I found this on a thread below, it is a comment from a radio guy working for a big AM station, I am not sure where:
As far as Art Bell, his words: "He's alienated his audience. If he podcasts, it will be mildly successful". His core audience is the age that may not want to deal with podcasts. The subject matter is so overcooked that there is nothing left to eat. And he's proven to be an unreliable media personality. Plus he's no a young man playing in a young man's world. He will get a bump out of the gate on popularity and then it will slide south as the newness wears off. Once it becomes evident that he doesn't get even 5000 subscribers, he will shut it down. If Art was serious about making a go of it, he would do terrestrial radio + podcast it like his main competition. Otherwise it's a hobby.
He makes some pretty good points, some not so good, my core audiance is really 8-80 Years old, so about that he is wrong. The subject matter is over cooked but the product has been slaughtered by most Chefs. He has a bias for commercial radio because that's who signs his paycheck but I have a flash for him AM radio is dying, the shares are now tiny and shrinking fast and I am sorry for that because I love Radio but the writing is on the wall. As far as how my listeners feel about me, well I've pissed off lots of people in my time, if you live long enough, so will you.
I am not a young man anymore, 70 in June but many of the best Paranormal Broadcasters in the World have been older. Lastly, if it becomes a Hobby then it will be a very good

Thanks man.
For true fans of the show like you, I've decided to leave the mic potted up permanently from my bedroom, feeding onto the live stream 24/7. Not quite the same chemistry I had with Curtis, but occasional 2 minute bursts of chemistry will still be heard for those who stay tuned in.
Quote from: MV on September 17, 2014, 11:51:24 AMI'm a loyal lurker, and a bass player. I really like like his sound and style. I just finished imitating me some Styx and what little Kansas I can manage.
Check out my friend Ryan's YouTube channel where he covers his favorite bass tracks. More videos to come.

Actor from Soap Operas, plays badass bassline and sings great harmony.
Quote from: yumyumtree on December 04, 2013, 12:36:12 AMThe coast of Montana? Man! I'm all confused
I remember those "cold snaps". The inside of your nose freezes and clothes freeze before you finish pinning them on the line. And those wind chills are awful. I think the worst one recorded was -70 F. The coldest actual temperature was -44F in Lincoln but I don't know when. The coldest place I lived was Bozeman MT, also the highest altitude place I lived. Now I live on the coast, where we don't get those kind of cold snaps.

I once worked at a call center and I was the only guy in my row, surrounded on all sides by cat ladies or women on the way to becoming cat ladies.
During a lull in the usual banter, on a slow day, I wondered outloud if cats were cannibals because both cats and mice were rodents.
"Cats aren't rodents!" They all replied in unison. "Sure they're rodents," I said, "They're fuzzy. They stink. They climb into the cupboard and leave little shit-missiles everywhere. If they're not rodents, what are they?"
None of them knew what they were, but they knew they weren't rodents.
The same thing happens here, sometimes --- and everywhere. You can literally say the stupidest shit which you'd think anyone would realize was a joke, but if you say it without adding a j/k or "NOT!", they'll take your insincere, irreverent post and reply to it with sincerity and earnestness.
That's part of the magic, though.

Thanks pepsiguy.
I hope you were here for that battle between me, Falkie and littlechris on the topic of Noory. It got pretty viscous.

It is in the Illumanati's interest to feminize men and hold up the ideals of feminine men (femimen) as being the archetype of attraction. Why this is the case I have no fucking idea, but it is incredibly obvious that this is so. It began with the hippie movement of men having long, girly hair and wearing colorful clothes. Then we had John Travolta in the 1970s. Then in the 80s we had "hair metal", where thousands of heterosexual young men would cram into sweaty arenas to watch other heterosexual young men dress up like girls and play shitty, Western-bloc Capitalist anthems of depravity.
The grunge period was a brief and well-needed reassertion of masculinity. God damn I miss it. Rather than these femimen like Justin Timberlake and Kanye West you had real singers whose balls had dropped, who knew how to kill a deer with a crossbow and who could grow a full beard in less than 4 days --- guys like Chris Fuckin Cornell, Eddie Kick-Your-Ass Vedder and Dishwalla. Then we had Nu-Metal, techno and all that other bullshit which re-introduced fingernail painting, eye-liner wearing and chapstick bespeckling.
I quit paying attention after that, but judging from what passes for modern music these days, I sincerely hope China and Russian fucking eat, eat, eat the West. At least they still have good music there.
Like Sergei Lazarev - un fuckin credible:

I just spilled some hot minestrone soup on my leg.
Lots of screaming and it hurt like hell. Hopefully it won't blister.

I was wondering the same thing. Surely you guys aren't saying Art wants out of radio? Hey, I'm brand new here, so I'm aware my opinion has about as much weight as Don Knotts in lunar gravity, but I think you guys are being way too cynical. I've got a good bullshit detector, and I don't think Art is giving us anything other than the upfront straight lowdown on all this. I don't think he's been deceptive in the least. Anyway, you can laugh at my naivety if this thing goes south next week and Art shocks us all by decamping back to the Philippines. Until then...

hello all if in 3 days there are no replays of darkmatter available on sxm. then there is no, none compete and art is free to do as he pleases .
Quote from: georgesucks on November 07, 2013, 08:55:43 PMIt's just a show for heavens sake
Art if you do come back on the air, why should we listen to you? You do have a history of "retiring" a lot.
Quote from: jazmunda on November 07, 2013, 06:38:33 PMRoadkill?
Thanks for the update Producer-Paul. It's is much appreciated by the informationally challenged here.
Is no news good news? Perhaps. If it was an outright no you'd think they would have come out and said that right off the bat.
If they are taking their time and crunching the numbers then that could be a good thing.
And while we all are waiting this is what I will be having for lunch today:
Marinated chicken breast on a bed of quinoa, spinach, cherry tomatoes and onion topped with grilled lemon!
Not the manliest of meals but this is what you gotta eat when you're on a diet.

He's on the phone with Jimmy Hoffa dude! The perfect chess move re-grand opening sequence chess move FU George radio interview of all time in which JH reveals the awful truth about GN and his masterminding of the massive JFK coverup. Boom!
(Dear George's niece, don't read this. You're too young too know the unbeleefable truth!)
Quote from: DanTSX on November 07, 2013, 04:29:48 PMBuyout should be part of the contract. Hopefully his lawyers would see to that
You have no idea how much that could be.
Art is loaded, but he is not buying out a contract that is probably fully expressed revenue for the 3 years.
Basically, SXM would price the buy out at the maximum revenue that they could rationally have projected for Art's show for those 3 years. That could be A LOT of $$$.
