Lovely Bones

Aw, that implies that I have looks. Thanks :)

Well, like Judge Judy said in a book title I recall, "Beauty fades.  Stupid is Forever."

I'm much more annoyed by stupid than I am by lack of looks.

QuoteHonestly, this woman bothers me. She is on a dangerous path. I don't mean to judge or pretend like I know best, but coking and tanning like this is ridiculous.

It's fine to use your looks and body to get what you want. Lots of women and men do this, and they succeed immensely. However, she's not being smart about it.

Agree.  But it's a rare 16-year-old (if she's indeed 16--I still have doubts) who makes all smart choices.  My question: where are the smart parents of this girl to help her make good decisions?  Are they as ready to exploit her as anyone else?

Yep.  Her mother is their "manager" and is going to teach his family tolerance and acceptance.

Dating younger women (20-22ish, not 17) is like living the movies "Memento" and "Limitless" at the same time.  At any given moment, you have absolutely no idea what the fuck she will do, but at the same time, you know the likely RESULT of anything she will do.  From my experiences, if this adorable and endearing stage of the human female life cycle doesn't end by 24-25, it never will, and rapidly becomes much less adorable and endearing by age... (mumble).

That said, I can't imagine Dougie here "connecting" with this girl using anything other than his willy.  51 and 17?  He's too old to keep up with her, and she's too young to communicate with him in any meaningful way.  A 17-year old and a 20-year old may both try to act more "adult", but are worlds apart in the ways they do it, and its effectiveness.  (For the psychologically inclined, I think the difference may be the 20 year old being in Formal Operations with both feet on the ground and the dust more settled, but that's just a hunch.)

Lovely Bones

Don't know if any of you ever heard of the "half-your-age-plus-seven" parameter for age disparity in relationships, a rule of thumb that's allegedly a guide to "acceptable" age differences.

By this calculation, Dougie's lower age limit for a partner would be 32.5 years (just a few scant years older than the current Mrs. Hutchinson).  On the other hand, he could apparently be effectively matched with an 85-year-old.

I have no idea how much scientific backing there is for this theory, and there is supposedly an age at which the formula falls apart, IIRC, though I don't recall how that works.

There's no science to the half plus seven rule.  It is just a rule of thumb way of saying that a wider range of partners are suitable for you as you get older.  I'm unsure of the origins, but the "plus seven" likely holds no significance other than equating the ages at 14, which is just a few years below age of consent in many societies.

Actor Doug Hutchinson, famous cult actor for memorable guest spots on the x-files (as Victor Toombs) and LOST (head of the Dharma Initiative on the island back in the 70s)  8)
He also was in one of Noory's favorite films, "The Green Mile"

I guess I should have inserted a "sarcasm alert". Doug Hutchinson is a star on the level of Willie Ames, Cliff DeYoung or Joey Scarsbury...which is to say, he ain't no star.

Noory things Doug is a star, of his favorite movie "The Green Mile" though.  :o

I call BS on the 17-20 thing. That is something that has been pumped into our American society heads. I work with people as young 17 through to their 40s-50s. I see how a 17 year old acts and how a 20 year old acts. THEY ACT THE SAME WAY. One MIGHT have a LITTLE more maturity but you can't see it. It's not until 24-25 until you start seeing actual smart decision making going on. Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone. Trying to apply to a brush to everyone is, to me, fucking retarded. You need your head checked if you think applying a "law" to everyone will work. It doesn't. It won't. EVERYONE is different, something our government and our society has a REALLY hard time accepting. Yes, laws exist to protect us, but again, i think some of our laws relating to sexuality are fairly stupid and seem to apply only to the poor and not the super rich like this guy and girl. Why aren't they going to jail? This is illegal. If any of you tried this, you would be in jail. WHY isn't he? He's rich/wealthy. Only difference.

The slight difference you note is magnified to me because I work primarily with people in the 18-25 age range, gender split 80/20 female. Occasionally socializing, but never mixing it with work interactions.  If the range was wider, the slight differences may not seem so apparent to me, but they are quite obvious, and consistent.  I can see changes in the same person from year to year.  They aren't seismic shifts in personality, of course, but just subtle differences suggesting that the person has figured out a little bit more about how this "life" thing works.  I'm certainly not suggesting it would be true for ANY 17 and 20 year old we sampled.  Individual differences account for a great deal.

I see your point. And i suppose that the drinking age being what it is in the US, there might be a gap between 18 and 21 that i might see if i was there. But yes, 18 and 22 year olds socialize all the time up here in the same areas. They have the same friends, drink at the same locations and go to college or work in the same locations. Yes, they are individuals. Yes, they grow differently. But the similarities between the group is just too large for me to really see a huge difference. This could also lead to a discussion on how the drinking age in the states is so corrupted and how the cases (per capita) of alcohol abuse/substance abuse in the US compared to canada are so damn high. Drinking age of 21? You're telling kids they're adults and can go die in wars and yet can't drink? HA. Oh im on a role with destroying how north american society thinks.

In my early 40s, and most women in their mid 20s seem like dizzy teenagers to me. I'd get lonely spending an hour with one.

