Yep. I found Dr. Paul back in the spring when he had no more than about 100 subscribers and he had some panic stricken Father on the horn with a young child in the ICU with the coof.  I think most would have sloughed the caller off with "You really need to consult with the Pediatrician's on site there" but he waded right on in and handled the crisis with complete confidence.

I am reminded of the Bukowski quote about the problem with things is that wise men are full of doubts but the idiots brim over with confidence

I'm still trying to figure out how he is attending medical school at Harvard when he lives in NYC. It's not like taking an online class down at the Community College. There are cadavers and such.

Shades of Feigl-Ding, Comrade Wang.

Don't feel so bad, I'm sure she's happy someone posted in her thread. I think I can help you with the whole fruitcake discussion problem. I too want to make one but they don't have all the ingredients at the local store so it's something I'll have to source over the internet and it's way too late to start making fruitcake in time for X-mas. I want to make the kind that you soak with bourbon once a week for a few months. It was an old-timey recipe that I found on the internet a few years ago. I can't find it at the moment but I'll keep looking.

Is it too late?  I know the traditional date for making Christmas puddings, the ancestors to fruitcake, is sometime in late November, called "Stir-Up Sunday" after the scripture reading for that day which begins with those words.  I won't be thinking about mine for another few weeks.  I got a whole set of graduated springform tube pans in anticipation this year, though, including one giant that should yield at least a 10-pounder.

Maybe it's not too late. The recipe did say the least amount of time is one week prior to serving but more time is better. I looked up "Stir-Up Sunday" which, is November 29th of this year and also the pretty passage that follows and belie some of the authors' practice of sacrificing babies into the foundation of their homes. Pro-life my ass, amirite? Anyway, I'm looking forward to reading about your fruitcake journey in your baking thread, or this one, haha. I can't do it this year, I'm hoping to have enough time to make a pie and some mini-cakes that have nothing to do with the holiday season except for being orange flavored and a simple holiday dinner.

What is up with these Chi-com tvs flooding the market and at ridiculous prices? And are they any good? The prices are like "might as well buy one, just for kicks." A long history of mergers, Chicom connections, relistings, acquisitions, and such- but quality? TCL? Or just way to get into more snooping and internet-of-things? New prices based on Biden supposedly winning? Or glut of tvs due to Corona-Chan shipping/shopping stoppages? Or just trying to take over market-share from other brands? What is the quality? 55" 4k for $149 here? Claiming paired with Netflix, Disney, and HBO (I assume one would need to subscribe separately though. But, then again, would help the ChiComs to pair with fellow-travelers....)

I would imagine that those prices are to get the last few hold outs (like me) to say "wow, that is a great price for a smart television. I should purchase one and pretend that I don't mind them monitoring everything that I watch, when I watch it, and what I look at."

They should just give you the fu##ing television so that they can learn everything about you and sell it to their "trusted partners." I hope that this one comes with a microphone to listen for commands and a camera to watch for "smart gestures". Hate to have somebody reach for the remote to turn up the volume when you could just make a gesture. And the only cost is a camera in your living room / bedroom and all of your privacy.

In short, you are the product.

We have similar train of thoughts. But they are so cheap.  ;) And without wifi, phone, cable, or other connected to any external lines I don't think they could spy on you. If I just hooked up to my antenna  or played dvds. Assuming the electricity line isn't being used as a communication vehicle also, I recall some years ago there was talk of BPL but worries over RF interference for radio and other transmissions.

I don't know why, but I imagine Lilith being like this ... pure class and grace lady.

I recall her hats in her gabbing youtube videos. I kind of wish she had left them up. There was even one featuring her daughter... Proof that she has (successfully?) shared this place with family and that it can be done.

...I am driving brig mad with rage and that she is is dancing about her apartment gnashing her teeth and tearing her hair in fury.  Eventually I plan to bring the discussion around to fruitcake and hopefully send her over the edge for good.

This has to be the only forum (and you the only poster) that I have seen plotting to plunge another person into permanent madness using only the discussion of fruitcake.

*Why do I feel as though I just stumbled into an episode of Monty Python? Shall I fetch the... comfy chair?
