this is a really stupid thing to say. press is an immensely powerful force in modern politics. why else do you think people frequently refer to it as "the fourth estate"? democracy literally fucking depends on the press and without it a republic will fall. i don't know where you're from, but i do know that there's a lot of censorship in europe and abroad that we don't experience here in the US. there are hate speech laws, wider libel laws, journalists horrified to print stories about politically incorrect things because they're afraid of what will happen to them, and more. what is the result? an ultra left-wing europe that's committing cultural suicide. so i honestly don't know what the hell you mean by this ignorant, asinine comment, but i can promise you that EVERY government system, whether they're democratic or not, is highly dependent on the press, which generally is the people's only means of being informed (even social media won't work for information dissemination without press to print articles for people to share. as nobody is going to believe joe schmo when he says "i just talked to a border agent! he says illegal border crossings are up this month!") and when it's occupied by anti-nationalists, you're going to have some very serious problems

It is. I think it's central problem is that it was crafted with the idea that participants wouldn't be loathsome narcissists willing to sell their own country out. Of course, it's not just the mainstream media (which we could just as well call the propaganda arm of the richest people in the world) and the Democrats. If it were it might be a fair fight but no, Trump's got asshole deep state members of his own party like Graham and McCain trying to do everything they can to take him down too. In a way I almost hope they do try to push it that far. It might be fun to see us descend into a civil war again.
