I don't usually quote myself as I think it bad form; but this was my reply to AB last december 14th. Came to pass eh?

Listen; you may have your adoring sycophants who would jump off a cliff if they thought it would make you like them a bit.

You play on that although you know you don't need to say so. You are a semi public figure with (it's accepted) a fan base who hang onto your every word. You know that same fan base accept what you say as true and beyond reproach; however some of us are not that naive. Some of us have been around the block and lived away from late night radio and woo woo. Some of us can smell bullshit a mile away.

Now you're denying you said you were retiring, when it's clear you did. You sir put Heather in an invidious position and through absolutely no fault of her own, she's taking flack from idiots because by an accident of birth, she isn't you. People may lose their gainful employment because of you.

You sir are beneath contempt.

I withdraw "Art cucked us all" your honor. 😆 Art cucked the 'Time Traveler's' with a sloppy bait and switch. I get your point  though VoteQuimby.100 new shows and Hoag-amanina.

However, in my humblest opinion, Art's behavior during December-present has destroyed any redeeming qualities of MITD. And the news about the "alleged" looming cumulus deal...

I'm not sure what to think anymore. The behavior is odd. Watching DMDN begin to scrape bottom has given me a kind of detached outlook on the whole thing. Watching it unravel has been incredibly entertaining and unique.

I'm still laughing about MFM's post.

All hail Bobo!  All hail MV!

Art Bell?

Agreed!

I can't get over how seemingly hostile and irate some gabbers get at his postings too, it's just ridiculous! And the memes come out, pics of apes driving cars, etc.

In all seriousness, many of the gabsters ought to be doing some type of comedy show or something, there is some talent on this board and it's hilarious! Put that talent to use and make some money off it! Hell I'd PayPal donate!

I don't buy that... Anymore.  Anybody who would cancel because Art is not on the show has noticed that he has not been around and have cancelled.  There will be those who do not tune into Heather and forgot their subscription self-renews every month.  That is not dependent on Art's name being associated with MITD.

I just think that you are saying that people are beyond stupid (to believe that Art will be back hosting full time and are maintaining their subscription based on that belief.)

***This coming from somebody aims to call a minimum of one dozen people stupid each day and has very low expectations of intelligence.  I just don't think that people are holding subscriptions 4 months into Heather Wade's MITD with 1 Art Bell appearance....

And then there is me who is simply lazy as all FUCK and I keep it going because I haven't yet downloaded all the Art shows that I haven't listened to yet.

It is interesting that you post that...  I have yet to download a single of the MITD shows (and, to be honest, I doubt that I ever will.)

This time around, I decided from the start to enjoy it for what it was... In the moment with no expectations, no future and no past. I joined, contributed to (or at least read) the live thread when I could and I think that was around half the fun.

When it ended, there was a twinge of disappointment- but I enjoyed the last ride more than the previous keeping a different attitude and knowing that it may be a short.  This also means that unlike other shows, I think I would feel a tinge of sadness and disappointment if I went back and listened.  No live thread contributions, no friendly banter, the knowledge that there was so much butthurt  from so many who claimed at the start to understand that the show would be organic and who must have known that they risked seeing the end Bell's broadcast career.

I prefer the memory of what was over the reality of what is...  (Not my usual style.)

Who trolls his "fan" site.  ;D This is better than when Gnoory was posting.  I'm looking forward to the day when GNoory, Art "The Troll," and Bobo17 are ALL posting at the same time.  A goldmine of laughter, sparkling in the sewage.

One of the BG high points, when AB and Jorch we're in a posting exchange, back before Dark Matter on Sirius and then when Jorch was "poaching" DM guests.  Jorch pretty much tucked his tail between his legs and rolled-over for Art.  Good times!  Good times!  :D

It'll be bittersweet listening to them for sure. The lazy part of my post was a joke. I've spent the time since Art quit up until a month ago working non-stop to the point of not being able to think straight or lift a coffee cup to my mouth trying to get out of a really tough spot where the building that I leased for my business changed ownership to a mega-jackhole. The months prior I only had time to listen to about half the shows.  Anyway, several months from now when we can take some time off again I'll be listening to some of those shows during a car trip up into the Smokey Mountains. I'll be happy to have them and sad when they have all been consumed.

I wonder if AI has progressed to the point where we can get Art's voice sampled and have it do the show. Add in the right amount of whackadoodle algorithms so it sees mice and tries to shoot at shit before it sells me a Taiwanese radio that fucks up it's LCD display if I let the battery run completely out and then retires twice a year but we can just reboot it.

I went back in the archives and saw a taste of that for last summer's run up to MITD! I'll have to dig for those other nuggets when time permits, haha

Look under the GNS thread from the late summer of 2013 and then the Art Bell and DM threads up to "The DM Quittening" in October of 2013.  Probably the "Golden Era" of BellGab for laughs.  From "Chicago all-beef hot dogs" to "Yuh know I'd never do anything to hurt yeeewww, Art."  Praise MV!  ;D

I saw a comment by a random on Art's Facebook page that said "Art has only come back for 1 show" regarding the Heather era to date. Did he do a show since he left? If so does anyone remember the date? Or was that guy just evil.

That reminds me, I fired up the good 'ole C.Crane "VersaCorder" to record his first on-air episode of MITD last summer (a nearby radio station in Virginia was airing it on AM). And the LCD on THAT thing was also completely fried! Cheap POS display. Someone else was commenting that all the C.Crane radios had poor quality control too. I haven't purchased any. The 'corder was about 15 years old but the display shouldn't be bad, I've got far older displays that still work fine!

Yes, one show on Friday, March 11, I believe.  It was open lines with Art primarily talking about Trump.

Sounds about right. :) Two Sangean (pronounced bay-gen somehow, right?) CC Radio Supreme with extra sour cream or somethings - anyway two of them each had their displays go unreadable after being left on until the batteries drained. They were dumpstered. Thanks Art. Sometime about then I looked up the C Crane shop on Google Maps to see what that awesome cedar sided looking building was like and saw it was really a shady looking place where I probably would never walk in, but their new digs look pretty nice in a cult-compound kind of way.

haha, no doubt! I'm not 100% sure but I believe Bob Crane is an old-time ham buddy of Art's. Probably used to chat with him down on 75 meters back when Art still did such things. He sounds like a nice guy on his radio ads (like THAT means something), but evidently his product lines have some QC issues

"Crane described the remodeling work that was completed on the business’ new home at 172 Main St., a former bowling alley..."  The picture of the outside looks a bit better after the remodel than the one that you probably saw on google maps... Still not beautiful- but better.  Also, I'm sure there is "plenty of free parking" for their visitors.  8)
