Quote from: morphiaflow on August 15, 2012, 02:32:57 AMI'm surprised no one here has posted this...or if they have, I didn't see it. Anyway, this was posted on the fantasticforum at some point in the last couple weeks...
Quote from: Eddie Coyle on August 15, 2012, 11:55:30 AMShirley died too? Didn't know that. Jonestown had a lower mortality rate than Fantastic Forum.

Certainly no biggie, but I announced her death just over a month ago - devoted a short separate thread to her here:

Includes her obituary, and Snoory's on-air announcement as an mp3 attachment.

Posted on Art's Facebook profile just now........

"Liver Cancer , only 3-6 Months to live"

You beat me to this, I was just about to post it after I commented on arts post. This is absolutely horrible news

Shockwave

Just saw that. Praying for him and his family.

The General

So very sad.  God bless you, Art.

That is terrible news.

Thank you for passing this on General.

b_dubb

terrible news. I hope he doesn't have to suffer much.

Art ... you've got several million fans out here thinking good thoughts for you and your family. God bless and keep you

ShayP

I hope this is not true.  I have a hard time believing Art Bell would post his terminal illness on Facebook.  I found no other news sources regarding this.  Like I said...I hope this is not true.  :(

artfanforever

why is there no mention of this on fantastic forum2???

Dreamland Art Vs C2C Art, Imagine it if Whitley let Art step into the Dreamland webcast spot once or twice a month. There would be a big drop in radio listeners on C2C that nite as most of us would be logged onto our computers listening to Art. Even if Art is forbidden from talking to any C2C guests currently under the chokehold of the PCCN (Premier Communist Control Network) just the great stories he could share about the U.S. Air Force overseas in the Cold War would be a great show. I remember my uncle who was in the USAF on KC-135's telling stories of at least 6 RB-47 that went down over Russia/China area due to enemy fire. Crews that never returned and aircraft never recovered. Or his wonderful stories of the early days inthe High desert broadcasting from a hotel in downtown LV. And the big smile you can hear over the radio when he talks about his little girl. Any dad out their with a daughter can recognize that different style of talking in a second! ;D

Some people are posting on Arts page now saying its Art's father in law that has cancer, the original post seems to be gone now.

Wow! I hope this is not true. :(

Okies, someone posted a couple of music videos before. There are 2 other songs Art used as bumper music all the time, but I don't know the titles.
One was sung but what sounded like a old Husband/wife lounge act in Vegas that had the words, "White bird must Fly or she will die"
And the the other was a guy singing "Some Velvet morning when I'm straight. I'll tell you about Feydra, and how she gave me life."
I know sometimes they play it now for Mr. Noory's bumpers, but that's not right,  >:(:P
Those were Art's signature bumper songs and it hurts to hear the songs but not the REAL voice of C2C! ;)
And if Art's number is truly up they should be sung at his funeral. And of course Ms. Gayle singing at his funeral too, you can imagine how happy he would be looking down seeing HER singing for him ;D

b_dubb

this is NOT meant as a joke: we should organize ONE LAST GREAT THOUGHT EXPERIMENT.  get everyone to meditate on Art's well being and try to reverse his cancer.  that would be cool if we could get a TON of people involved in that.  ideas on how to realize this? anyone?  or should i just shut up and stand quietly in the corner?

McPhallus

It's still up as I write this.  Doesn't look like he wrote it, though... I'm guessing Airyn did?  It has the unusual use of caps, and I know art likes to be vague, but I would think if he wrote it there would be at least a little more context to it.

morphiaflow

The original post is still readable here, at least for now, but I haven't seen a clarification/confirmation from Art himself yet.

This was already posted on the ART BELL thread, but he posted on his facebook today, "liver cancer, 3-6 months to live".

His page is awash with comments of every variety, but a lot of people are commenting that it's either a hacker/troll, or else that it's referring to Art's father in law. I haven't seen any further statement, correction, retraction or clarification, but for now at least the original post is still up...

Of course, I sincerely, truly, deeply hope it is not true, though of course, I wish the best to him--or if that's the case, his father in law--if it is.

Just saw this. I really hope this is not about Art.

Rico999

Just saw the post on my FB page.   Damn.

For those of you who aren't  familiar with liver cancer,  it inexorably does it's thing.  Unless he can get a transplant, he's not going to be with us much longer.

All I can say is that what he brought to radio - a serious examination of paranormal topics -- was unique -- and so was he.  As you all know, aside from being the always-curious host, he was his own producer, engineer and call screener and he did it all HIS way.

I used to listen to him late at night when Coast was doing straight talk radio.   He had a whole slew of nuts that would call in, but he handled them pretty well in his usual manner -- tolerant, without being abusive.   Then on Sundays along came "Dreamland," and I thought  wow, someone out there has the same thoughts about all this paranormal stuff that I've been having all these years....and then Coast adopted the format pretty quickly and the rest is, as they say, history.

He made a lot of friends, and no shortage of enemies either, for that matter. There was always some drama going on in his life and to his credit, he was pretty honest about all of it. He could be pretty pig-headed at times, but he was intellectually honest enough to modify his point of view with new evidence.

He was probably the last of his kind and he sure will be missed.   Once again, thanks for the "Fine Art" stream.   I'll take Art on any of his worst days over that lousy corporate product his show has become.

Best to you Art, I'm hoping you can find a way to beat this thing.

dan7800

That is awful. Good luck to Art, or whomever.

I cannot see his facebook page. Any ideas why?

HorrorRetro

I certainly hope it's not true and just some sort of mistake.

Gina

This is awful news. Liver cancer is a terrible way to go. Still hoping this is not about Art.

jazmunda

This is such sad news. You will be in my prayers Art.

It's still active for those who have Art in their friends list.  Kind of sad to see people posting all those bullshit cancer cures.  After reading his posts on this forum again, I'm starting to lean toward thinking it's legit.

Well, there's not much to see.  Art just posted...

And then there's about 300 morons telling him to take turmeric and baking soda and shit.

Dunno, on godlike productions someone said it was his father in law. Too much speculation. I got nothing.
