Can you post a link for the Texas UFO story you discussed Fri night?  I'd like to read more about it.

here ya go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Levelland_UFO_Case

Thank you for the link (and the request for the link).

Wow. I just finished the Richard Sauder interview. Contrary to most I liked it. He is just plain nuts and it was sort of funny to hear Jimmy try to get a question in. Richard, sorry Dr., seemed from the get-go to be antagonistic. Why do interviews if you don't want to or are so antagonistic? Does ayahuasca give you bad hang-overs or something? His visions of a big, vampiric machine sucking off humanity who stand there blissfully unaware of their exploitation with a drugged-addled smile on their face. Jeez, as George might say! And that Putin is spiritual but Obama has no soul. Amazing. Ayahuasca is a hell of a drug.

Pretty far out tale this guy Jay Weidner is relating tonight.  Good Jimmy show so far.

Can you imagine Jorsh Snoory trying to present a show like this? He couldn't do it.

Nope he would have gotten lost on that path after the first signpost.

Richard Sauder made me think of the scientist Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty

Interview with Richard Mallett was best I've heard since Art Bell days.   Thanks, Jimmy Church, for doing your homework. Looking forward to Friday night.

Will definitely catch that as soon as it's posted to the archives.  (Btw, Jimmy your archives page needs better descriptions of shows, especially ones just with people's names I've never heard of - you gotta market that content better is all I'm sayin'.)

Stranger929

So has there actually been ANY movement towards podcasting? Why do a radio program and video tape it in the first place without recording the audio and putting out on mp3? That's as stupid a move as Art returning on Sirius/XM.

And how many months are in a day? Where's the fucking second part to the Dolan interview?

cweb

I'm (totally speculating) that there was maybe some technical issue or that they're trying to get everything up before making it public? Or perhaps organizing things in a certain way that may need more time? Or looking at future options for having paid subscribers (which Libsyn supports)? Once again, TOTAL speculation-- just guesses. Grain of salt, please.

Jimmy is capable of defending himself, but I've been on the Content Provider side before and it's not always as quick and easy as some think. It's taken over a month longer, but shit happens. Until then, there's Youtube.

I totally agree that video of radio programs (unless visuals are mandatory- at which point it's no longer radio) is pretty unnecessary. That said, you can always pull the audio from the video.

Been listening to Jimmy Church for a few weeks now... he's the real deal. It's nice to have an alternative to listening to Art Bell reruns all the time.

I just heard that a Jimmy Church hosts "Fade to Black" on Dark Matter, says he's "sitting in for Art Bell while he is 'away' from his network."  I hadn't realized it was still going.  Anyone know of this or his style?

He is pretty good. He has his own thread here:

Pretty much positive reviews from everyone. He still has a few annoying habits but other than that he is fine. MUCH better than Noory. Has a live show 3 nights a week Wens -Fri on Dark Matter Radio Network.

astroguy

Ah, thanks totally missed that thread. Maybe I should've used the Search feature.

Was just asked to be on the show next week.  I need to listen to an episode, but as the 8-ball would say, "signs point to yes."  Any insight into style?  (Saying this with full knowledge that Jimmy has been on this thread :) .)

I'm impressed with Jimmy Church's style. He knows his topic and does his homework. Asks fair questions. Is a gentlemen. I sense he is serious about putting out a quality product -- and it shows.

He's very conversational in his interview style so there's a real laid back feel to it, but he will definitely press you if he so desires. I think you two would have fun talking about Richard C. Hoagland...

One of the more professional hosts.  He's not quite ready for the big time, but he knows what he's doing and cares about his guests and subject matter.  He has a better handle on things than most of the others, IMO.

Don't be nervous.  You'll be fine.

Lol.  Okay, you have my e-mail.  Sorry for being really long with it.

Going back through some of the archives, at 1:21:00 with Michael Horn.  That's me he's talking about (the skeptic, Ph.D. astronomer)!!  And I could get into why* I "censored" Horn, though he should have a hard time legitimately claiming that when he and his main follower comprise roughly half of the total comments on my blog.

*I got sick and tired of him embedding videos, his responses being 10-page essays, him posting a gagillion links, and not actually responding to the questions posed and the topics at hand.

I think he his ready for the big time. He has a lot of previous experience. Church is doing a great job, as far as paranormal radio/podcast shows he is near or at the top of the list.

A astroguy Hoaxland debate would be awesome. Art would sometimes do shows like that and they were pretty damn good.

I don't think Richard would ever agree to that, though I'll save my reasons for a less public outlet.  I will say publicly though, that any debate I would ever do with Richard would need to have a set of topics agreed to before-hand and a moderator who agrees to keep both parties to those topics.  Why?  Because Richard has an entire world built around his work that he's been working on for 30-40 years.  It would not be fair to someone going against him in a debate to have every single topic open because that person would be at a profound disadvantage.

astroguy

Ug.  I wish I knew about the show a month ago.  Listening to Sibrel is painful, and every single one of these claims have been debunked.

The whole psychology stuff?  Utterly unconvincing.  Why do the astronauts punch or kick Sibrel?  Because they've spent 40 years dealing with jerks like him accosting them in public about this stuff.  Forty years later (well, maybe 35 at that time), you have Sibrel, a tall, relatively young guy, marching up to an older Aldrin and demanding he swear on a bible while calling him "a coward, and a liar, and a thief," ... what would you do, especially after having been lured there under false pretenses?

Or Armstrong looking depressed or upset at the news conference right after the landings ... how would you feel if you just spent three days in a tin can, a day on the friggin' moon (wow!), but then another three days in a tiny tin can.  Your every move scrutinized, in the same clothing, having to urinate and defecate in small bags, eating crappy food, and then you finally get home and you're dragged on stage to talk to a bunch of people when all you want is a shower and bed (and a real toilet)?  I don't know about you, but I don't do well the first few days being in a HOTEL (I have issues sleeping in a new bed for the first 2-3 nights), let alone in a tiny capsule for a week.  I'd be miserable.

Sorry Jimmy, your analogy of just coming off the Super Bowl win doesn't hold in this case.  It would if you then stuck all the players (before they've had a chance to shower or change clothes) in a tiny room for three days - give 'em a few bags of freeze-dried food and a few bags to "do their business" in - and THEN have them go talk with the press.

Sorry if I come across as P.O.'ed, but Sibrel and his ilk really tick me off by playing these one-sided games, giving you outright lies (yes, we could certainly read the original tapes if they were found), mis-statements (van Allen belts are NOT as dangerous as he portrays, or the stuff about lunar rocks from Antarctica), misdirection (see van Allen belts, or statements about why TV stations couldn't read the raw feed, or even his statements about how many hours in space the Russians had (it's quality, not quantity)), or these kinds of "well what would YOU do?" psychology things that leaves out the whole story.

Especially if you want to play that whole human psychology stuff, then actually put yourself in the WHOLE situation, with all the crap (literally) they had to deal with, how tired they would be after getting back, etc.  As opposed to, "Hey, they are the first people to get back from the moon, they should be excited and want to tell everyone about it!"  Remember, these are people, not robots.

I could go on, but I think I need to relax a bit, and that I've made my point.  As for the stars (I'm at 1:48:00 in the episode), well, I'll just link to my blog post on this from 6 years ago.  And yes, I really can discuss this stuff calmly, and did so recently in an interview with the Above Top Secret folks at Reality Remix (season 4 episode 2, also posted here).

Just discovering the show. Not bad. I'd love to have him on the air 3x/week and Art 2.
