Quote from: Yorkshire pud on November 13, 2022, 12:31:58 PMI'll make it simple; If Putin hadn't sent his under equipped, under trained and uninformed military into a sovereign nation uninvited, he wouldn't now be getting his ego fucked and having to explain to the families of about 100000 troops why their son, brother, father, uncle isn't coming home.

Hah!  I will make it "simple" for you and encourage you to re-read the first post I made in this thread.  It also happens to be the first post in this thread.

I believe I said something like "I don't give a fuck about either side in this" and perhaps added in a bit about "both sides are corrupt."

My hope now is that they destroy each other, and people will move on to whatever the next "CrySis du Jour" will be.

We also should have left NATO years ago;  fuck the Anglishers, Krauts and Franks:  I want my money back.

Duginites, you have your orders 😑

QuoteAn ultra-right-wing nationalist in Russia dubbed "Putin's brain" has broken silence and called for the Russian leader to be toppled and killed. Alexander Dugin expressed his fury at Russia's retreat from Kherson in Ukraine

You have to hand it to the Russians, they say what they mean! In NATO countries it would be along the lines of "President/Prime Minister/Secretary General of NATO must resign forthwith"

Last one first. If the US left NATO it would be effectively impotent. Nowhere to base it's submarine fleet outside the US, nowhere to base it's strategic bomber fleet other than Guam or far east (And that's arguable if that would happen) outside the US, nowhere to have in the moment intelligence gathering outside the US.

Lost to the US would be Menwith Hill, Fylingdales, GCHQ and Pine Gap, intel bases (And those are only the ones I know about), Faslane sub base in Scotland.  Alconbury, Barford St John, Croughton, Fairford, Welford and a couple other sites that are used by the USAF at the invitation of the British government.

And then there's the multi service multi national training carried out within NATO, and no, not even Uncle Sam knows everything about modern warfare so the cross detachments carried out all over the world helps them too.

Both sides corrupt? Well one side is ruled by a despot who tolerates zero dissent in any way from anyone. Putin will literally send his goons all over the world to assassinate anyone who so much as thinks of opposing him. That includes journalists who write things he doesn't approve of. Ukraine is a sovereign nation, Putin longs for the bad old days of the SU and is aggrieved that it broke up in the first place. And if he was succesful in Ukraine, he'd feel the next move would be Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Slovakia etc...

Now I'm aware most Americans couldn't find those on a map if they were highlighted in bright orange but one place you will have heard of is Alaska. How do you know Putin doesn't feel pissed that long ago Alaska was sold to the US and wouldn't if emboldened by successes make moves on it? You don't.

I don't hate anyone, possibly not keen on most trumpers but that's not hate, more pity. I happen to like a lot of Americans and love one in particular. The fun and games I have with my friends who admit what I said in the quote is probably true for most! But it's yugly funny you assume shit!  ;D  ;D

Serious question?

Okay. I like Santa Cruz, I like Yosemite (One of the few places I've been to that deserves the adjective 'awesome'). I like and respect my friends who range in professions from a retired police chief, several very capable technicians, a Reiki practitioner, a photographer and a teacher. I love my wife Laura who is the reason I'm here. I have met many many people both personally and professionally and can count a handful of times when I made my excuses to no longer want to engage them.

I like the idea of turning right on a red light, I like the local airport restaurant. I like the fact we're within two hours drive of Lake Tahoe and Truckee. I like the winding road up north towards Mt Shaster and Susanville. I love Laura's cooking, she makes the best cheeseburgers and shortbread in the States. I like our house, I appreciate the double garage that is housing our nearly finished cedar strip canoe, all 17 foot of it. I like the hummingbirds and other birds that come to our garden.

I've only lived in CA. I visited GA 22 years ago, but can't remember much other than Madison city.

I suppose I've taken the local tourist line whereby retirees make whistlestop stops at London, Paris, Rome, Madrid and Amsterdam and say they've seen Europe.

Yes, lots of weirdos but I was asked what I liked, not what I don't like.

HAH! NATO is the US. The other nations are little more than ticks on a wild boar. We all know that Uncle Sam reserves the right to assassinate anyone, anywhere, anytime, for any reason and they don't give an imperial boohoo for anyone's so-called sovereignty. Speaking of journalists, Mr. Assange is not exactly on the White House Christmas list either. What have you got besides the usual playbook demonization, armchair psychoanalysis and that absurd resurrected domino theory?

QuoteUkraine is a sovereign nation.

A standard point of rhetoric we are always reminded of, as if it has some special significance, when the US has screwed with, interfered with and invaded countless sovereign nations over the decades.

Correction? Be specific.

I think most world leaders are propbably psychopaths who are sacrificing their own people to be wage slaves at the alter of globalism. Puty at least seems to be looking out for his people by not wanting them to join in this.

P.S. Are these the same Red Cross workers they had in Syria. If so I wouldn't believe a word of it. The same goes for the UN. 🖕

Uh-oh. Looks like one of Ivan's missiles crept across the border and blew up a Polish tractor killing two Poles.
