Courtney Stodden - Don't Put It On Me

i'm not going to condemn a man for falling in love with and wanting to bang a hot, young blonde with a rocking body.  duh.  it's not so hard to understand that.  however, the fact is... he's ignorant of certain realities that i believe will present themselves in time.

Noory finally mentioned this story about Doug Hutchinson tonight near the end of tonight's live C2C open lines show.
He sounded very surprised by this development.

Less than a month after 51-year-old Lost alum Doug Hutchison married 16-year-old aspiring country singer Courtney Stodden, the couple went on Good Morning America to defend their nuptials and share a few "fun facts" about their relationship.

Fun Fact No. 1: Hutchison is actually four years older than Stodden's father.

Fun Fact No. 2: The couple met online and fell in love without ever meeting. (Her mom monitored their exchanges and was aware he was 35 years older than Stodden.)

Fun Fact No. 3: Stodden says she was actually a virgin when they got married.

Fun Fact No. 4: Stodden insists she has not had any plastic surgery done... really.

Fun Fact No. 5: The couple already has plans for a reality show.

Why is it that "reality" shows are so unreal?

Fun Fact 6...at least one of them will be in the obituaries by 2013..

Lisa just got around to reading this Coastgab thread to Georgie.  It's a good sign ... they like us, they really, really like us.   ;D

Clearly George's eight hours of show prep each and every day do not include the news channels.  He's the last one to know, always, which is why he did such hyperventilating tongue acrobatics when reading the AP wire when news was breaking re Osama bin Ladin's death while he was hosting Coast live.

After seeing pictures of her......there is no way she is 16. She looks 27 at least, with work done.

You're not kidding. She's about as sixteen as I am, and I'm forty-seven.
One assumes this was a publicity stunt. Now mind you, if Taylor Swift had proposed to me when she was sixteen, I'd have found a country where it was legal. Or founded one.

NO, more like unacceptable.  Michael, weren't you just saying that those creepy sex offenders should just take a bullet?  And now you are yukking it up with under-age-lovin' Carruthers who really wants a girl who's ass fits in his palm?

Small penis needs small vagina- and some day you will have a sixteen year old daughter.  I suggest you wise up and delete these posts before Nabila gets back.

I think you need to take a Valium and learn to separate humor from a legitimate endorsement of child abuse.

16 is the age of consent in 31 states... a majority of the country. Weren't you just saying, "Thank god for the rule of law"?

I don't think I require an assessment from you or anyone else with regard to my need to "wise up" or otherwise modify what makes me laugh. If you have a problem with the way I run this forum or when/where/who/how I choose to censor, then perhaps this isn't the forum for you. Also, since having accused me of racism due to my egregious act of daring criticize the current president, I haven't been particularly interested in your opinions on much of anything. Jerk.

most 18 year old girls / boys are children. as if the union of a fifty year old man and 16 year old starfucker isn't sick enough ... they will be the subject of reality tv show?!! someone needs to put a stop to this. or Idiocracy will likely become something of a documentary. our media is condoning idiocy. no. promoting it

also ... L O S T was pure crap. crap crap crap

MV/Liberace!

Oh, and since I think Taylor Swift is a vapid, talentless rich kid who used her dad's money and connections to facilitate her contribution to the continued degradation and erosion of art in this country, it's reasonable to conclude I'd find humor in something bad happening to her.

I guess you also are offended by this bit of humor:

In other news, my wife finally turned 21!  Yay!
She can come to my gigs now!

What's really creepy is that this girl's mother sanctioned the whole thing, which makes "mom" a de facto pimp.

The marriage is still legal, however.  The right to marry the person of your choice is a very protected one.    I'd be for raising the age a person has to be to marry, but then there would be even more fatherless children.  Unfortunately, a lot of females do not wait until their age 18 to conceive a child, and if a shot-gun marriage makes these fathers more responsible, then I'm for it.

That does not mean that I don't think that this relationship isn't creepy.  The Hutchinsons' marriage is their own personal business and in the end, it really isn't anyone else's.

