I roofed for a couple years..I'd have done it for free..
but being unlicensed she wouldn't have the roofing material warranty..that's the 30 years she mentioned.

If you did roofing for a few years, then you will likely recognize the warranties as being a bad joke. I read the "30 year warranty" from IKO before deciding to do my own roof. Between depreciation, limitations on damage due to weather, and a deductible that starts after 4 or 5 years and limiting the amount they will pay for labour (which makes up the majority of the cost) as well as not covering things like underlay it was pretty amusing. I figured they could offer "100 year warranted" shingles and still come out ahead if somebody needed to replace them in a decade.

I would be shocked if, in my city they have ever paid out $2.00 towards a roof claim.

Roofing seems to be one big scam operation.  Everytime there's a hailstorm within a hundred miles of my estate, my front entrance is plastered with offers from every Tom, Dick, and Harry to "assess" my roof for damage and to get the insurance to pay for it.  No wonder home insurance is so expensive.
