Congratulations! Though in proper order it maybe should be reversed: medal, metal, and mettle. At least in order of importance. Maybe? Most, or at least many, who get high medals value things that happened before, others who died, and are almost embarrassed by them. But those not in the field love to award medals. And metal is needed for weapons but if one doesn't have the will and fortitude to wield them, the mettle, all will be lost anyway.

I cannot explain the tardiness in getting her to Edinburgh 30 minutes later than expected. Perhaps a few of the tarten dressed subjects threw themselves in front of the convoy as a mark of respect?
