Is "Curse of Oak Island" totally fake or just partially fake?

Everybody should switch to "Hunting Hitler."  Another History channel exercise that goes nowhere other than endless speculation.

Caught part of an episode the other night--hoo boy!  What really caught my attention is that one of the team members, Bob Baer, is former CIA and has been one of CNN's defense and intelligence analysts for years.  This show can only enhance his credibility in that regard.

I personally believe Hitler died in the bunker, but even if he did escape he wouldn't have lived very long given how bad his health was at the end of the war.

I may have to check this show out to see what some of you are talking about.  I was drawn to the "booby-trap" aspect of the money pit.  I had read or watched something somewhere that claimed that dye was poured into the pit and was seen to flow out from a number of places around the island implying that there was some sort of tunnel system installed or there naturally.

Here is a diagram that shows those tunnels, and this has fascinated me also...how those long ago pirates (or whomever?) were able to dig such marvels of engineering with such long ago tools.  They should locate one of these side tunnels and send a mini robot cam down it.  But as Kongfish has pointed out, I don't think its within the powers of the two brothers to do something like that..

I seldom ever watch any television. But I do enjoy this show quite a bit. I'm fascinated with the story of Oak Island. It's definitely real. There's something there. I've been interested in it for many many years. I just hope they find something at the end of the day.

Nice I've seen a few maps like this one.  This one looks great though!!  Has that old treasuremap feel.  Wasn't there some sort of coconut matting found in one of the levels? or some sort of "non-regional" plant material?  There was also some connection with the coded stone writing in the pit to the "kensignton runestone?" writing

Here is a video that gives a good, somewhat basic overview of the mystery.  (If you've got 22 minutes to spare.)  I think it mentions the coconut matting.

I really was intrigued at the start of the show, I read that same article and it had always interged me as well. I moved down here to the Florida keys to hunt for treasure in my spare time I have the fever so bad.
But, I can say this with no regrets.
The first two seasons I stopped watching after that. I tuned in at the start of this season just to see where they were. When they had the producer on I knew right then, this show is a fucking joke. It gives treasure hunters a bad name. The show went from hunting for the Oak island Treasure. To the filming of the show being the treasure chest.
They were showing the hunt for the treasure and then this season they have spread the hunt out to six or seven different hunts that they show a small piece of each hunt in the show.
Segment 1.) the hole Dan Blankenship dug where they thing there's a room at the bottom of.
There showing such short segments of each area of the island that their hunting in, that in week #1 they started out by showing the scuba diver putting a glove on. Now in week 5, the scuba diver finally got his fifth finger in the glove.
#2) where they are digging with their million dollar Tonka truck toys. They have gotten so greedy, that they devoted one entire show to a segment that showed them dig 5 scoops of dirt, the whole show. It's a fucking joke.
3.) the curse of Oak island says 6 have died , & 7 must die before the mystery is solved. At the rate that they have slowed the TV show down to, 15 fucking people are going to be dead before they get back from the next commercial break, their going so slow.
4.) I could have walked to Oak island from here and started digging with one hand and made more progress then these morons have made.
They let their passion for treasure hunting get totally destroyed by letting that TV producer talk them into slowing everything way down. Now their passion is filming a TV show of them talking about wanting to treasure hunt, not ever actually hunting for treasure anymore. He show now officially Sucks. I stopped watching. I could find more treasure picking my nose then those clowns will ever find.

I can walk there from here (but I'd rather drive, it would take me around 45 minutes without rush-hour traffic), and I totally agree with almost everything you've said.  Thumbs up!

I remember reading that.

While the show is terrible, I've been intrigued by Oak Island for many years and think it's one of the few unsolved mysteries that might actually have something to it.  I watched a couple of episodes, but then realized there's no point because it would have made the news if they had found something significant.

All the History Channel is good for now is providing material for South Park to parody.

Talk to me in the spring.  It's cold and wet, and I'm feeling lazy.  Mind you, the Michigan brothers are probably home for the winter, so this might be an ideal time to go strolling around!

At first some of the wilder speculations were kind of fun, like forays over to Scotland to seek out the Templars connection a la 'Da Vinci Code'.

