Okay...I'll post just to keep that from happening.  ;)   I really wish somebody will explain to me the infatuation with that guy.

The allure of the F-* thread is quite simple, so simple that it is very easily overlooked:

Every man is a king so long as he has someone to look down on

-- Sinclair Lewis

F-* is a grotesquely overweight man.  This, in itself, is no big deal; Oliver Hardy also met that description, yet was wealthy, famous, and beloved all over the world (as well as a very snappy dresser).

But...when you also take into account F-'s repulsive, phlegmy voice, his complete absence of talent, his utter lack of wit, intellect, or insight, his obsession with the fame he seems to think is his by divine right despite the aforementioned deficiencies, his total lack of interest in anyone other than himself and his steadfast, almost angry refusal to clean up the filthy, disgusting hovel in which he exists ("lives" would be an overstatement), well, F-'s allure quickly starts to become apparent.

Long story short, you can be dirty, smelly, illiterate, a complete failure, a raging alcoholic, a wino, a whore, a corporate CEO who thinks nothing of cutting 10,000 jobs before enjoying a lunch consisting of a half-dozen homeless waifs, a serial killer, a livestock molester, a combination of all these things (or, indeed, all of them at once), and chances are still excellent that you could find some quality you possess that would recommend you over F-.

If it's any help, I, too, spent some time pondering the allure of the F- thread; I even ended up posting in it for a (brief) time in an attempt to better pick up the vibe and work out what all the fuss was about.  Fortunately, I reached an epiphany not long after when someone posted a screen cap from one of F-'s video rants that showed, very convincingly, that F- had somewhere in the order of 15 pounds of concentrated arse lodged under his filthy fingernails (about which, the less said the better).

It so happens that I had had an rather expensive lunch before seeing this (and what's more, an expensive lunch someone else had paid for) and, being caught unawares, came quite close to heaving it up.  However, at the exact moment my lunch threatened to pay a return visit, I had the epiphany I have attempted to describe above, and promptly left the F- thread, never to return.

Needless to say, I do not recommend imperiling an expensive lunch in an attempt to figure out why anyone would feel the need to have the F- thread occupy a large part of their waking hours; my (near) loss is your gain.

I hope that helps answer your question.

(Well, you did ask.)

*No, I am not going to mention F- by name because I consider doing so the Internet equivalent of relieving myself on the carpet.  And while I don't own the carpet around here, there are some things that the dictates of Good Taste simply do not allow me to do.

Noory appointed Hoagie as his "science advisor" very soon after he took over as main c2cam host after Art Bell retired around 2003.

Ah, I see.  Thank you for filling in that particular gap in my knowledge.

Strictly between ourselves, I scarcely would have credited Hoagland with the ability to hold down a (more or less) regular job for twelve years as he apparently did.  Which just goes to show you how wrong you can be about people (and also makes his long-time marked reluctance to show up for his own programme all the more baffling).

Of course, I also would scarcely have credited him with being stupid enough to, quite literally, talk his way out of what has to be one of the least demanding jobs ever had I not heard him argue with his boss on-air in what has to be one of the most spectacular displays of mental illness ever broadcast (apart from Hoagland's current spectacular displays, of course).

I'm with you, Shay.  I've never understood the fascination with the schlub.  It's not as if he's a moron with a major night time show.

The show is on.  I tuned in because I suck at life.  Join me.

Good quote.  Good example.  ;)

If it's any help, I, too, spent some time pondering the allure of the F- thread...

I did as well a few years ago.  Flamed him.  Insulted him.  Then I had the realization that I'm wasting my time and something else is going on.  Being a fellow Pittsburgh guy (more than Falkie I might add)  I Pm'd him and we had a few convo's via PM.  I actually apologized for the vulgar things I called him.  Damn my ethics!  Our communications were enjoyable.  I then left him alone.   My hunch is he is smarter than most of the people following him and his "life."

He is a grifter and a sponging piece of crap, but he has a plan.  Hey...people embrace that type of drivel on the inter webs.

=Schlyder=

LOL it's hilarious listening to the hysterical speculations.

LOL!  Sad truth is, if Hoagie was committed, he would be vastly better than Noory.

Is the show any good, Shay?

I really can't say.  I'm just numb to it and somewhat distracted.  Seems to be typical Farrell BS.  Although I do like him at times... :-\

ShayP

Dr. MD MD...

I would be remiss if I didn't ask or wish you well.

That being said...Hope all is well.  cheers! :D

You too, buddy! I keep wanting to turn on Hoagie's show but I can't stop listening to Alex Jones' last episode. He's on fire! Doing impressions and funny voices and ranting, of course. Sometimes I think maybe he really is Bill Hicks.  ;)

If Hoagie was committed, would he be allowed to have visitors?

Turned that shit off fast. Two old men enabling each other's crackpot fantasies about some NWO - tho I always find Hoagland entertaining because of his childlike glee when he seizes on something his weirdo guests say 'of course! the torsion field, anti-gravity!'. Nothing is too batshit crazy or totally unrelated to anything that his mind can't connect it to his ever expanding Theory of Everything Not A Single Sane Person on Earth Believes.

"Astronomers have long desired to predict the final "ending of a star."
"Now, Dr. Larry Molnar -- director of the Calvin College Observatory -- seems to have succeeded; Molnar has scientifically calculated that two, relatively near-by suns -- in the northern constellation of Cygnus -- currently, whirling around each other so close, that they are literally touching (!) -- will, after millions of years, finally merge ... resulting in a fiery "Red Nova" explosion visible to all the world ... in 2022 AD.
This Saturday night, on "The Other Side of Midnight," Dr. Molnar will describe exactly how he's pulled off "the impossible" -- and how all humanity now knows exactly where to look ... BEFORE it happen--
For the celestial fireworks to come."

Is this a live show, Audie Murphy?

No, he started things off by mentioning the "upcoming" debate between Trump and Hillary.  ::)

This is the second weekend in a row he's managed to show up only half the time for a programme that broadcasts live two days a week.  This after he had the effrontery to double the price of listening to the archives of his old episodes, which have already been repeated three times over.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear reports of an angry lynch mob forming in Placitas, New Mexico.
