September 29th 1999,  I just herd this on streamer, and I sware at the end of the interview Art had with Gordon Lightfoot, He called him "Mr. Bigfoot"

I'll defiantly listen.  I am a fan of Lightfoot's recording.  He's going to be in my neck of the woods in a few weeks - but friends tell me that when they saw him last, he was - well - not in the best shape on stage.  He seemed intoxicated, and not in "just a little for fun" kind of way.

So - I'm waffling on popping $$$ for tickets.

I got into Gordon Lightfoot because of 'If You Could Read My Mind' being played as bumper music on Art shows.

this is true for artists more than most would probably guess.  they are so often discovered by people who hear their music in mediums like talk show bumper rotations.  it's why i just PUKE when an artist or a record company will not allow their song to be played.  don't they want ears?

I saw Gordon Lightfoot last summer. His band was in top form. Lightfoot, however, sounded a little shaky. Don't know how much longer he will be around.

I also got into Gordon Lightfoot because I heard "If You Could Read My Mind" as one of Art's bumpers. Fell in love with the man's music, own all of his albums. Now I need to track this interview!

Man, that's sad that Lightfoot appears to be heavily indulging--at his age!  That's fine when you're 20-something, but even Keif and Mick are clean living in their 60s.  I'm so damned old that I remember when Lightfoot first hit it big.  It was a little too mellow for my hyperactive ears back then--I required Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult and the Stones.  I pretty much dismissed Gordo as a boring hippie back then.  Then I recalled enjoying hearing Gordo as C2C bumper music much later.  A year or so ago, after the Seaco terrible mining disaster, I was googling YouTube for Merle Travis' song "Dark As a Dungeon."  Everyone has covered that song and Gordo's version, recorded in the early to mid-1960s was so chilling that it nearly melted the enamel off my teeth.  Folk music like that can be as crushing as the loudest metal.