You just have to learn how to speak ditz, and they will soon sound like they're discussing the moral implications of the industrial revolution, not just meaningless nonsense.

Which it is.  (apologies to Anton Chigurh)

Oh, im slowly getting there myself. Not going to tell you how old i am but i am younger than you by at least a decade :P But i can still relate to girls in my 20s, no matter how much i have to "think dizzy talk".

I would absolutely fucking PAY to hear a sit down conversation between Courtney Stodden and Steven Quayle.  My mind is meta-blown - blown even thinking about it being blown.

A new article that came out today:

Bikini-Clad Courtney Stodden Paints on Abs, Flaunts Cleavage in Steamy Photo Shoot

US Magazine
Someone sure needs attention!

On Thursday, 17-year-old Courtney Stodden hit the beach in L.A. for a photo shoot wearing a tiny white bikini. The aspiring singer-actress, who married 51-year-old Doug Hutchison in May, wore sky-high heels, a push-up bikini top and even painted on ab muscles for her seductive beachside shoot.

So how is Stodden's marriage to the Green Mile actor even legal? The couple claims that up until their wedding they were never physically intimate. "I was a virgin," Stodden told Good Morning America in July. "I knew that if I kept that, I would be blessed with a beautiful gift. And God did! He blessed me with my soulmate."

Stodden's parents, who were "fully aware" of Hutchison's age, gave their blessing and parental consent for their daughter to wed the man 35 years her senior. It was actually Stodden's mom who first suggested the duo get married in a state that would allow it.

Good Morning America verified Stodden's age by tracking down her birth certificate; at the time of their interview, she was in fact 16. (She celebrated her 17th birthday in August at Disneyland with Hutchison.)

In an interview with E! News in July, Hutchison slammed rumors that his teenage bride had her appearance enhanced by cosmetic surgery. "God was her only plastic surgeon," he said. Stodden added: "I was born this way out of the womb."

Did they match the toe prints on the hospital records with her current tootsies???

At least bang a 16 year old that DOESN'T look like she's 40. The only reason TO bang someone considerably younger than you is for looks.

EastCoastLady

This marriage is wrong on many levels. Her parents must be trying to cash in.

A few years back a study demonstrated the prefrontal cortext (reasoning/judgment area) wasn't fully mature until 24/25.  Recently I saw a blurb stating it continues to mature into our 40s.  While it is claimed life experience speeds the process of neural connectivity I think we'd be hard pressed to find a 17 yr old with enough life experience to bring her reasoning skills to par with those of a 25 yr old.

I agree 110% that Toddlers & Tiaras is disturbing.  I had no freaking idea. IMHO it's legalized child abuse & potential fodder for sickos.

Frys Girl

As "in control" as Courtney thinks she might be now, she's going to "grow up" and hate Doug one day, unless he does a GREAT job of filling the father role. Does she have a father present in her life? Did she?

EastCoastLady

FG - Stodden's father is around.  He seems to like the situation.  He told lalate news “Every father can only pray to have such a man behind their daughter.” He adds that his daughter is “one of the most level headed girls out there and I’m not just saying that because she’s my daughter. Doug is the nicest man I’ve ever met in my life.”  ::)

I think she's destined for porn.  She did the bikini shoot to put to rest rumors about her breasts being fake!  Mmmmkay so in order to disspell rumors her body is not real, she dons a fake tan, fake abs sprayed on even darker than her fake tan & fake boobs.   Clearly implants. Note the huge gap between the one cup & the boob w/the abnormal bubble top.  We only get those bubbles when our bra is tight & pushing them into that position - or  we've got implants.  Not that there's anything wrong with fake boobs - I can see why some women would want them.  But she's so young. Oh well, whatever floats her...uhm....well since she has her own built-in floation devices I'm not sure she'd need a boat.  Nevermind.

Frys Girl

Anyone can procreate, so I'm not shocked by any of this. At least she has all her legs and arms (and kidneys), so when the George Noory 2012/economic collapse comes, she can put herself to use.

I haven't paid attention to this thread until yesterday. Although the title is bad, it doesn't prepare one for what is inside. I read the last two pages last night and had no idea this story included Toombs! As though it weren't creepy enough.

This was special: "I think she's destined for porn.  She did the bikini shoot to put to rest rumors about her breasts being fake!  Mmmmkay so in order to disspell rumors her body is not real, she dons a fake tan, fake abs sprayed on even darker than her fake tan & fake boobs."

The part that gets it for me is not only are both of the bride's parents cool with the arrangement, but the Mother is also the married couple's manager?
How awesome is that Toombs? Do ya feel 51 now? This whole thing wreaks of greed and lust to me. But I will refrain from negatively judging as best I can. On that note..Let's hope she doesn't get pregnant..

Frys Girl

We keep insisting that she's dumb and brainwashed, and these are both probably true, but she's "smart" in the sense that she understands market forces. If she says "my boobs aren't fake," she knows that 1. they are 2. we won't believe her but 3. we will look anyway. I don't know who is worse then! We ?? She? The parents? MTV? X-Files? My lord Chris Carter really made a monster.
