Oof.  Among people paying attention, the stunning news is when it doesn't.

QuoteA man in his 20s sought care at an emergency department in Stanford, California, USA, on day 7 of an asynchronous, diffuse vesicular rash following travel to the United Kingdom. The first lesion appeared ≈14 days after he attended a large, crowded outdoor event at which he had close contact with others, including close dancing, for a few hours. He said that many attendees were in sleeveless tops and shorts. He wore pants and a short-sleeved top. He did not notice any skin lesions on anyone present, nor did he notice anyone who seemed sick. He shared an e-cigarette with a woman that he met while there. The event was not a rave and was not attended specifically or mostly by persons identifying as gay or bisexual. He attended other similar outdoor events over 4 days. He reported consuming alcohol but no other drug use at these events. He did not wear a mask at these events. He had contact with domestic dogs that he petted.

He took 2 flights to return to the United States; masks were worn on 1 flight. He identifies as bisexual but reported no recent sexual contacts during his travels or in the preceding 3 months. He reported no close indoor activities, although he traveled on crowded public trains. He reported no close contacts since his return. He lives with 1 roommate who did not manifest any symptoms. He had a history of syphilis treated 3 months earlier and was taking HIV preexposure prophylaxis. He denied preceding fevers, chills, headache, lymph node swelling, cough, fatigue, or anorectal pain.

Again. So many factors. And don't trust the Brits. And why the legalistic DOMESTIC and DOGS that he petted. That seems odd parsing. As with the "specifically attended or mostly." But public trains (and planes) and "attended outdoor events over four days." And with the recent British heatwave likely considering "close dancing" and "sleeveless tops and shorts" and "pants" (note: possible misunderstanding- or explanation- as that Brits say "pants" to mean what we call underwear or underpants.) I also don't know what kind of multi-day festival this guy attends that he doesn't see ANYONE who "seemed sick." (Again I note that in British English "sick" usually means perverted etc, "ill" would be used for people will an illness.)

The reference to mask use means they're worried about maybe breathing it in; notice they got the dog-petting in there, too.  The virus has escaped our b-holes into the wild at least a week ago, 14-day lag time means millions potentially infected right now, run in circles scream and shout!

The pants is a good point, he was clearly not a bellgabber.  I also don't like "short-sleeved top" because that sounds like a blouse.  I thought sick was vomiting, as in I'm gonna be sick.

It would depend on area, class, upbringing, etc. I suspect. I was told that being 'hot' was also a no-go, 'hot' like the German expression is meant in sexual way (or like bitches haha being 'in heat) so polite people say 'warm' for high temperature non-sexual or animal husbandry situations, (this now mixing and resulting in poxes!) Pissed. Random stuff. Even mad meaning crazy not angry. Etc. Most of this is easier understood if one read the classics. You know all about the sock deal and the weirdness of British. Strange people. QuoteInside America's monkeypox crisis — and the mistakes that made it worse

The nation's top health officials believed they had finally hit upon a solution to quell weeks of public criticism about the straggling government response to the monkeypox outbreak spreading across the country this summer.

They would stretch the nation's limited supply of the only FDA-approved vaccine for monkeypox by splitting doses to cover five times as many people — an admission, after repeated reassurances by top government officials, that the United States did not have enough shots for every at-risk American, after all.

But after Health and Human Services officials announced their proposal on Aug. 4, Paul Chaplin, chief executive of Bavarian Nordic, the vaccine's manufacturer, called a senior U.S. health official and accused the Biden administration of breaching its contracts with his company by planning to use the doses in an unapproved manner. Even worse, said two people with knowledge of the episode, Chaplin threatened to cancel all future vaccine orders from the United States, throwing into doubt the administration's entire monkeypox strategy.

"People are begging for monkeypox vaccines, and we've just pissed off the one manufacturer," said one official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment.

Also failure to use existing covid vaccine distribution scheme, had to set up whole new pipeline.  Administration was under no impression that it was a threat to the general population, it's a gay disease, they know the risks, probably deserve it those wretches, etc.  Same shit as always.

There are a lot of nice things here. But that is the 'trick.' Be not of this world. Or shadows on the wall. Or a dream with a dream.' Or whatever, this could be actually (even that term suspect) an accurate, or it is precise, term? One about reality and other confirms to previous measurement? Be nice to people. But always check your six and be ready. Always like epistemological thoughts, but, needs to have some common terms or method of an argument. But like 'kick a rock and see how that idealism works for you' as, supposedly said to Berkeley. Ha.

Before monkeypox outbreak, U.S. officials knew for years they didn't have enough of key shot

QuoteIn May of 2021, POLITICO reported that the Biden administration rerouted $2 billion from the SNS to help handle the surge of unaccompanied migrants at the border.

