Since no one is forthcoming with any relevant criticism of my post, I'll take a guess and say what your real problem is is that you disagree with what level of scumbag this Douglas Stingley is and/or how he should be dealt with.

My position is this. Pieces of shit like this need to be called shit from the highest rooftop and that he is such a level of piece of shit that he is worthy of it.

Up until the last few posts I have always thought your posts have at least been thoughtful. But your insistance goes beyond what I would call reasonable and enters into the area of a schoolyard chip on your shoulder.

The decision not to remove Fort Rock's name from this thread has nothing to do with his mental state or alleged actions against Art Bell. For us to avoid talk of Fort Rock's voluntary revelation of his name on a related Facebook group seems silly to me since it would not change the net effect of his decision to publicly reveal that information in a location where this forum's users would inevitably become aware of it.  Furthermore, he has posted numerous other items elsewhere indicating his real name, and anybody willing to spend two minutes on Google could find that for themselves using only the screen name he posted with on coastgab. I know the name was not revealed by FR on this forum, but it WAS revealed in a location tightly related to what we talk about here... and any moderately reasonable individual would know 90% of this forum's eyeballs would see it. Again... net effect.

His deceptions have been very intricate, highly involved, have messed with peoples lives and livelihoods and he has put in a great amount of effort to do so. They guy needs to be talked about the way he should be talked about without trying to maintain an appearance of being nice. No reason for it. He's a scumbag, just say it. And say it out loud. By saying who he is and what he is it does many things. It tells him he's not going to get away with this shit because we won't stand for it. It tells anyone that encounters him to beware. Don't really know what you mean here with most of it. We don't need anyone to moderate because I haven't done anything the moderator hasn't done, he posted his name and highlighted it. I have gone a 100 miles further trying to make sure everyone knows he is the scumbag he is and that the scumbag knows I'll say it.... which is my opinion and as far as I know I can state it.

Guys--I think this should just be dropped. Everyone's made their point clearly and forcefully, but the bottom line is we are all concerned about Art's reputation and safety more than anything else.

Assuming the person I'm communicating IS in fact the REAL Art Bell, he's well aware of ALL of this, including DS's name and profile, and I just received a message from him that he's taking steps to deal with all of this legally. End of story.

And no, no hints of a return, no statements of a big announcement, and no, I'm not going to ask him.

I almost wish I *wasn't* the one he chose to contact--as I told him, it's certainly not the circumstances under which I'd have liked to make his acquaintance. But for whatever reason I was in a position to help him get information he needed, so that is that.

We will see how this plays out. If/when the fake page is removed, I think that will be the final indication that this is all over.

I'm fully in agreement that the guy needs to have an eye kept on him and I'm pretty sure that's happening. It's also good enough for me to let it go. This seems awfully personal for you, though.

I also don't accept that you speak for "most people", and I don't understand why it's your place to make this your personal crusade. We all agree he's disturbed and needs help. But seriously, he's no longer on this site, and the people who need to know about him now know and are taking appropriate actions. The ball is in their court.
