I can almost guarantee there was no connection. Whether or not Japanese-Americans were interned made no difference in the savage treatment of American POWs.

Thats right. Anyone who studies the invasion of the Philippines in Dec 1941 and the subsequent battles on Luzon (including Bataan and Corregidor) knows that the Americans did not surrender until April 1942.

Japanese Americans were not immediately interned in Dec 1941 and by 1942-43 there were American Japanese enlisting in the US Armed Forces.
