More alarmist folks like Rense, Jones, et al are making it seem like Victoria is a total police state and a culling/camps will happen soon, and what the rest of the world will be like soon. Many guests/callers say this was a result of Australia, basically, 'letting their guns be taken.' And some 'experts' have theorized, psychologically, Australia was founded by prisoners, mainly British subjects, so already used to tyranny, rules, and overlords.  One notes things like lines on floor, walking directions, lock-downs, uniforms, tracking, distancing, tracing, snitches, are all what are used usually in prisons or criminal cases.

I have to say that I haven't seen any police for a few weeks now, so I guess it's not a police state in that way?
Australia as a whole is normally a nanny state - laws and fines against many things, limits on free speech, the major cities and interest groups have most sway on policy (eg causing speedlimits to be imposed on a remote highway no locals wanted), etc. It has nothing to do with convicts and is more likely due to 'soccer moms'. But I digress...

Lockdowns here are still not easing at all as the government is claiming that the daily new cases is too high (~10-14/day). Now it's required that people wear actual masks when they leave their houses - not scarves, no faceshields, bandanas, etc - or they'll be fined $200. State borders are still closed, but apparently New Zealanders will be allowed into the rest of the country before actual Australians.
Still can't leave the house for more than 2hrs a day, can't leave a 5km radius of home, most stores are still closed. A shitload of vacant shopfronts have been appearing...

Might be time for the populace to grab their weapons and tell the gov't ....      Oh, how embarrasing.  Um, sorry.  I guess you can continue to bend over and take it, whenever the gov't tells you to.  But dammit, you don't have to like it.

There are a lot of brown nosers who keep spouting off garbage such as that, "just a few more weeks of lockdown and we'll be done forever", "we're all in this together", and "Daniel Andrews has done a great job!". I think there are less of them now than earlier, but there's still quite the number and they're particularly vocal. If you feel like getting angry then have a look at twitter trends for things like Melbourne Lockdown, IStandWithDan, Victoria, Melbourne, etc.

New cases today were 6 (Sydney, which has a comparable population, had double that with no restrictions), with no changes to the lockdown since my last post. The Premier is claiming there'll be some slight easing announced this weekend, but he's baited and switched before. One of the major newspapers ran an opinion piece today claiming that Melbourne's problems are from high immigration and multiculturalism.
The Premier's electoral office was vandalised overnight...

I’m hoping soon, if only to restore sanity. ;)

The day after the Boston Marathon hoax bombing, I showed up at work in a thick brown leather jacket, and a cotton felt Indiana Jones-style hat (left my bullwhip and nunchucks at home tho) and people were like, "what are you wearing?" and I was all, "oh, you know--just in case."

Whew, glad that blew over. Imagine how bad that one could have been. Stay tuned.

This week brings us lots of insanity. In Britain, you cannot visit the house of somebody else if you are not in their support bubble in areas in tier 2 and 3 lockdown (50% of the country.) You cannot be in a support bubble if the other person (and you) don't live alone. Think of all of the people who are no longer supposed to date or fuck because the government says so. How many people in those expensive cities live alone and can have their fiance, or fuckfriend over? I would bet not many. Because the government says so, that's why.

At the same time, they just issued new guidance for extremely vulnerable people. What does it say? That in tier 2 and even tier 3 areas you should continue to go to school AND go to work (even if you cannot work from home.)

How is it alright to keep the young and healthy locked up while telling the old and extremely vulnerable who will drop dead the second the catch a fucking cold to go to work because "it's safe."

Want to know what the vulnerable includes who are given this advice?

-Solid organ transplant recipients
-People with cancer who are undergoing active chemotherapy
-People with lung cancer who are undergoing radical radiotherapy
-People with cancers of the blood or bone marrow such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma who are at any stage of treatment
-People having immunotherapy or other continuing antibody treatments for cancer

The Chinese Lockdown-and-Mask Model Failed. Now Its Proponents Need Scapegoats

“Desperate, the public health experts adopted China’s compulsive mask wearing, a cultural practice that predates the virus, as if wearing a few flimsy scraps of fiber would fix everything.

It hadn’t and it didn’t.”

“People traveling to New York from 43 states and territories now meet the criteria to quarantine for two weeks upon arrival, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday.”