But despite the core mystery still being quite interesting, the show has followed a common path of escalating preposterousness.  I think 'Mountain Monsters' has more credibility at this point.  ::)

Kongfish

What I don't understand is how you have a guy show up on the island, he tells you he has a pretty good idea of there being evidence of there being clues or something in Sheaksperes plays.
I like everyone else was like," OOOKKKK, and do what did you say?
Then the guy TAKES THEM right to where he says there should be clues, rocks, or something.  He then goes on to show them that what he has discovered has factual evidence to show that he is a person who has a natural ability to make connections directly regarding some aspect of the mystery  that defiantly has a direct correlation to some unknown part of the mystery. Now, I would have quietly motioned for some of my crew to slip back to the cars and disable every mode of transportation that could have gotten that guy Off that island. He would have become my new BFF. I would have given him total access all the books, clues, writings & any other thing he wanted and see, what he might see, that no one else even made a connection to.That guy holds the answer to some part of a master keyhole in his head & his research. It's to bad those two chowderheads weren't smart enough to keep the swede close by. He may just be the key that unlocks apart of a puzzle piece that will lead them to clues & uncovering where a central codex or index or sorts is located at. That swede was on to something and they just let him walk away. The way he understood why & where the location of those rocks were shows that he has a mind that thinks like at least one person involved with that mystery.
But since the brothers have let the producer turn the treasure hunt into a bunch of guys talking about going on a treasure hunt. Two entire episodes dedicated to pulling old rusty pipes out of a much bigger old rusty pipe. I know treasure hunting isn't always fun, they don't have to make us watch rust growing on a pipe.
Another thing they've totally missed the mark on is presenting a through presentation of all the different information about the different clues they have.
Hell, I never knew anything about Lot# 06, or several other parts of the story that they just kinda drop a sentence or two about here and there like we all know everything they know. Hell you never know what some viewer might figure out if they knew what we were trying to figure out.
Like the other night on the last show, the one guy was hunting for stuff out in the woods and he was looking over toward the left, and he never even saw the Big Red X with an Arrow pointing to it, that he walked right by. 😲😵😱😱😱

The answer to how, & where to dig to block off the water booby traps.

Ciardelo

Stephen King is right. They should not have let the swede get away.

The show's kinda become like Gilligan's Island.  "Wait, this week, are they really going to do it?  They're soooo close!  Oh man, darn, I guess not.  Well what's their next chance then?"

There was a guy early on that had a pretty good idea about those marker stones and they spent a whole episode building it up and then a minute dismissing it at the end ... and then, wait!, next theory!, forget all that rock formation stuff, there's something weird in the swamp!

I just wish they'd add a new member to the crew, a Mary Ann type maybe... in a really tight sweater.

Dammit!  Zeebo's right!  This is nothing but a 21st century spin on Gilligan's Island, minus the babes and the laugh-track.  And BB's right, bring on Mary Ann Treasurehunter!!!

I am really interested in Oak Island, but the History Channel is garbage. Remember, this is the same station that had staged fights between lumberjacks on the show "Ax Men" and overweight actors on Pawn Stars. Forget learning anything on that channel. The brothers seem ok, but they have the folks at History Channel urging them to do stupid shit for ratings. Planting a coin for instance. Fuck I hate what that channel has become. You can thank Nancy Dubuc, the President and CEO of History, who also owns LMN and a slew of other garbage stations. She would rather get a paycheck making cheaply produced scripted "reality" shows than make an honest genuine television show.

Makes me sad how the History channel just does weird vaguely historical reality shows now.  I remember 20 years ago it was really cool educational TV, a refreshing blast of informative documentaries 24 hours a day.  At least that's how I remember it.  It had a big WW2 documentary bias, it seems.  It was great.  You're lucky to get any history at all on there now.

Fucking "Swamp People", are you kidding me?

Hey man, good to see you. It is a shame, I am starting to think public beheadings might be a good thing. I mean, how did Honey Boo Boo become a household name?

TLC and Discovery did the same thing... they are pandering to the noorification of 'merca.  When i stopped paying for cable a few years back it made me realize how much better watching "TV" is without cable's limitations.  Now when I want to watch documentaries I search them out.  It's like having your own TV channel that you alone program custom made for "yew."  Put on those pirate's patches and go get you some real stuff to watch.  Cable and most of it's useless programing is for the mindless drone's out there that listen to C2C and buy-in to religion.

The most recent guy watched a robot cam in 10x which showed a pole, which then vanished. The cam did not go to the floor level, where the trunk and body are supposedly, so with zero evidence of treasure he said he wouldn't suggest sending himself down there at the price he would charge. The brothers split on the results of why nothing was seen and we moved on.

Meanwhile, off the air a big find seems to have come out.
