I'm all for reason and I am absolutely a fan of the achievements of western civilization--the positive ones, anyway. But....well, it's funny. For all the faults and failures of the 60s generation and its "revolution", I'm rather glad it helped unveil the hypocrisies and corruptions of the status quo, not to mention dismantling a stifling, archaic and anachronistic, fear-and-religion based pseudo-morality--which the establishment paid lip service to in public and completely disregarded in private. (Oh wait, what's changed...? *cough Bristol Palin cough*)

Not that the 60s generation was without its OWN corruptions, hypocrisies and fallacies, some of which, sadly have proven as bad as those they sought to replace (this is without even going into the whole issue of "selling out", whatever that even means anymore). But would I want to go back to a world that was stuck, morally and artistically, somewhere between the Victorian era and the Cleavers?

No effin' way, brotha. Is there a lot of bs and dirt and filth out there now? Absolutely. But at least it's no longer hidden. It's out in the open, and the repression and prejudice of the society and culture that the 60s generation sought to destroy can (hopefully) never, ever return.

Now we just need to find a balance.

i think you're wrong.

I'm wrong that it's a momentary hiccough or I'm wrong that Mordred has adopted another guise? Sure, they sound very similar, but now you've let us all know they're not. Yet, here we are derailing again. Sorry, Morgus. I swear I'm trying to remain fixated on Doug and his bride, but they are not nearly as interesting as military wanna-bes and political pontificating.

how about starting a new thread in the open lines section for that topic if its so interesting.
would make it easier to find with an appropriate title for it too. ;)

Well, as you say, it never left, so it doesn't have to return! ;)

I don't agree about balance being required.  If you wish to solve a societal problem, you hit it fast, hard, and often.

See the attached video - it's a creepy interview of Doug Hutchison and Courtney Alexis Stodden. She constantly makes these very weird facial gestures... like this is all about publicity, or she's high on drugs.  :o :o :o

i suspect she's a really fucked up girl... not that i'm exactly going out on a limb saying that, though.

I think she's just a trailer trash, sub 70 IQ waste of flesh and blood acting her naturally moronic self. Can't wait until these two wretched creatures decide to further pollute the planet by breeding.

Yeah that was just plain creepy. She brags about being a virgin but dresses like a slut. She says she's an "old soul" but acts like a immature psycho. And who would really take her claim of being religious seriously?

16-Year-Old Bride Courtney Alexis Stodden

Who is the teen bride that has captivated the nation after her marriage to an actor 35 years older than her?

Courtney Alexis Stodden is the 16-year-old pop singer who wed her 51-year-old boyfriend Doug Hutchison in a parent approved Vegas ceremony and RadarOnline.com has a photo gallery and all the details about the teen sensation.
“She is a beautiful girl,” her mother Krista Stodden told RadarOnline.com about her daughter.

A model at age 12, Courtney signed with the John Casablanca modeling agency, and from there entered the world of Donald Trump’s Miss Universe pageant at age 15. She was Miss Ocean Shore WA, USA and represented her city in the Miss Washington pageant. Courtney is also a pop singer with three original songs called We Are America, Crazy, and Car Candy.

She wed her beau, an actor who has been in the movie Green Mile and the TV shows Lost and The X-Files, on May 20 in Las Vegas with the full consent of her parents.

“Every father can only pray to have such a man behind their daughter,” Courtney’s father Alex Stodden told RadarOnline.com.

Meanwhile, Krista said her daughter was a “good Christian girl,” who was a “virgin when she married Doug.”  The proud mom also slammed reports that her daughter has had plastic surgery: "She is a beautiful girl. She has real breasts, real lips, she's not plastic."

16-Year-Old Bride’s Husband Doug Hutchison: ‘I’ve Been Hacked!’

The husband of 16-year-old bride Courtney Stodden wants to set the record straight â€" his online accounts have been hacked and he is not sending nasty emails.
Doug Hutchison exclusively told RadarOnline.com that all of his email accounts were “corrupted or compromised,” and he is trying to get the message out that someone else is pretending to be him.
“I was hacked, and anyone that is receiving questionable emails that are rude, blatantly crude or are saying we want money, please know that they are not from me,”  Doug implored.
He went on to say that he’s even bought a new computer in case the hacker somehow had access to his old one.
RadarOnline.com received a tip that people were receiving threatening and rude emails from Hutchison, who denied they were sent by him.
“I’ve changed my password, my security question, nothing seems to work,” Doug said.  “So I surrendered - I cancelled all of my AOL accounts that I’ve had for 13 years.
“I haven’t been sending any of those emails.  I’m doing everything in my power to protect myself from this malicious hacking and it has been a nightmare to scramble to fix the damage they’re trying to do.”
The one thing that isn’t a nightmare for Hutchison though is his relationship.
“Married life is divine with Courtney,” he told RadarOnline.com.  “We are still so absolutely in love and enjoying the ride together. We will be doing it until the day we die and beyond.”
He said that he knew there would be controversy when he married her, but “it never, ever crossed my mind or Courtney’s mind that this would be so upsetting to people.”

