Was that the gal in Hawaii?

I'd be sick as a dog in that stretcher spinning like that.

G-force training completed.

Seems there are bad ADS-B outages in America at the moment causing delays.

617 Sqn RAF is famous for the raid on the the dams in Germany, but what is not so well known is that the squadron wasn't disbanded after that raid and continued to do high precision raids using different weapons. They mainly trained every day but their actual operational duties were far fewer than all other bomber crews. They used custom bomb sights and techniques that also included modifying the Lancaster bombers. The raid on the Tirpitz in a Norwegian fjord being one such event that involved stripping out the front gun turret, all excess weight and installing an extra fuel tank above the wing spar in the already cramped fuselage.

Here's another raid they performed to consolidate the D-Day landings.

Say what you will about the Israelis, but they a pragmatic lot who embrace the old "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" adage, even if for only for the near term.  In 1956 they teamed with old enemy UK (and France) at Suez to deal with the threat Nasser presented.  In the 80s they supported the Iranians with logistical and intel support because they felt the Iraqis were a bigger threat to them.  They also worked with the Soviets, the main supplier of arms to her enemies, to deal with terrorism, particularly in Beirut. During Desert Storm, they formed a very uneasy alliance, or at least a strategic understanding, with the various Muslim nations opposing Iraq.  In the late 90s, they considered a joint strike with the Indians against Pakistan to forestall the "Muslim bomb."  Now they are not so covertly aligning themselves with the Saudis and the GCC to thwart Iran.

QuoteIt seems highly likely that the pilot was suffering from vertigo and was unaware of his condition," said the JASDF in a press release, adding that it was unlikely that the crash was due to "technical problems with the aircraft."

Hog did you ever make it to any of the London Air shows back in the 80's? They were incredible
Yes, yes I did.  I was young at the time, we had just gotten our CF-18s.  I was at the last London airshow where the jets were breaking the sound barrier.  After one too many complaints of broken windows they put all that fun to an end.  the CF-18s were taking over for our aged CF-101 Voodoo fleet.  They served from 1961-1984 and were primarily armed with the nuclear  AIR-2 Genie missile.  The missile was unguided and was designed to be fired into Soviet bomber formations coming over the Pole.
Here is the detonation of a warhead of a Genie at 15000 feet..

When the CF-18s came around, we discontinued the Genie nuclear armed missile.

I remember crawling through C-130's and was amazed that the wings of the "heavies"(dont recall the types) didnt snap off as they drooped so much when stationary.
The jets standing on end and accelerating vertically until invisible was simply amazing..

peace

Sounds like that was about the same time I started coming up for the Hamilton Airshow, I think my first show was 1984.
Did you ever go to the Hamilton show? I was also at the Sarnia Airshow (2000?) when the fatal Sea Fury crash occurred.  I don't think that show exists anymore .

QuoteRussian Sukhoi Su-27 fighter jet intercepted US B-52H long-range strategic bomber approaching Russia's border from the Baltic Sea on Monday, as footage released on Tuesday shows.

It's so cute when you pretend to have an idea about what the topic is.  ;)

I think it’s cuter when you pretend, which is always.

the mechanics on that plane would fill a full thread

The maintainers on any plane could fill a full thread.

Compared to most aircraft, especially the generations preceding it, the A-10 is not that bad.  It was designed to be maintained in and operated from what is now referred to as a bare base environment, I think it was termed "austere forward base" back in the day.

How Israel Helped India Win The Air War During Kargil
https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/how-israel-helped-india-win-the-air-war-during-kargil-2058511

No surprise, there has been a clandestine military relationship between Israel and India for a good number of years.  The Israelis have long feared the "Muslim bomb," a concern they shared with India considering it was first produced in Pakistan. Twenty years or so ago there were rumors of a joint Israeli/Indian strike in the planning stage to take out Pakistani nuclear sites.  Never happened, but I would bet the plan was completed and has been continually updated ever since.

There have been rumours floating about for a long time about US forces having plans to secure the Pakistani nuclear materials in the event of instability too.

I would think it's a safe bet there a number of nations with contingency plans for securing Pakistani nuke in that event. India and China for sure, maybe the Brits as well.  I could also see the Iranians making a play for them if things went to shit.

Israelis are claiming that Russian jamming and spoofing in Syria is affecting GPS in Israel and Cyprus.

Signal that has been interfering with airplanes in Israeli airspace is detectable from space, appears to come from new deployment of Moscow’s electronic warfare systems
