That "he's no longer with us" business is how corporate HR people tell you to reply if someone asks about a person who is no longer employed by the company.  You are told not to say "he was fired" or "he quit" nor give any details about the separation. I think that's what sNoory, corporate boy living at corporate headquarters, let slip from him mouth.

I thought the proper terminology now for HR was Human Capital?  Nothing like making the people who work for you feel they're almost as important as the furniture or about to be part of the menu at the next corporate banquet.  ;)

Noory makes for a good, little PremRat suck-up.  I thought I was going to become physically ill after hearing him when he had some PremRat corporate wienie at the start of his 10 year anniversary bore-show .  What a sickening slobber-fest that was.  :P

I am of both Norwegian and Finnish descent; my last name is even of Finnish origin. I have to state for the record that although they are both considered Scandinavian, the Vikings were far more associated with Norway. (I think.) The chicks are hot in any case. Let the PC Police come after me for saying that; I don't give a shiite.

Regardless we were the first Europeans (of record anyway) to discover North America. And whenever I'm accused of being racist (which I'm not) simply because I'm white (which I am), I have to point out that while my ancestors did their share of raping, pillaging, looting, burning, killing, hacking, slashing, and raping, we enslaved *OTHER WHITE PEOPLE*.

Reminds me of an old joke...what do you get when you cross a Norwegian with a Swede? A socialist who wants to be king!

OK, enough off-topic jokes here...have you heard that Art Bell might be coming back? Go to the "Art Bell's New Show" thread and discuss!

great to have you back.

Good point about the artwork and cartoons.  They were so much better and cooler than the dumbed-down dreck that shows-up on the C2C site.

They were GENUINE.

"If you've ever sat in a darkened cockpit, in front of a twinkling control panel, and prepared for a night flight, you know the feel of what all-night radio can be like--the excitement of knowing that you'll be flying high and covering great distances while others are asleep. On "Coast to Coast AM" Art Bell is at the controls, guiding his millions of national listeners through the night's news, and bringing them in for a safe landing by dawn. That's Art Bell, and that's the Art Bell show. His fans know the feeling very well."

Yes, we do.

Indeed. Don't forget originality  out, that nasty word that Noory and ilk love to hate. Noory has his head plastered everywhere on that site. Reminds me of the Ayatollah, or that weird preacher from Fletch Lives.

Thanks Marc Knight!
Fankoni I did mention the Norwegian thing. :)
I might private message you to see if you know of any resources to find out if I have any long-lost Finnish relatives (my surname is pretty rare here but I know it and some variants exist still in Finland and Eastern Europe).
Welcome to the board!

Fly By Night

I keep waiting for KNYE to drop C2C. I would guess they will be one of the first to pick up Art's new show

Art Bell, if you still lurk here...will you please bring your old website www.artbell.com back?
Also Art, any way you could get the guy back that did the original artwork and cartoons? I loved it when your site had you surfing atop a ufo,  or some other wild conception on the homepage. Solid Gold.
I miss you!

One thing I have loved to do occasionally, when I'm feeling nostalgic is use the internet archive to peruse artbell.com

Art, while we all miss you terribly, I do understand why you have, as not, returned to radio. As you said in another topic, to paraphrase your post, "it is better to do nothing than to do it half-assed." I am new to this forum, however, a long-time listener and fan, and, while I do miss hearing you live on the radio I am fortunate to hear your archive shows online. You were, and are, a breath of fresh air in radio. I wish you and your family the warmest wishes and look forward with great anticipation to you possibly returning to the airwaves.

I really miss Art Bell, and hope that he is successful in getting a contract/deal that is good for him. What I like the most about his style of talk, is how he brings you in... He captivates you.... Makes you listen.  It's the "stay tuned" during the show... He will tell you a little bit of what is coming up... but just enough to make you have to listen... but he won't tell you when he is going to talk about it! I've had my radio on at night, and he would do that.... so I would wait and listen... and often he wouldn't talk about whatever he was mentioning for an hour or two... And he would keep on bringing it up!  Anyways... I would listen to the whole show, and absolutely LOVE it all! Now all that happens, is I fall asleep listening to Noory... No captivation at all! So that's it for my input on this. FINGERS CROSSED!!!  You don't know what you got, till it's gone... so come on back Art!

Hello YNOT, thanks for the link. I am waiting for that light on the upper left to come on. Do you think he will bring the old site back up once a new show starts?

Surmo

Welcome fellow Finnlanders!

