Yah, I remember a friend of mine's dad being beet-red, veins-popping dancing sometimes at the syttende mai dance. I was scared, almost petrified that he was going to have a heart-attack or aneurysm right in front of us. He never did, somehow. How, or why, I do not know.

Hahaha I can just see it!  Never done that, though I've considered taking the classes (I know, shoot me now, next comes incest) cuz some of those hallings are so catchy  when the spelemann screeches and stomps away and it looks so classy if you know what you're doing og hvis du kan ta deg en jente vet du.

Continuing with Robert's food theme Christmas ornaments.

Here are some ornaments for the domestic critters.

The Snorchlax

Oh the weather outside is frightful

But the radio is so insightful

and since Art left the show

Let it go let it go let it go

I've loved the music in this commercial since I was a kid but it's too damn short and the sentiments leave something to be desired.

So over the years I've been searching for tracks that have that same outdoor, fresh-snow feeling and the best I can come with is this, which, if you ignore the stupid baby, isn't too bad.

Not usually into New-Age stuff but if anybody knows any others in a similar vein I'd be grateful.

Still warm weather here but, somehow, my Christmas Cactus still knew it was the right time to start blooming.

I think it's the light.  Mom puts hers in a closet.

Nice K_Dubb. Are you familiar with Mannheim Steamroller? They have new age style Christmas music- some is very old style, some is more kitschy, but some might be similar to what you're looking for.

This one is a classic song and they use effects to simulate a winter wind towards the end of the piece, at about 4:33..

Gorgeous stuff, thank you!  And before anybody judges me I had Finnish heavy metal thrashing their way through the nisse-polkka cranked up to 11 last night.

Now that's a nice vid. that combines song and photos.  Also, that Absolutely Fabulous vid. was something else.  Had never seen it before and I loved it.   :)

Christmas cheers, sweetie darling! Thank you for the vintage card - I adore collectables. Just remember when shopping- make sure everything is expensive and gorgeous!  ;) ;D

Thanks!  Good re-creation of possible pre-Christmas Yuletide sentiments.

You sent me off in search of any surviving music or poetry from pre-Christian time and there's absolutely nothing, apart from some suggestions that holly and ivy and themes of light and rebirth in some old carols predate later Christian content.  It's a tragedy that literacy and the Church came hand-in-hand in northern Europe; we lost so much old stuff.

Thanks Gins, here's my 60s-vintage star, of which I'm inordinately proud:
