I will miss ana. There aren't enough chicas here. Anyway what is pink socking? I don't want google it since google will use it to spy on me. Oh lord god I'm sorry for saying this, but I'm curious. Is it jacking off in a sock? Oh god I'm sorry. I'll go wash my mouth out with soap or something. Ew.

you misquoted me,  it does not involve socks

in fact, one of our cats was pink-socked by another cat

Ana defined it above in her goodbye post.

That is not what Mike V meant by pink-socking  (if that is an actual thing.  Dirt?  Not rocks, not oranges?  really?) and I know this because I also listened to O&A for a few years.

Oh lord, so it is possibly worse. I'm sorry for misquoting you. I just rearranged the words to make the quote as I interpreted your post. Just never ever mind this. It's getting way too weird.

Yeah, really too weird.  I certainly hope that this is a temporary absence.  I think this whole fiasco could not have been "trolled" any better.
Those chortles and giggles from Lisa, Tommy, and Georgie have become brays and guffaws.  You don't have to listen too hard to hear them.
Just saying...........................

Pink sock is a base euphemism for the inversion of the most caudal part of the colon after anal sex.

I find it less than humorous... it isn't smart humor. It is also insulting to use it as a chide in a post about the departure of what had been a fairly interesting poster.

I agree. She was great. It's also why I didn't quote Art Crow exactly.
Even when I used to post here in '08, people would always say in political/personal/sex threads (where the trouble happens), we'd say that the trolls were George and buds to make us fight and divide.... always unite under George Noory Sucks! And salsa!

y'all so butt-hurt

better in humor than your prior attempt... still juvenile. It is simple, you were rude. No rules against being rude in general. But don't get defensive when someone calls you on it.

This is my last post regarding the incident today. Mostly because I doubt any good will come of it. But Ana was a much more insightful and interesting poster than you. All of your posts together aren't as compelling as one of her less interesting posts. I will concede your avatar is better. So you have that.

Avi

I am very sad to see Anagrammy go. I, too, was perhaps (?) fooled by this Carruthers and his kiddie-diddling posts. I did not find them humorous in the least, but creepy in the extreme. I quite honestly thought he was a troll trying to paint this site as a gathering point for pedophiles and Jew-haters. I see little point in conflating Anangrammy's (or mine, or any other objector's) posts with a discussion on what truly constitutes humor - who's got it and who ain't? Freud, after all, defines humor as sublimated aggression.

Not if you imagine that they're nude from the waist down, and it explains that surprised look on their faces.  Like somebody just walked in on them.

General... as usual you hit it perfectly. That is exactly the look they have.

I will miss Anagrammy also.  Perhaps she will return.

I am by no means an apologist for MV, he certainly does not need one.  However, tell me what he did that was egregious.  He stated an opinion ABOUT sources of socially unacceptable humor.  Show me where he ever actually USED socially unacceptable humor on this forum, or anywhere else for that matter.

How many thoughtful people have been offended by unending diatribes and debased illustrations of one human being, namely George Noory?

When they persisted in questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let the person among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone...

Maybe we all have food for thought.  I do.

Point taken, Marc.  My guilt about throwing great big rocks at a simpleton like Noory is a personal shame, and I'm not proud of it.

Butttttttt ... George Noory still sucks ...  :-[

This difference is that his suckage is on global display, where ours is generally hidden within the most undeveloped areas of our minds.  We all suck from time to time, one way or another.  Picking up the rock is just one way to ever so briefly entertain the notion that someone else sucks much more than we do.

I feel bad, seeing as I started this thread. What makes it worse is the whole subject is moot, considering I don't buy for a second this girl is actually 16.

If there's fear now it's mostly pessimism spread by the Baby Boomers who sought to delete Western Civilization and are sore that some of it is still remaining. This is why the patriotism and community and innocence of earlier decades are now considered hopelessly naive.
You are brilliant.

At 31 and without children, Michael, you have a world of learning yet to do.  The topics you list as appropriate to laugh about are all about someone's great misfortune.
Pink socking included?

Next a poster from someone who would seek a place in America which would allow him to marry a sixteen year old. Michael agreed with that joke, too.
Who said I "agreed" with anything? I laughed at the joke. That is all.

