Hey not that its any of my business what you do or how you do it, but I'm not going to be able to listen Friday night (stupid liquor business) - would you mind posting a synopsis after your broadcast, please?  Thank you.

MV,
Your comment about Verizon was extremely offensive to me only because you've probably never had to deal with Telefonica in Peru.  They provide fixed, mobile and internet services.  Because they were a monopoly for so long everything they do is like a favor you have to beg for.

GM: "Take my money and give me internet"
Telefonica: "OK, we will take your money but you need to beg a few more times before we will set you up"
GM: "You've already billed me, I've paid $100 more than I would have paid back home (USA) for internet that is 1/10th the speed, can you hook up my internet now?"
Telefonica: "Not yet, but if you are lucky a technician will come between next Monday and next friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm so you need to be there for us to hook you up"
GM: "I have a job, how am I going to stay home all week to get internet?"
Telefonica: "What does that have to do with us?"

GM to wife: "Can we call your cousin that works for Telehuevonica?"
Wife: "Sure, let me call"
.....
Wife: "They are coming this afternoon at 2pm to install"

Post installation....

GM calls Telefonica: "You shut off my internet, WTF!"
Telefonica: "You didn't pay your bill, so it has been disconnected"
GM: "No bill has arrived to be paid"
Telefonica: "Not our problem."

Bill shows up 2 weeks after the due date.

Welcome to South America.

Sorry for the rant, just been a long week.

I can't listen live, so I download the show and either listen on my commute or during my run. Thoroughly enjoyed the latest episode and I suspected that the Spec Sheet was pulled because of some B.S. overreaction to the Verizon comment. It was such an innocuous statement to begin with and for MV to be labeled as the driving force for Art Bell to distance himself from his network - it's a lie, simple as that. I've voiced my displeasure about the Dark Matter Radio Network on the forums before and how Keith Rowland, without any hesitation, puts on anyone and everyone (e.g. Carolyn Goyda) and expects the website to gain any traction by the time Art is clear to broadcast again. I'll continue to support you guys and also listen to Dark Weekend on soundcloud but there's very little reason for me to bother with Art's stream anymore. They don't deserve the page views.

Thanks for the support man, and glad you enjoyed the episode.

MV, from a certain perspective, Art's retreat back into retirement after Dark Matter was what he wanted.  One could say that he opportunistically used his issues with Sirius as a "reason" to quit.  I think you fell into the wake of this because I believe that Art wanted to completely pull back the shutters and get his old life back.  Once again, a blown out of proportion excuse was used to legitimate an over-reaction by cutting himself off from the Dark Matter site.  I believe he was looking for a complete way out, and pinned that reason on The Spec Sheet.  Just my opinion.

MV/Liberace!

That's as good a theory as any. I only know what Keith told me, as I've never had any direct communication with Art at any time.

Good show.   I don't know why you guys always rip on HTC.  I love the HTC phones I've had.  Also, total bullshit about you getting bumped from the DM network - you're right you have said much worse in the past.  Anyway, thanks for posting the show!

Ripping on Steve Ballmer always makes for a great show. Developers, developers, developers, developers!

Well, I'm a little late to this. I just had a listen. My thoughts:

1: It's unfortunate that The Dark Matter Network pulled The Spec Sheet from its lineup. It was the most legitimate-sounding podcast they had. Not once have I come away from my listening experience on Tuesday nights thinking to myself, "A crazy person must be talking right now."

That's exactly what happens every time I tune into DMRN.

2: I hate to admit it, but I've lost a little faith in Art. I've tried to keep an open mind. His dramatic exit after only six weeks of airtime was painful. No lie, it was the kind of pain that comes when you break up with a girlfriend or lose a pet. It was much bigger to me than just the loss of a favorite show. I have no idea why that is, and maybe I'm an idiot. But that's how it felt, and I'm sure most of you understand. So when he phoned into the Gabcast and talked about fighting the Non-Compete, I was encouraged, and when DMRN came together, I was excited. It got to where I was almost able to block out that lingering thought that I've had floating around in the back of my head the entire time -- that it is utterly insane to leave a show after six weeks of airtime because they've failed to grant you an impossible request, and then become baffled that they've decided hold you to the contract you've signed and replace you with a more consistent product, inferior though it may be.

Art is a remarkably dramatic person. We (his fans) have put up with quite a few of these tantrums over the years. Art Bell Drama is a tad inconvenient, but it's also exactly what makes him the best at what he does (and he is the best). I'm thankful for those six weeks, and I hope we get more once that NC expires. But I'm officially no longer holding my breath. I think this latest dramatic freak-out pushed me over the edge. I heard the podcast that caused Art and/or Keith to flip the fuck out. I came away from it thinking, "Wow, this guy really doesn't like Verizon." I did not for a second think that I was listening to a legitimate terrorist threat, because I know hyperbole when I hear it, and also because I am not an insane person.
