberish.  That certainly wasn't alcohol talking...crystal if I had to guess due to its widespread availability...possibly heroin.

Ian Punnett is doing some open lines for the first hour tonight and Noory's "sad pack" is already calling in.
First was Thomas from La Jolla, and now its Annie from Alabama who called in just last night...

Ha!  Still superior to a Noory administration.

Punnett's guest tonight is a biblical scholar who's written a book about a guy who tried to peddle a forged 1st century Christian gospel. So with the topic involving the Bible I knew the man, the myth, the legend had to be waiting on hold - Walt Da Atheist doesn't disappoint.

'Ian dis is an entertaining show tonight but science has made all dis stuff moot. Charles Darwin wrote Origin of the Species just a century or so ago, only a hunnert years after our founding documents da Declaration of Independence and da Constitution. Deez ancients were da veritable naked ape, they made up these stories to explain how they got where they were and where they were going.'

Ian got his back up, pointed out to Walt that there are people who attack Darwin because there are gaps in his theory and things unexplained and his attack on the Bible wasn't much different.

Heh, heh, heh, yeah, that was pretty amusing, as opposed to Noory’s usual clueless indifference.  ;D

I liked Ian’s “What does that have to do with what we’re talking about?”
George Norway would have better shows if he learned that line.

The guest had an interesting tale. Forgery and such is interesting.  I think some people, despite Ian's claims, have proven that 'peer review' is not always all that it is cracked up to be. The book seems intriguing and I might give it a read. I like/laugh that it won "National Book Critics Award," that suspiciously sounds like the various and sundry beer festivals that give brews like PBR an award.

http://www.arielsabar.com/

I actually hoped that Ian would've pivoted the interview to go after the author's family history because an Aramic speaking Jewish family who emigrated to the US would be an interesting story- but I guess this actually was his earlier book! Ian's rant against Hannity was funny and also how he admitted that the collegiate-promoted post-modernism and post-structuralism is now in his hated 'right wing' politics. The guest didn't want to bite on Ian's anti-Republican bait but just commented on about personal beliefs being one thing but in academics etc there should be testing of truth and such.

ps: I hope Mr.Lightfoot gets on tonight about Stephen King, at the behest of high-level Republicans, killed John Lennon. And elaborate the theory to more modern times and the revolution/protests/riots in the streets right now.

pps: it was the same Sylvia Browne, Ian, contrary to what the caller was claiming.
