Coronavirus 2020

I feel like this might've been a thing before the latest epidemic out of the PRC:

Anti-China sentiment spreads along with coronavirus

QuoteVietnam, which was under Chinese occupation centuries ago and contests Beijing’s sweeping maritime claims in the South China Sea, has particularly fraught relations with China.

But it is not alone in the region.

Over 60% of respondents to a poll of Southeast Asian officials, academics and other professionals said in a survey this month that they distrusted China. Nearly 40% said they thought China was “a revisionist power and intends to turn Southeast Asia into its sphere of influence”. The survey did not mention the virus.

No doubt.   Did you get out okay today?   We were worried about you.

The concern is appreciated, but I'm not in Sydney.

I think Australia's population is really on edge over this virus even if it's not really spoken out loud. People saying that they're avoiding parts of the city known for large Chinese populations, constant reports in the media about suspected cases, and people wearing masks out on the street.

Oh I can believe that.  Folks weren't jumping with joy when they hauled that dude out of RDU here and bunged him into one of those creepy isolation wards over at Duke Med.

As much as I appreciate the attempt to lend a local flavor to the metaphor I have to protest:  a dragon is not a beast of burden.  While a camel humping straw must have been an occasional sight in certain areas of the globe (and I suspect it reflects a Western taste for Oriental or faux-Oriental proverbs, like Confucius say and Sun Tzu, and further why a camel and not the ass which was more usual in those parts?) a rice-hauling dragon is a new one on me.  I can think of a lot better use for one that proved biddable.

I think the Chinese have always had so many people that the use of draft animals was superfluous, and maybe it is simple unfamiliarity that produces this ungainly image.  I suppose the rice to be in large baskets rather than sacks, if it can be added by the grain, perhaps one on each side.  Didn't Chinese dragons fly?  You would have rice everywhere, even if you could persuade one to schlep it for you.

Can we all admit this is not a happening and it's over? There have been white people get this and survive it without medical attention. It seems to only be effecting Asians and only killing old people with preexisting medical conditions. This was just another fake and gay happening and I'm glad i didn't waste muh sheckles panic buying Bakker Buckets and Tangy Tangerine.

Kaori will be fine let's celebrate like Ozzy Osbourne at a Wuhan wet market!

You gotta cut Phd. Harry some slack.  His country is coming apart at the seams.   Stress of the moment and what not....................

I suppose.  I would have gone more for a "these are the times that try men's souls" sort of thing.  Minting metaphors is heady business.

This is certainly nice to know.

"No, drinking bleach will not ward off coronavirus... "

Especially, if Noory or Clyde start plugging Clorox as a sponsor.

Obvious oil companies trying to create a run on bleach because everyone’s using it in their cars instead of gasoline is obvious.

I've never followed one of these kind of things closely before.  Jesus.  Is it always like this?
Time to call up the Reserves?

I'm thinking that Huawei is behind this whole flu thing as payback for Canada pinching its Chief Financial Officer at the behest of the U.S.  Inscrutable oriental minds are at work here.  Just sayin'.

Damn, I think I just started a rumor.  I meant it tongue in cheek but I guess anything is possible.  It will be interesting to see who comes up with a patentable vaccine.

So I've gone so far down the virus doom tunnel that I thought I'd check on what The Master's thoughts were on the matter.

When I go to his channel in Youtube, my anti-virus kicks in and tries to keep the contagion out.   What if it got thru?

I'm scared Bellgab.   Hold me................

It doesn't block other youtube channels.  Senda's link has Corona-chan!

Often I ignore "new" news and just revisit old Art programs, and others, and when I feel like Nero put on an old Phil Hendrie and laugh as it burns. Guest transporting a monkey "as a favor, to make ends meet" -or something- who got sick due to "contact." "Contact" evolved as bit goes on. During first Ebola scare. Amazing. Nurse call ins. Story develops. Angry callers about public safety. But trucker worried about "guvmint quarantining him" and, later, "embarassment."

I don't get this one? Putting some fireworks or incendenaries under a door? That was a prank back in my day. What next? Giving someone a "hot foot" or tying their laces together is a UN violation?