I'm a third generation Finn, my family were a bunch of loggers who moved in the U.S. to the nearest geography to what they were used to in Finland.  And ended up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

My screen name here, Surmo, is in fact from my D&D days (now I've outed myself), when I played a character named that.  It was supposedly the Finnish God of Death, though I think the TSR manual
is wrong based on the wonders of Google.

As to raping and pillaging, Finns took more than they gave.  The Mongol Hordes raped and pillaged well
into the northern Baltic regions, and many of my relatives bear that genetic history.  We don't deserve too much of an onus.  Besides, Finland is the only country (so I hear) to pay their World War debts back to the U.S.  You don't see that much from any country.

But I digress from the proper subject, the second coming.

Usagi

I was just reading part of the Kalevala this week, as a coincidence (which does exist).  It's just a Finnish good time around here.  For any of you who haven't heard of it, it's pretty surreal.  I recommend a drink with it, though (and don't ask me what's up with the chickens):

http://www.sacred-texts.com/neu/kveng/kvrune31.htm

And, don't worry about being the only D&D gamer around here, Surmo.  Just ask the member "Mind Flayer Monk".  There's a reason why I really hope that Art doesn't put his new show on Saturday nights. ;p

lulz, can you imagine Jorch haveing stuff like that on his site.
The web sure was different back in the 90's. It's kinda weird listening to the stream, and thinking " I was just a little kid when this happened"

i can't wait for Art to be on the air again!

That`s such a spot-on analogy!

Art always insisted his show would never have worked if it were done during daylight hours. How true!

Art`s age has been mentioned as a possible hurdle to holding down a grueling overnight show 5-7 days a week.

I couldn`t agree more. NOT that he is incapable, but that he may not want to take it on at this stage of his life. He`s made his bones, and is now enjoying his beautiful family and fantastic lifestyle -- deservedly so!

That`s why I believe, when the dust settles, you`ll see him once a week -- probably Friday night (I think Art would cherish going toe-to-toe with sNoory on Friday night), but possibly Saturday. He would be ideally suited for a gig like Bill Cunningham has on Sunday night. That would give him plenty of time to get the interesting guests and prepare.

Just a thought.

Whatever day(s) that Art chooses to be on the air, I'd like those days and times to be when he would be opposing Noory.  Within a short time, he'd leave Noory in the dust.

Bring on the battle, I'll enjoy observing such a confrontation.

Just a gut feeling. But a very strong gut feeling  ;)

Art is infinitelybetter than Snoory. I love listening to old Art shows on the streaming website. I started listening around 96. Lost quite a bit of sleep.

People won't like hearing this, but we should be wary of Art's return. Rebuilding a 65 mustang from new parts is not the same. Times are different now. There was something magical about the late 90's. The internet was just coming up, people didn't have cell phones, and we didn't have Google to discover that guests were complete phonies.

Do I look forward to Art's new show? MOST DEFINITELY. However, it will not be the same. With that said, a couple of suggestions:

A) Bring back the web cam.
B) Free live & historical streaming of the show. I think this changed around 2001. It used to be great to be able to tune in and listen live, right off the AB website.
C) Bring back the ArtBell.com website (classic look is ok)
D) NO NUMBERS LADY.

This is my first post. I want to thank MV for sending that email regarding Art. It made my day! Hopefully we get to hear Art. I have not listened to George in years, and have listened to Art since high school in 1994.

I have been lurking for awhile and decided to finally post a thank you. Also, the Jorch's eyepad series is hilarious, along with the many break downs of his speech issues. Long live, and hopefully welcome back to Art Bell!

There was a magical feeling with the late 90s early 2000s. Agreed.

But.. bringing back the magic can happen.
Have faith.

I think Art could definitely do at least 5 days.  He's got the technical knowledge and equipment and means to set shit up so he can broadcast from home so even at his age I don't see an issue with him doing something substantial.

Noory no doubt knows he's safe for what 5 more years with Coast.  This is actually a good thing as he can be observed going down with that accursed ship that is the modern day C2C.

Whatever happens it's gonna be fucking great... especially for us here since it's been our wet dream for some time now.  So glad to see so many of you oldschoolers coming back and posting again.

We are entering a new ERA people!!

hehe damn right...
this beatdown has yet to begin! can't wait!

does coast own the rights to the opening song?
will Art have to use a new song?

An open challenge... let's start making new ART BELL graphics and post them here.  Most of the old ones were made by fans, so let the games begin!
