70 isn't that old.  It's the new 50.  Most people at 70 still provide childcare or work.  At 70, one has only been retired 5 years (if at all).

He was in long term care. Rather than providing childcare, I assume that somebody was likely changing his diaper while he hacked up a lung from COPD. At least it's not like SARS where they had to exhume the first Canadian "victim" because they just assumed he dropped dead of other causes.

Sorry, I just can't panic yet.

Should I also shed a tear for the tens of thousands left disabled from auto accidents or who keel over dead of stroke each year? It's just like Christmas.  Take what you like and leave the rest.  No one forces us how to feel.  Although yes pity is probably appropriate on some levels.  I don't feel like anyone is telling me to panic, but China is panicking.  And I do appreciate the information, mostly because although the virus is not as prevalent as auto accidents, it does seem to be increasing exponentially, and you know how exponents grow fast.