You are about 10% as hip as you think you are.

it seems there are several iterations of pink sock. Another being the act of farting while another is... shall we say dining at the doorway. I did not find a variation involving a dirt filled sock and group beating on a gay guy... so dunno

MV/Liberace!

one more thing i'd like to add, and then i'm done with this thread (i hope):

i understand the reality inherent in the fact that not everyone likes everyone.  that's life, and it manifests its self in various ways when you take a bus load of differing backgrounds and opinions and throw them in a box together.

however, it needs to be understood that i am not coastgab, and coastgab is not me.  there are people here who have contributed far more to this forum than i have in recent months, and anagrammy was arguably one of them.  i feel like my status as an administrator here is incidental, at best... and it's a thankless pain in the ass, frankly.  it forces me to temper my posts in order to protect the forum from the inevitable reactions that follow when i truly say what i sometimes want to say.  i would LOVE to be able to post anonymously, without consequence, like the rest of you.  not only do i not get the pleasure of doing so, i also get the displeasure of constantly fielding a sea of privately lodged complaints and demands from people who have decided to feel offended by something.  anyone who says they are "pleased" to know my afternoon was recently interrupted by this can blow me.

i feel like i should address this:

Quote from: anagrammy on August 15, 2011, 10:51:32 AM
I am pleased to hear that Michael received many PM's about Carruther's objectionable post that it was so great to screw a "girl" who's ass fit in the palm of his hand (really--a three-year old?).  Michael defended him and removed the comment due to PMs which agreed with me.

your ability to selectively recall my full reason for removing that post is comical, at best.  here is, for those who don't want to scroll, the explanation i provided at that time:

Quote from: Michael Vandeven on August 13, 2011, 11:44:29 PM
I deleted that post (I think two days ago) because it essentially derailed the thread into which it was posted. I also deleted it because of the numerous complaints it sent to my inbox. Yes, I do sometimes observe consensus when making tough calls.

as you can see, i clearly explained that i took into account MORE than just a series of private messages and emails when making that decision.  i don't like it when threads are deliberately derailed, regardless of the content that derails them.  the fact that the post's removal happened to satisfy anyone's position is irrelevant, but you artfully omitted some of the facts to make it appear explicitly otherwise.

to discontinue your use of the forum because you are unable to like ME is just silly, in my opinion.  i don't think it's fair to me that a user's satisfaction with this forum would hinge on his/her ability to like me.  no other user here has that expectation or burden placed upon them.

regardless of your opinions on this incident, one thing i'm proud to say is anagrammy was never censored in any way whatsoever.  you have no right to expect anything more than that from me.  you also have no right to demand that i censor others.  like it or not, one of the strengths of this forum has been my unwillingness to arbitrarily censor users based on opinion or taste alone.  that's not going to change just to suit the sensibilities of users.

Quote from: Michael Vandeven on August 13, 2011, 08:46:10 PM
If you have a problem with the way I run this forum or when/where/who/how I choose to censor, then perhaps this isn't the forum for you.

these are my words which anagrammy references in her grand departure.  i stand by them.  i'm proud of that quote, and i have no intention of changing one thing about the openness and tolerance this forum operates on.  you have no right not to be offended.

as you were.

seacrest out.

I may regret picking this topic to end months of posting silence, but...

Am I the only one who saw something like this coming with Ana? I like reading her posts too, and have had a couple pms with her, but I often got the sense that she was looking for more than this forum could provide.  She would refer to members here as her peeps, as like minded, as being like family, a sense of community, etc.  She seemed to think (IMHO) that everyone here was like minded, where I feel the real strength of the site is that there is such a wide variety of people - from differnet places, with different backgrounds, different political views, different sense of humour, etc.  The more she shared of her personal life, the more I was concerned that she was getting to "close", for lack of a better term, and maybe a bit needy.  Not right from the get go, but it is what I saw over time (again, just my reading of the situation).  As someone who has seen this many times, going way, way back to usenet, and pre-internet social media like compuserve and BBS systems, it seemed inevitable that she would eventually feel let down by people she thought of as being "closer" than they really are.

To me, this site is a bit like what the brit's would call their "local" - a neighbourhood pub where you can shoot the shit with (mostly) friendly faces, and where the drunken brawls are a kept to a minimum.  All are welcome, but you have to abide by the rules of the publican.  For Ana, it was becoming a bit too much like group therapy (again, IMHO), and no one wants that when they are trying to get a buzz on.

I hope Ana takes a break from the site, gets some distance from the situation, and rejoins us here later when the dust has cleared.  I'd be the first one to buy her a drink.

And MV, you will always drink for free when I am in your pub.

OK - it's your privilege to choose not to respond to my reasonable requests for your reasons for considering Obama to be the least qualified in any room.  Your personal attacks are unwarranted, however, and in the past you have asked people who post here NOT to do what you just did.  You may be unwilling to discuss race as a factor in our country's evaluation of this president, or his ability to get results, but that's really no reason to attack me personally.

This kind of treatment by an administrator drives people away, doncha know?

I said I was not going to say anymore on this, but as some of you will be happy to hear... I can be full of shit.

Whatever your take on funny, on inappropriateness, or any other point of contention... I guarantee you the internet will find a way to go way the fuck past your tolerance level.

I fuckin hate that the emotion took the "back off" option off the table. Ana has some good things to say. She said some things I thought were a bit obsessive. I really hope she comes back.

At the same time, no one has the complete answer on matters of taste.

oh fuck it... sometimes bad shit happens. In the over all no one here has been shot at.

I can't fix it... Well I could but where is the fun in that.
