If speaking one's mind is now considered lunacy, then I'll proudly be considered a member of the lunatic fringe. As much as you'd like it, I won't be contained by your little box of silence.
you cannot see how creepy it is that you have all of that invested in a radio show?

Haha if after a full 48 hours one is still trying to convince people to take the low road, it might be a sure sign that you are one of the lunatics.

Who said I was trying to convince anyone to do anything? I said my peace, I'm just here following along and responding to asinine statements now. He's gone, I accept it, but it doesn't mean I begrudge someone who still wants to twist the knife a bit.

My goodness I was watching a show on the DVR with my child Bride and come back to this?  Of course I am not going to commit sewerpipe, I said all that tounge in cheek and I did not say anything that was not said here and over and over, spread out over 106 pages or so. My skin as I age is indeed getting thinner but my public skin has never been thicker. I just thought you would like to see how the same words used here would sound coming from me. I have not changed my mind about free streaming and intend to make it a reality one way or the other. I have asked Sirius to allow me to act as a Private Broadcaster, then as other shows do, I could stay on Sirius and would be free to stream all I want.
If they go for that all will be well, It would mean no pay from Sirius but I am good with that, I do not need the money. If Sirius says no, then I will, at the first opportunity stream from artbell.com.

Again, I am sorry that some people invested in a radio or a stream and if a deal is not reached will have lost out. You do not know what
was going on behind the scenes for those six Weeks and if you did I think you might understand, or considering the makeup of some of this
group perhaps not, but I was trying to act in the interest of the listener, not myself.

I still love this board. There is something about the core group that is somewhat loveable and I still feel that way, I do know trolls when I see them, and I can guess where they slime in from. I am toying with the idea of new hours for the show....

There is only one good way to proceed and that is with a better product. That is what I intend to do.

This is good news. No?

jinwicked

I think most people here would have been much more magnanimous if this had come after a year, or even six months.

Six weeks is nothing to work out the inevitable technical and production problems that were going to come up.

Art got everyone excited, and a lot of long-time fans feel very hurt and betrayed. It's natural to lash out.

I'm not personally angry, only disappointed. But not too much. It always seemed to good to be true.

Art, I love you, man. But umpteen-times bitten, uh eleventy-times shy, or however it goes.

And just like that my mind is completely at ease. Thank you for explaining your thought process and what the plan is.
Having you back on the air we all have been so damn giddy then for Monday to happen it was like the biggest gut punch ever. Speaking of which, my one request is that your first guest back be Graham Hancock, can you strive for that Art?
I'm really curious as to what shows you watch Art, do you like supernatural (the show) or into like cop procedurals?

Mike Malloy is using that business model because he sucks and can't make a living peddling the crap he spews.

Oh, be nice.  Love is the answer.  Malloy is making a living using...get ready for it...Art' s original business model, before he sold the show to Premiere.

I love the fact that Art mostly avoids politics on the show, allowing all of us to dig in for the fun.  Smart guy.

I was wondering the same thing about what movie Art was watching last night. And....I guess he is nocturnal, even when he isn't working.

Glad to see Art's most recent posts RE: the show, but do we really think SiriusXM is going to take him up on his offer of doing the show for no compensation in exchange for free streaming? SiriusXM was only paying him $75k/yr, which doesn't seem enough to blow up their business model.

If SiriusXM refuses Art's offer and he decides to go free streaming on his own, the non-compete clause that Art himself confirmed here means that he couldn't go that route until September 16, 2015.

In other words, let's not get our hopes up just yet.

It would make ZERO financial sense for them to not let him do this, they can still make money off of subscribers and advertisement by letting art do this.

Art, I'm the guy with the wife from Cebu.  Art, I see how the people in this thread act like apes and insult each other and get off on misery.  Art, don't read this forum, this site, you're better off ignoring it.  Yes, I too am upset by your choice, but I don't know everything that happened and I know you do care about your listeners and that you are a good family man.  Art, you don't need to come here, and you're better off not coming and reading, it will just make your crazy and miserable.  I've learned from my long time online (I was using internet before most the the "people" here even knew what it was), even on usenet and IRC men were brutes, they enjoy this sort of thing, it's a very sad reality, a sad commentary on the state of the human race, but it's the same behavior that has led to wars, men swinging their penises at each other.  Thankfully, you don't see women doing that here.

Art, however you do it, PLEASE come back to broadcasting.  God bless.

I respectfully disagree. I have yet to read a compelling argument as to why they would do this. Why would subscribers still subscribe if they could get the show for free?

The whole point of Art Bell on SiriusXM is (was?) to get new subscribers via Art's show being exclusively on SiriusXM. What does free streaming do for SiriusXM other than pull both current and future subscribers away?

I agree. I know I would keep my subscription to listen to the show and for the on demand features. Seems like a win win to me.

It sounds as if Art went "all in" and dropped this proposal on Sirius with the ultimatum of "It's this or nothing." Sirius declined and now here we are. It's a really bad way of doing business and, in my opinion, showed very little concern for his listeners. I know Art says it's all to get a better program, but to ask an employer to change the terms of a contract and the basic way they conduct their business after 6 weeks is crazy. And to leave Sirius holding all of the cards with a two year Non Compete clause seems reckless. He needs to get back on the air, if it's not already too late for that, and handle this in a much less public way. Backing your boss into a corner with demands followed by threats is not the way to get things done.

The one thing I will say Art, is this has been entirely and unbelievably too dramatic. On both sides, in what happened Monday and in everyone's posting all crazy here.

I'm over the drama. I hope you get this cleared up fast and are back on the air where you belong.

Don't know where you get that idea from. Just because I'm posting here doesn't mean I'm part of the "Art, you're so great, please, please, take us back" crowd. My life went on when Art was gone and it will continue if he remains so.

Well, Art's a professional broadcaster and he wanted his show to excel. It wasn't. It's his show, his words, and his product. He wanted to entertain usm and he couldn't do it his way. I respect him for that.

Hey Art...Fuck the MAN!

So would I.  Maybe those of us who would keep our subscriptions despite free streaming should contact SiriusXM about the sentiment.  Seems as though vocal minorities causing major change are all the rage these days, after all.
