Forced to lay off 45 of a staff of 70 production operators and management. Our largest customer could not compete against the demand for the lowest price, that being from China...

There is no unemployment insurance in China...you show up to the factory and continue to produce products for which there are no orders...the government pays for that which you cannot sell...then, that product is dumped on the world market...below the cost of any other competitor...

We will try to hold on as long as we can...but the constraints placed upon us by US law is dictated by the trade policies supported by our government, both Republican and Democrat...

You want to make a difference? Do as the Germans do, buy products made in your own country. It's rather simple, pay a little more for the US product, or pay more taxes for those who cannot find jobs...

Happy Holidays...be thankful for that which you have...

Well this sucks. I knew you had trials coming up when you mentioned the China situation several days ago, but didn't know you had so many employed.

This non-equal playing field isn't capitalism.  It's slaughter via government subsidy/slavery/sweat shops.

When the "global village" phrase regarding economics was being pushed so hard many years ago, the Utopians neglected to mention that various areas of the village would/could play by different rules.

Thanks a lot, Nancy...seeing my daughter in her rehearsal for the Nutcracker at the University of Arizona was a good uplift! She's a mouse and angel! Of course! lol

This is even better than the MADD folks arrested for DUIs or the cop to get a MADD award showing up hammered because they are hypocrites. This dude, maybe an illegal, was going to a International Drug Policy Reform Conference and was keeping it real.

Nestle board meeting:

"How do we appear more evil?"
"Hmmm... Hire people in third world countries to catch fish that we can grind up and sell to first world pet owners?"
"I like your line of thinking but do we really need to pay them? Better yet, why don't we demand they pay us for the privilege of working for our company?"
"I believe we have reached the top of the evil pyramid, boss."
"Great. Notify Satan, tell him we're proceeding ahead of schedule."

QuoteAs I've mentioned previously, my cancer treatment included a colostomy. That's the procedure where they remove part of your colon, then attach what's left to a hole they've opened in the wall of your abdomen, because what's left isn't long enough to reach your ass. You eliminate waste through this hole, or stoma, into a bag attached to your skin with adhesive. The process goes 24/7; you no longer have any control over when you shit.

But even more curious is that after the procedure, you still fart. (Read More... http://threefortyam.blogspot.com/2012/06/bag-farts.html)

I thought dumping was illegal and we were not supposed to do business with companies who did that.  Years back Japan was accused of dumping.

Why do people take drugs like this?  Their lives must REALLY be horrible, for this to be a good thing for them.

I haven't seen everything yet, but now I can scratch Golden Girls Grannie Panties off the list of what I had left.   :o

I found them in your dresser drawer. You really need to lock your door when you're not home.

Welcome to Yorkshire!

That's last weeks news, they've done much more burly things since then. Please keep up, I know it's anathema for a southern softie to suffer any more hardship than running out of cotton wool wipes to remove their eye make up or have a ladder in their tights, but a pint is a pint.

Some "nurse" caller into an Ian show about Scientology I was listening too whilst peeling potatoes just mentioned this guy:
http://fireburndoctor.com/
He claims to be able to cure any burns via remote access* and for free. So anybody deep frying a turkey or cooking stuff today put this number in your cell phone, just in case!! ;)

* more properly: "we immediately provoke a subliminal neuro-bypass which redirects and inhibits the toxic signals of self-destruction that his or her brain has sent in response to the thermal accident. Since the whole operation takes place from a distance, we have called this specific procedure Distant Subliminal Neuro-Bypass (DSNB)."

This forum is amazing.  You come here for friendly chats about how George Noory sucks and years later you end up asking Michael Horn how often Billy Meier fists him.

Doesn't Billy Meier have no arms?

LOL

Well since Meier only has one arm Horn only gets fisted half as often as he'd like.

I'm here all week. Don't forget to tip your bartenders.

2001: A Space Odyssey was not a financial success during the first weeks of its theatrical run. MGM was already planning to pull it back from theaters, when they were persuaded by several theatre owners to keep showing the film. Many theater owners had observed increasing numbers of young adults attending the film, who were especially enthusiastic about watching the 'Star Gate' sequence under the influence of psychotropic drugs. This helped the film to become a financial success in the end, despite the many negative reactions it received in the beginning.