My and the rest of the public's business begins when and if the couple's life is idealized on "reality TV."  While I'm against censorship, I don't think that such a show would be more than prurient trash.  I'm already sickened by the Duggars in 19 and Counting.  The Duggars are more than just Christian fundamentalists, they are members of the Quiverful movement.  The Quiverfuls believe that a couple should have as many kids as "God allows."  Not only are the Duggars against birth control and abortion, but they are against abstinence.    According to the Quiverful movement, it's a sin for the wife to deny her husband sex upon demand.

I don't think that a person's religion and how many children she has are my business, until it's glorified on Reality TV.

Could just be a clash of values, which do vary depending on region of the country.  Where I am, a sixteen year old is a minor child. AI believe sixteen year olds need parental permission to get married, even where you are, right?

By the way, why did you delete Carruther's post if you didn't think it was inappropriate?

I deleted that post (I think two days ago) because it essentially derailed the thread into which it was posted. I also deleted it because of the numerous complaints it sent to my inbox. Yes, I do sometimes observe consensus when making tough calls.

I did not interpret his post as an account of the sexual abuse of a child. Nor do I now. Sorry. I just didn't read it that way.

Like every form of human communication, there is a context to forum posts which has to be taken into account when evaluating their author. Caruthers was posting regularly under the name Mordred on this forum beginning in June of 2008. He then went away for quite a while, and now he's back as Caruthers.  I mention context here because, unlike most of you, I was eased into his sense of humor over time. Most of you weren't. His only real mistake, as I see it, was failing to realize that before picking up where he left off.

I must be so frikken old that my brain isn't working.

The woman the 51 year old guy married... yeah she looks pretty. But all I see is "oh shit do I really have to explain why people have different opinions... again."

Anymore I see a young woman trying to be sexy and all I see is major borderline personality.

there are people out there who disagree with this philosophy?

I watched the Bill Hicks video (I guess that's who it was) that Michael provided above, and I certainly can see the influence he has evidently had on a few unnamed people who post on this forum.

I think he scrapes the very bottom of the barrel for his content ... one more thing for me to worry about, I suppose.  I have grandchildren growing up in this angry world we have become.

As Onan says people have different opinions. This is mine.  :'(

Unfortunately that's the way things appear to be going.  Too damned scary to just walk down the street anymore.
Everyone has a line that just can't be crossed.  And, hey, someone's going to cross it sometime.
I share your sadness, Scully.  But my years have turned me into quite the pessimist, and I'm not surprised when things devolve. People are, after all, people.
I'm going to wait it out.  It'll change again.  Maybe for the better.   :-\
OMG!  Do I have to apply for the optimist card now??   :P

I don't like flying into the storm. But the world we live in is safer than the tenor of the last several posts.

We need to remember over the top speech is more often than not less than harmless. That is why most people can laugh at Bill Hicks. He was a comedian. And frikken funny and poignant. That was his job. He did it well.

Everyone at sometime has said something offensive. Everyone has moments of limbic rage. Speaking over the top is a healthy coping mechanism.

If you disagree... lemme get my gun.

Actually I kind of agree with you on Hicks, even though I have enjoyed his act.  Yes, he's hilarious, and makes you think.  But his subject matter is always intended to make people as uncomfortable as possible.  I always felt like he was an example of what Satan himself would be like if he were a stand-up comedian.  His whole act is playing devil's advocate... drugs are good, etc.  If Satan were real, and were in a comedy club, don't you think he'd probably be the BEST STAND UP COMIC that you've ever seen?  YES, but don't listen to his lies.  And don't let your kids watch him.  I worry about people who get their life's philosophy from Hicks.

b_dubb

i love bill hicks.  but he was at his best when he did his 'life is just a ride' bit.  can't remember what the special was called but it was transcendent.  when bill was at his angriest ... and drunkest ... he could be downright scary.

don't discount bill hicks based on one clip.  you should watch American: The Bill Hicks story

got to disagree here. satan would make airport jokes, then get a prime-time shitcom with an overzealous laughtrack.
of course, in reality satan is too busy ruining a certain late-night paranormal radio talkshow to try comedy.

to get us back on topic here, how are the happy couple after a month or whatever it's been?
