Your argument does not address the fact they didn't have a national defense strategy...just, "they were poor then, but wealthy before and after," ...tsk tsk...bad argument...the Fins fought hard against the Soviets at least.
Finns fought EACH other and the Soviets! They are tough. Not racially Scandinavian, oddly. But good types. My comment about Norway wasn't an argument, really, but a statement of facts. They were not prepared and didn't have the resources and so it happened. There was good resistance and especially over the heavywater and helping the bombing of the Tirpitz etc. But I don't deny your point that small groups are/can be ideal but a problem when faced with more force. Personally, why I'm suspect of various succession ideas. By force, there could be ideas otherwise, devolution, etc.

Groups of. Partisans fought bravely...they were not supported nor endorsed by the Norwegian government...big difference.

I like politeness. I think causal is the "way to go." And just be nice to people. Say hello, Tip your hat, Open a door. Social mores and customs. Not beat downs or violence. But "causal." And I'm not against, actually advocate- within limits- shame and hazing, depending on the age and situation. We need more of this. Social Cohesion. Rights of Passage. Confirmations of Belief. Hey, call it Solidarity even! But clearly defined and not abused and appropriated to level of age and level. But not the Cancel Culture or brain a guy with a skateboard variety, but basics of Western Civilization, fair play, and Christendom.

Maybe I can get you on board if I say "shame the fatties?"

It's the whole police-brutality problem in miniature.  Nobody is saying all police are bad but it attracts a few power-drunk hotheads who get carried away and, because they are on a team, are tolerated far too long.  I have always said anyone who actually wants to be a policeman (or a politician, or a preacher) should be disqualified, for that very reason.  Civil societies err on the side of individual freedom even at the cost of letting crime go unpunished -- that's not modern liberal bs but goes back to the earliest juries -- rather than trust the discretion of enforcement and vague community standards.  Basic rule of law.

It's also why I think protests are stupid, though, as a technique, they seem to be adopted by both sides now.  You have the most extreme elements confronting each other and hosting the discussion which reduces it to childish taunts pretty quickly.

If such "farms" are true as posted it would seem the CHAZ utopia seems to be a Zimbabwe, in terms of production. Actually I'm a bit surpirsed that they wouldn't be focusing production on another weed. The Danish one did it and for a surprisingly longtime did it.

Quite intellectual...are you vacationing in Chaz?

Hell no they're all fat and ugly there.

Hmm he might be cute if I cleaned him up.  WOTR will note the tents; it's more or less indistinguishable from the homeless encampments already under the freeway.

Of course! The idea/goal is to rid the idea of rule of law. Logic. Everything is relative? A matter of perspective. Fitche and Hegel. Some would say Keirkegaard the source. Of  course it goes back earlier but fun times. My only problem is why we, as society, dispute and argue in a public forum or school instead of killing, rioting, etc?

Yes they are. Wake up! ::) ;D

And I suppose you think defunding the police actually means defunding the police, too.  I don't know why this is so difficult.

The funny thing about watching all of this is how close both sides are. Kind of like OWS. I think that even most conservatives were (are) sick of bail outs and watching trillions donated to the big corporations while a piddling (token) amount is given to individuals, small business or even programs.

Looking back on this forum, there have been a number of times when most posters were a little disgusted by police actions (resulting in the death of white and black individuals.) I think that most people are looking at "no knock warrants" and the militarization of police forces with suspicion. Hell, conservative groups should be the ones most concerned given what a militarized police force usually leads to. At least if you care for freedom and liberty it should be a concern.

However, most watch cities burn and protesters with a narrow set of demands and wonder what the point is. BLM. Tear down a statue like it is the problem. Burn the same businesses required for better living. I don't care what cities say about consequences (they can claim they are "defunding police" or anything else.) What it leads to is more of an "us vs. them" attitude and consequences over time of people wanting to feel secure in their person. That will mean police.

Even if by some magik they manage to pull it off in Seattle, in Missouri and Montana the residents will watch this on television, think "that might come to our streets" and demand more protection (which is not protection but an extension to the violent arm of the government and corporate masters.)

The fun part is that while these guys are screaming BLM and defund the police and are upset with a corrupt system, the Trump supporters are screaming "drain the swamp" and asking for change. Not every policy matches up. But both sides are closer than either wants to admit. Of course, for the MAGA people, the BLM are the devil; and for the BLM protesters, the MAGA supporters represent everything that is wrong with America.

No, I’m sure it’s just code for feelz before realz. ::)

The thinking in your state is just all fucked up. You should probably try to get out before posting again. ;)

P.S. I had a Koolaid drinker yesterday try to tell me that it was in fact Trump supporting whites who controlled CHAZ. By ANY means necessary! Wake up, conservatives! You’re nation is going bye bye!! ;D

"Militant activists have taken over a six-block section of Seattle, including a police precinct, and declared it the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone,” releasing a list of demands that must be met before they relinquish control of the area. One of those demands was a 100 percent defunding of the Seattle Police Department, including pensions, with the money being redirected toward things like free public housing and socialized medicine."

Sounds reasonable.  Life is just one big party, thanks to the money tree.

The funny thing is that the money tree does exist. It is what allowed the US and other countries to manage to shut down for Corona-chan for a few months. The countries who were privileged were able to print money with very few consequences (yet... But that is a whole different debate.) Zimbabwe, the Congo and many other countries did not have a money tree to harvest.

The money tree has allowed the US to put 5 trillion into buying shit bonds and bad debt to bail out the banks and investors. That money could have went elsewhere, but the men / women in control gave it to their friends.

That poor money tree has been abused pretty heavily lately. And the owners seem to think that fertilizing it just requires taking a shit in the pot every few years. No, it cannot sustain the promised pensions, and UBI is a joke. It just is not able to produce that kind of crop.

It's just too bad that everybody is still wanting to rape that poor tree for every cent it still has... One day the leaves will turn brown...

Yeah you have it.  We are being herded into camps based largely on cultural divisions with a flimsy pretense at ideology to give them credibility and give people slogans to shout at each other, purely for political expediency.  Demagogued, in other words.  Huge swathes of both MAGATs and BLMs are decent, church-going folk but they will never see it.

Looks like a jolly fellow.

QuoteThe gardens in Cal Anderson park were crafted quickly, but with expertise. A layer of cardboard smothers grass, which isn’t a particularly healthy crop for the environment; and diverse seedlings donated by neighbors are placed into holes in the cardboard that allow them to take root underground.
