You just wait till Barbra Streisand, or some other faggy icon, turns her toes up. I will unmask all my batteries of venom in retaliation.

As long as it is not Bette Midler. You don't want to kill the lad, do you?

I don't know why I sat through it but I think because laziness, and early, but there was some segment months ago on NPR about why gays love Judy Garland. I forget the theory. But just amazed that NPR would have some 'serious' discussions on this most pressing subject; despite wars, viruses, inflation, illegals, lockdowns, and so on.

Quote from: SredniVashtar on September 22, 2022, 03:46:49 AMIt's a mockery. At least we can agree on something. I'm very picky about the standard of Dick I put in my mouth.

I'm not  :-\ I used to be able to get the Heinz right down the street and once in a blue moon would pick one up with some Bird's Custard Powder, usually when a new season of Downton Abbey came out.  It is bad, spotted dick should not be a sponge but an old-fashioned boiled suet pudding with the density of a cannonball, but it did have that fusty British taste.  Sort of hate-eating.  I feel the same way about Norwegian cod cakes, I never really liked them growing up but will pick them up once in a while to remind myself how awful they are.

Fucking Pogue.  Look at that trash salad on his skeevy chest.

I'd be surprised if they had any suet in them, they are more like treacle puddings with a few currants shoved in, that's about it. There's no reason they can't make them properly, because Fray Bentos steak and kidney puddings don't skimp on the suet, I think they just believe that everyone is so ignorant that they won't even question what they are being given. Anyway, you can't appreciate a proper suet pudding unless you are living here on one of those damp, cold miserable days and the only thing that can stop you from swilling down a litre or two of window cleaning fluid in sheer misery and desperation is a good old 'ribsticker', as my grandmother used to call them.

By the way, I am currently re-reading Martin Chuzzlewit. Boy, did Dickens nail you bastards to a 'T'. It was controversial at the time and he had to do some reverse-gearing afterwards, but his withering assessment has more than stood the test of time. I'll have to buy another copy because the one I have now is covered in my comments like 'too fucking right!', and 'tell it, big boy!'.

We have very similar weather here, famously.  I just don't think Heinz actually expects anyone to actually eat their spotted dicks, just keep them as objects of ridicule.  It pains me to see these humble comforts so denigrated!

People always forget about the great Inland Empire, the Palouse, etc and think Seattle/WestCoast is the 'weather,' and whole of Washington!  >:(

Some amazing places. And some 'interesting' people. And wide variety of mountains coming down to plains. Coulees. Hanging Valleys. Injun stuff. Scab lands. Rich, rolling plains.  Home of crazy flood that gained a geologist laughed at by colleagues final vindication.

Totally derailing thread. But 'that's the guy!' And once finally awarded and recognized he was too old to have 'anyone to gloat over' because his critics were dead. Spokane Historical Society actually has a good app, if you ever visit the Inland Empire and areas. Gives you updates, maps, uses GPS (if you have such tracking devices enabled) and gives you local stories and histories. Paladin_1991 might like also or anyone in the area. Some crazy stuff happened because railroad, timber, and mining town and then nearby ranching and farming. Much of the 'bad parts' were razed for the Expo '74 and has economics have changed.

One of the free local papers, not sure if still does, used to republished articles from the past. Crazy-ass stuff. Wildwest types of stories and sordid stories about the 'cribs' for cheap prostitution and various shootings, opium dens, frauds, and dramas. Police kicking ass and corruption. Much of that area was razed for the Expo. Even in modern times there are weirdness there. I  recall some politician got into a car accident off E. Sprague, at night, drunk, but wasn't seeking 'entertainment?' King of the Gypsy funeral (he made money from a lawsuit, in addition to the usual Gypsy crime rackets.) He "cursed" the city. Maybe true! Californians (not you, the true blue types) and Seattle etc moving there!

Yeah.  She was a laugh.  Back in the day there was some talk of her being a Weird Al wannabe with her accordian.

Maybe. But I wanna say there was another give-away paper that reprinted the old news? It could've been that one though. Though a give-away it does has some decent content, sometimes. I saw an in-depth article on types of salmon and trout once. In any event, it was awesome the old stories. Crazy stuff. People don't change but now we just got it instantly so everyone freaks out over something that happens thousands of miles away. But when area was timber, rail, Injuns, and mining the area was nuts!

There had to be a girl with hair and an accordion so that those of us with discriminating tastes would know what we are/were not fapping to.

I don't care which came first.
