The Russia Thread

Started by GuerrillaUnReal, August 01, 2016, 02:49:39 PM

I think it's time for this as it seems there's daily news about Russia's relationship and influence on the West. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Here's President Obama's take on Putin and Russia's situation.

Quote"The truth is, actually, Putin, in all of our meetings, is scrupulously polite, very frank. Our meetings are very businesslike. He never keeps me waiting two hours like he does a bunch of these other folks... He’s constantly interested in being seen as our peer and as working with us, because he’s not completely stupid. He understands that Russia’s overall position in the world is significantly diminished. And the fact that he invades Crimea or is trying to prop up Assad doesn’t suddenly make him a player. You don’t see him in any of these meetings out here helping to shape the agenda. For that matter, there’s not a G20 meeting where the Russians set the agenda around any of the issues that are important."

Uncle Duke

Of course Obama's the same guy who previously called Russia a "regional power" and labeled ISIS as a "JV team".

Now we apparently have a debt-ridden American presidential candidate with ties to "Russian business"   being "handled" by a Putin operative. 40,000 troops massing of  the Ukraine border just as we enter the last few months of a general election. The US President will not want to enter a 3rd World War with the election so close.

Julian Assange may be releasing more Clinton "email" that has been hacked by Russian operatives in his attempt to embarrass and influence the outcome of the election. Or is he, too involved with the Russian Oligarchy?

Meanwhile.....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem to be implying that the patriotic thing to do here, is to turn a blind eye to Hillary Clinton's f****** treason. Is that right?

You're okay though with Trumps veiled incitement to assassination of a Presidential candidate? Because we all know that those gun owners who are also mentally disturbed won't 'hear voices' and go out and murder because Trump said they should?

I took a sabbatical in a Jewish Mosque affiliated to a Buddhist Kirk up in a Nigerian/Scottish paper cup factory based on an island somewhere in the Irish sea/south Pacific.

I might go again if things here deteriorate again.

I'm sorry that was your take.  My take was simply the 2nd Amendment Advocates step up the VOTE FOR TRUMP effort.  People usually hear what they want to hear. :)

I'm reasonably confident you are not responsible for making up the entire science of geoengineering.

You have a really high opinion of yourself, have you ever noticed that? It really seems like you're compensating for something.

You're much more fun when you're on building seven. Stick to that, turbines are not your strong point.

Your surrender has been noted.

And how about vice versa?  Anybody interested in serious discussion either way?

"Veiled incitement to assassination?!" "We all know that..." That's an awful lot of spin, mister! I mean for someone who's not into woo, apparently.  ;)

Putin just flexing a bit. He and the Russian billionaire class aren`t exactly seeing eye to eye these days, so he likes to show them who`s in charge.

This is very important topic, but I don't think many people here are paying proper and balanced and informed attention to it.

I've read very interesting prophesy / prediction, that in the future, after China attacks USA [and pins USA to the wall], Russia will step in
and will help USA to defat Communist China.
But for now many blind American [and EU] leaders are brainwashing masses that Russia is the aggressor and enemy.

Too much humbugger fat and too many bubbles from soda drinks inside of many American's brains ...

Yeah, I think also some concerns that non-Putin folks are taking too much capital overseas and also bringing billionaires, and just the average government officials' children, back closer to the fold will mean more how-shall-we-say "oversight" (or even outright threats) lest some rumblings about his leadership? Though they also face, like many European countries, a shortage in new native births so it could even been something related to that. Not wanting a new generation to flee to other countries and he wouldn't like the European solution to the problem of importing "refugees" and "migrants," rightfully.