QuoteThe U.S. is setting aside an extra 50,000 doses of monkeypox vaccine for places with upcoming gay pride events, health officials said Thursday.

The number of doses sent to each will be based on factors like the size of the event, how many health workers will be available to give shots, and how many of the attendees are considered at highest risk for catching the virus.

"More shots in arms is how we get the outbreak under control," Bob Fenton, the White House monkeypox response coordinator, told reporters Thursday. He said the effort is an attempt to "meet people where they are."

Should have done that back in June you fuckface.

Quote"While we are offering the vaccine at these events to those at high risk, this is a two-dose vaccine series, and receiving the vaccine at the event will not provide protection at the event itself," said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The vaccine is routinely given after an exposure here, that's one of the qualifications.  So it must be doing something.  This lady is a disaster.

US sets aside 50,000 monkeypox vaccines for gay pride events

I heard on the morning radio show that Austin is having a "pride" event and many people coming into town for it. There was something also about bussing children to the various "pride" and tranny/cross-dresser events but it was mentioned if Middle School age or younger you had to get parental permission. There is still COVIDs and now the monkey-pox but the gay parade must go on!

City Council also voted them a new salary raise. Approximately a 40% raise which many callers were outraged about considering the property taxes, the former closing of small businesses (and lost of many,) and all the inflation. It was also reported that certain special 'out reach' office are -like the City offices themselves- only 'self audit' on how the money is spent.

Bussing in children, like from school?  That can't be right.  I don't like it when parents take kids to indoctrinate, even for tolerance or acceptance, but we give parents a lot of leeway how they want to raise their children in this country and if we are going to allow parents to teach their son that his first innocent teenaged crush on a football player means he's a monster destined for hell, the other way doesn't seem so bad.

It wasn't clear on the details. I think buses we be available after school time or this weekend since no school then. Likely it was a part of fixing congestion to the popular event. Not sure if buses could be used by non-parents or generally by population who want to attend another super-spreading event. I guess at this point nobody care of Covids or Poxes as HS football is about to begin, schools open, no many masks, and gay parades.

I was more upset about the salary increases and lack of audits for government programs and 'out reach' agencies. Buying hotels for homeless and voting new salaries increases for themselves but normal homeowners screwed over by zooming property taxes.

Oh ok so there is a bus for traffic mitigation and they will kick kids off unless they have parental permission.  That sounds a bit different when you put it that way.

We have the same homeless issues here, as you probably know.  Yeah it is pretty scammy.

Yeah, as I said I'm not sure what the bus deal would be. I would be against it but I guess if you use them for school and school sports you could use them for a gay parade. There should be a nominal fee though maybe to cover the high fuel costs and extra hours for the drivers? Or just say public buses free this weekend deal or something.

The thing is that we cause the problems and then need to raise taxes or pass yet another bond to solve the problems. Let's take out parking meters, let's put in traffic circles, hey let's take out a lane and make it for bikes, I got an idea why not turn a major street into a pedestrian only zone.... We need to solve this congestion problem. We need a new bond for lightrail and public transit (note almost 50% cost than bond passed due to 'inflation' and 'supplychain' issues and will also take more years due to 'environmental studies and cultural impact research' or some crap.) Let's allow public camping, public drinking, and provide toilets and showers. Gee now we got more homeless coming in so we better buy them hotels or apartments.

Haha people get tetchy when public anything is used for the gay, sounds like you been listening to that talk radio.  We had the same sort of thing when a museum offered a week of drag summer camp (for kids as young as 13! with parental permission of course), local talk radio went berserk until it was pointed out 90% of them are kids from the inner city or what passes for that here, weirdly popular.  George Floyd was honored during CHAZ/CHOP by a teenage drag show, I do not know what is up with that.

We have a new mayor who ran on rounding up homeless and got elected, people finally got fed up.  Now they are moving out of the city in semirural areas like the Green River, like the old Hoovervilles on the tide flats south of town but not romantic wood shanties, too much tarps and plastic and ripped tents and trash everywhere.

They think they can cover everybody who needs it with the broke-ass dollar store discount five shots for the price of one scam but if it doesn't work it's more soccer players dropping dead and oozy lesions for everyone.

QuoteAlready, some experts are mulling the nuclear option: ACAM2000, the smallpox shot that the government has been hoarding to counter a potential bioterrorism attack. Doses of the vaccine are available by the many millions, and thought to be both effective and durable. It's also, Edupuganti told me, "one of the vaccines with the highest amount of adverse reactions," occasionally triggering side effects as serious as heart inflammation. The shot contains a replicating virus, and shouldn't be taken by immunocompromised people, including many of those who are living with HIV. And just about everyone who gets the shot sprouts an oozy lesion at the injection site that can pass the vaccine virus to others.
