I've noticed my old phone has problems with internet, especially wikipedia and duckduckgo, especially when using 'anonymous' browsers like Dolphin Zero etc. I get memos like "Deprecating TLSv1.0 and TLSv1.1" and such.

Are you using a VPN when this happens?  Are the time/date correct on the device?

As far as I know I am not using a VPN (it could be the so-called "privacy" browsers build something analogous into them?) But I'm not paying for a VPN or explicitly using one on the phone- just the normal connection via WiFi or carrier. Time/Date is correct. Only happens on my old phone. Which I know I should upgrade but resisting because it still works (until this internet deal) and has some features I like- removable battery, removable sd storage, removable SIM card, unupdated apps that work without ads, etc.

Lots of browsers have a VPN built in to them, like Opera. If the VPN is misconfigured I would expect it could cause these sorts of problems.
