Well, the answer is yes and no. Yes, a lot of what is brought to the food distribution warehouses is brought by the big over the road companies. But not all. There is still a fair amount transported by independents. From the distribution warehouses, it is all in-house. Which may or may not involve another contract carrier.

In Seattle and Tacoma you always have strikes like that. You get these guys who buy cheap used trucks and transfer containers from the ports to rail yards and such and when it's all said and done they netted $5.00 an hour. Usually those guys have bad driving records and couldn't get on with a good company.

Okay, I read that article, those are owner operators. I am a fleet driver. I don't have to worry about the price of fuel or repairs and stuff like that.

Nope. Are you talking about Teamsters or just a general strike? Even if it was Teamsters, I am in the western conference and what goes on in the east doesn't effect me. Speaking of which, moonpie was making ignorant statements about "suckers" who rely on receiving their pensions. I get a financial statement every year from the teamsters which reports the health of the pension fund. The western conference is something like 96% funded. I've heard bad things about the eastern and midwest conferences, but that is not my problem.

Hehehe, if a business offers a rewards program I always sign up for it. Like Love's truck stops gives you two cents for every gallon you pump. When I go to Arizona I typically put in 170 gallons. Plus you get a free cup of coffee.

Last year there were a couple guys at the post office who made hundreds of tamales for Christmas and sold them to the other employees. They were way better than the typical restaurant tamales.
