Here it is this morning.  It's basically a bonfire pit.  Bonfires are fun, and seasonal -- midsummer was historically marked by riotous parties on the beach where effigies of witches were burned.

Yeah I was curious how they were going to burn a statue like that. They would need a blast furnace to melt it.  When I saw the initial post I thought they had some weird, temporary art piece made of wood or something. And like the Gävlebockenin Sweden that some vandal ends up burning down, which I guess is now a part of the tradition.

The people I first heard about it from talked about "barbecuing the elk" as though it was a thing, and I wouldn't be surprised.  But I'm curious whether Ngo etc. will show the damage or just let people assume it was destroyed and move on to the next outrage.  This is how you get chuckleheads like that guy in a pickup in bumfucksville all worked up about buses of BLM protesters showing up to molest their livestock.

No bail? What did he do? They bail out rapists, robbers, and molesters. These days they even let them go ROR often. And some places are eliminating bail all together for 'social justice.' And with Corona-Chan they are even letting out convicts in some places. But they lock up a public trumpeter with no bail? Portland is a microbrew type of place, I hope they are serving him fine mead there in lock-up.

I don't like burn bans. I once looked it up and there was an interesting codicil in the law on fires that- even during a burn ban- "ceremonial fires" are legal. I'm not sure who got that inserted into the law and why. KKK? Pagans? Vikings? Witch-burners? Indians?

You are right to draw attention to it, since it explains motive and behavior!  My reading of that line, upon weighing the circumstances and considering the context like a proper scholar, is " ELK ACAB", which I take to mean that they like the elk but that all cops are bastards.

I think he would be all for that but nearly every policeman he sees is the one who killed his friend, either out of delusion (he's supposed to be medicated for something that sounds a lot like schizophrenia) or out of the kind of logic they use to say that all cops participating in a corrupt and oppressive system are complicit in every bad thing it does.  Probably a combination of the two.

But that is not what I want either.  6 guys to take the Trumpet guy down.  Then they have to take him to the station, a bunch bureaucrats have to push a bunch of papers.  Then he goes to the cooler, gets cleaned up, fed healthy meals, givenclean clothes and probably some medic type checks him out and tries to determine why he is in a pyschotic rage because his chewing gum has lost its flavor.  So then he gets free Diazinon or whatever. There are attorneys and district attorneys and bailiffs and who knows what else.  It's a whole huge industry.  Baron and Konig knocking they guy down while worrying his throat and a couple of love taps from the Ray O Vac in the ribs. A chilling warning that you haven't seen the half of it, if you fuck up again and the problem is solved.  Likely forever. On the cheap.  Couple of Scooby Snacks solves the issue.
