Just a general thread about trumps transition team and who they'll choose and why

the current team according to wiki is

The Trump transition team is led by Vice President-elect Mike Pence, who plans to remain governor of Indiana until his term ends on January 9, 2017. It has six vice-chairs, including former transition head Chris Christie, Ben Carson, Newt Gingrich, Michael Flynn, Rudy Giuliani and Jeff Sessions.

The transition team also has an Executive Committee which includes:

Steve Bannon, Trump campaign CEO; named Counselor to the President on November 13
    Rep. Lou Barletta
    Rep. Marsha Blackburn
    Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi
    Rep. Chris Collins
Jared Kushner the husband of Ivanka Trump and owner of the New York Observer
    Rep. Tom Marino
Rebekah Mercer â€" director of the Mercer Family Foundation and daughter of major Trump donor Robert Mercer.
Steven Mnuchin â€" banker at Goldman Sachs, investor in OneWest bank, finance chair of Trump's presidential campaign
    Rep. Devin Nunes
Reince Priebus â€" Republican National Committee chairman; named White House Chief of Staff on November 13
Anthony Scaramucci â€" Hedge-fund manager and founder of investment firm SkyBridge Capital
Peter Thiel â€" Co-founder of PayPal, president of Clarium Capital, a managing partner in Founders Fund, co-founder and investment committee chair of Mithril Capital Management, co-founder and chairman of Valar Ventures, and co-founder and chairman of Palantir, entrepreneur, venture capitalist, hedge fund manager, and author.[65]
    Donald Trump Jr.
    Eric Trump
    Ivanka Trump

Some things I found interesting about it is that this transition team is literally the first Government job Ben Carson has ever held. The same is true for Trumps kids.

Given that Trumps kids will also be running the foundation, I'm not sure how they can avoid a conflict of interest here. Being on the Transition team gives them access to some of the highest government inside information so not sure how they are allowed to be on the team.

The whole question of conflicts of interests with the trump organization in general is just a big ass clusterfuck.

Then there was the Christie 'purge' where he was fired as head of the team, but I guess according to this he is still there so must not have been a big deal.

Are transition team members government employees?  A president-elect isn't employed by the government, so why would his transition team members be government employees? I'd think they are employed by the Trump campaign or the Republican Party. Even if they have a pot of money allocated from the government to fund the transition, they would probably be treated as contractors as opposed to government employees until such time Trump is sworn in.

I know they get funds from the government to use, not sure if they are paid directly though

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2016/11/23/elizabeth-warren-wants-to-know-how-donald-trump-is-using-taxpayer-funds-for-his-transition/

The article mentions "$7 million in Congress-appropriated funds for transition and appointee costs." that could be funds given to them as resources, not really sure if they are paid like government employees, I guess they could be.

The article is overly critical in my opinion since if anything should be given government funds a transition team which is extremely important to the highest office in the land kinda should be on that list.

Even if they aren't paid directly by the government they have a lot of power in deciding who will run the new government.