16-Year-Old Bride Courtney Stodden Reunited With Her ‘Pink Dog’

Teen bride Courtney Stodden has been reunited with her favorite pet “pink dog,” and RadarOnline.com has the first photo of the happy couple.
Courtney and her Chinese crested dog Bazaar have been separated since she moved to Los Angeles to live with her 51-year-old husband Doug Hutchison, and when she finally got him back this weekend she was overjoyed.
“I’m so glad my pink dog is back with me,” Courtney exclusively told RadarOnline.com.
The doggie’s pink hair is styled by Courtney’s mother Krista who said she dyes Bazaar’s hair pink once every two weeks and uses products that are safe for animals.
The little pup is adjusting to life in LA, where Doug already had two dogs.
“There have been a few accidents in the house, but they’re getting used to each other,” Krista said.

Doug Hutchison & 16-Year-Old Bride: 'Nothing Inappropriate About It Whatsoever'
Video of Doug & Courtney

Actor Doug Hutchison and his 16-year-old bride Courtney Stodden are making no excuses for their relationship.

In wake of RadarOnline.com breaking the news of their controversial marriage, the couple have given yet another television interview â€" this time with E! â€" to defend their marriage and 35-year age gap. (Last week, the couple went on Good Morning America in their first on-camera interview).

"Our communication was very innocent and open - there was nothing inappropriate about it whatsoever," Hutchison told E! News in an interview that aired Tuesday night.

"There were no sexual innuendos, there was nothing until we began to fall for each other. We started using the L-word and confessing to one another we were having feelings for each other."

In the somewhat bizarre interview, Hutchison nervously strokes his dog while Stodden gets a little over-zealous with the camera, attempting sexy faces and poses.

As we first reported, Stodden is an aspiring actress and singer who was a virgin when she married - but the same can't be said for 51-year-old Hutchison.

"I've got to say, if there's only one caveat to the ocean between our [ages]," he said, "I wished I was a virgin when we met."

"It's fine that he wasn't!" Stodden said. "He's a tiger!"

"You're so bad," Hutchison said, avoiding an on-camera kiss with Stodden.

The Green Mile actor explained that they were both advised not to go public with their relationship because it would hurt their careers, but the couple had no plans of hiding their love.

"I believe there's one rule in Hollywood, and that's that there are no rules," Hutchison said.

"That also can apply to love, and there are no rules, so... Was I afraid [of going public]? No."

As for speculation that Stodden appears much older than her 16 years, Hutchison said there's only one person responsible for that: God.

"God was her only plastic surgeon," he said, washing away rumors that his wife has had a lot of work done.
"I was born this way out of the womb," Stodden gleamed.

More proof he doesn't have a clue. Maybe they really are made for each other.

Damn.  If she looks this washed up at "16," she's going to look like the crypt keeper at 30.  I'm 42 and I look younger and much classier than this one.  I have a 24-year-old daughter. I'd be hiding my head in shame as a parent if my daughter acted, dressed, looked like her.

she's trying so hard to be trashy.  she couldn't be less appealing. and gross.  and tragic

i'm pretty sure if i saw her in real life i'd probably consider the possibility that she's a post op tranny.  she looks a little mannish.  and like she's had a shit load of work done

If that was my wife, I'd tell everyone she was 29.

Easy to preach peace and love when you are enjoying a cushy lifestyle delivered to you on a silver fucking platter. Our forefathers destroyed, killed, and pillaged to carve out an existence for their progeny, a progeny that squandered that inheritance in a single self-serving generation.

Current Americans no longer have the bone for this sort of thing. Decadence is the natural arc.

His ties to Sidney Korshak and the Chicago/Vegas/LA mob probably helped more than his beliefs in the Baby Jesus.

But from Conrad to Paris in a few generations is definitely a declining gene pool. At this by 2040 the Hilton gene pool will probably be reduced to a paramecium in a Kleenex.

Believe what you choose. I think Paris Hilton is self indulgent. I am pretty sure she is rich. I am fairly certain her fame was initiated more by a video of her in some sex act than daddy's money. Daddy's money didn't hurt. Funny how Linda Lovelace hardly made it out of obscurity, only to fade back into that same obscurity. All that being said, so what?

The reason people don't like Paris Hilton is she has what most of us want, an unrestricted, unfettered, do-as-they-may lifestyle. There are thousands if not millions of stupid people and we pay little to no attention, but this one has money.

Paris isn't the dry end of the gene pool. She is smack dab in the center of the bell curve. The people that dislike/hate her because she doesn't do what they think is best may be well intentioned. To some degree that dislike is the same class envy that some call redistribution of wealth.

In the same way the blonde woman that Dave married is just a kid that is physically provocative to many males and perhaps some females. But I think placing her in a skank category may be a bit much. Sure the argument can be made she isn't a deep thinker, I really can't say. The two of them got married and they are riding the celebrity train as far as you will let them.

Infatuation with this shit, right or wrong, is the illness.  It is a consumption of Tabloidism instead of the mundane you define as your life.  The free individual would say "Who gives a fuck" and then mow the lawn.

Completely agree. Take a look at magazine sales, news sites, or prime time tv. It is awash in trash celebrity, who gives a shit what Kim Kardashion (sp) thinks? Screw me, its a lot more than care about our soldiers. It frikken sucks.

i remember reading an article about Paris years before the sex video.  her fame preceeds that farce.  but still ... empty celebrity.  she can be explained by privilege and wealth.  her celebrity is side effect of a collective jealousy from a sub population of people who want everything without actually doing any work

She and her sister became famous by showing up to parties when they were teenagers. Any party in New York or LA, they were there. And photographers were just eating it up because they liked their look. And of course, a whole subset of people who hung with them spun from that reflected fame, like the Kardashians and Nicole Ritchie. Amazing.
