if I were the web developer design on his site I would add a custom cursor icon: a Pizza Punch bottle that would tip up as if being poured anytime someone clicked on anything

i was afraid the arab spring was going to be an 'out of the frying pan into the fire' situation.  i hate to say i was (probably) right.  and it seems to be spreading

If Knapp ever makes a jump and leaves Coast to Coast AM I think most of the true Art Bell fans will go with him.. and the dumbed down masses can have Noory's nonsense questions and musical specials on holidays.
Sad.
not the dumbed down masses. the mentally ill. who typically suffer from insomnia. This is what pisses me off most about Coast. they're making the situation worse for these people

Jeez, I saw that. 19 smokejumpers. That has to be the greatest number ever killed in the same event. It sounds to me they were a single crew in the same area, I guess in the same relatively small area. Horrific. I can't imagine the terror they felt - nowhere to run, you can't breathe...and you don't have a way to kill yourself. I'm being serious. That would just terrify me. Some brave, brave people.
not since 9/11 has there been such a loss of firefighters. tragic

my position on immigration is changing.  having seen up close what a tax some immigrants can be in that they don't teach their kids basic language and math skills and instead leave that to teachers and volunteers to address (if at all).  and that some latins don't seem to have a word for "safety" in their native tongue - drunk driving and dangerous workplace attitudes.  a cavalier attitude about death and babies spilling out from their wives' uterus.  there seems to be an almost 1 to 1 ratio of "good apples" to "bad apples".

A great example might be RCH when he was going on about the John Carter movie and how it was all real and the movie got torpedoed because they didn't want the people to know that Mars is livable or some shit like that...

RCH is completely off his rocker for saying this.  they should have interrupted the show, called the police and ambulance in RCH's hometown, and had his ass hauled off for psychiatric review.  just to get a sense for whether he was dangerous to himself or others

I also thought Sahara was a fun movie.

And I think Willis has a broad range. But his audience doesn't.  Death becomes her wasn't real funny to the average movie goer but Willis hit the notes perfectly.

I thought he did a great job as a tired-of-it-all type guy in Looper. And his line in Sin City: "An old man dies so a young girl lives" will stick with me for a long time.

Not crazy over his politics but he's a lot more actor than many others.

i liked Willis in "Breakfast of Champions"

"Playing God"

Duchovny's character : "Are you going to kill me?"

Mob guy : "No.  Why?"

Duchovny's character : "I'm just trying to plan my day"

That's what I've heard.  Fast moving CGI zombies just don't cut it with me.  Glad to hear at least the popcorn was good.  ;D

I've just about given up on Hollywood.  A dearth of decent actors, plots, scripts, etc. and a surplus of slam-bam CGI effects.    Anybody have any suggestions for a decently acted movie I may not have seen?  Say anywhere from the '40s through the '80s.  Something with a good plot and decent acting, maybe film noir'ish.  I know I'm asking for a lot.  ;)
any time anyone asks for a really good movie recommendation i think of a British movie called "Fishtank".  Michael Fassbender plays a minor character.  i can't think of any of the other actors' names. unbelievably good movie.  no special effects, no car chases.  just compelling story and excellent acting.

I've seen the Patterson film debunked in a Discovery Channel documentary.  an actor was able to reproduce the walk exactly or near exactly. What they need to focus on next is the costume. How did Patterson and Gimlin create such a convincing costume?  Did they skin a bunch of goats and stitch the hides together?

I will just never get this tattoo fad.  Athletes who look like a wall of graffiti and women who look they've had one too many shore leave benders.  Do what you want but remember the rest of us may have look at you.  And no, it doesn't make you "different," it just makes you look stupid.
since the economy in Dayton, OH has basically cratered and the city is in such a piss poor state that they've begun knocking down buildings i'm always surprised to see an old building that's been renovated to any extent.  it seems the business that's funding this renovation is either a restaurant or a tattoo parlor.  mostly tattoo parlors.  how the fuck can poverty stricken working poor pay for a ridiculous tattoo?  it suggests that there income is generated doing something that probably isn't helping the city recover.  or maybe it is.  but i hate tattoos too.  in the end it's just another uniform.  a stupid uniform you can't wash off.  and don't get me started on piercings.

friends ... we live in an age of unintentional self parody

I think Art could get his HTML in an afternoon. He might have so much luck with design. The server / client side scripting is more of a challenge. But there it would just be a question of how much time he wanted to spend on it. I'm guessing he's maximizing time with the wife and daughter

Politics / Re: Edward Snowden..saint or sinner?

What I find comical about the ruckus that's stirred up around this story is that in 2009 PBS Nova did a show called Spy Factory which detailed 9/11 and the security apparatus that sprang up afterwards. They described a program run by the NSA that listened in on all electronic communications. This story is only news for people who haven't been paying attention. I think Snowden is a political patsy and that his story serves a political power agenda though I'm not entirely sure who will benefit. If anyone

A piece of me has always thought that Ramona's asthma was chronically severe and maybe she was just tired of going on. I see a lot of that.
she had severe asthma AND she was a smoker. that's just crazy. as someone with asthma how do you  even become a smoker?! it boggles the mind

Re: arguments against intelligent design ... I like the bunny confound. Rabbits have to eat their poop to live because of how their digestive system is laid out. Why would a God design an animal like that? Also ... humans are really amazing, cerebral beings and opposable thumbs and all that. But a tiny morsel of food in the windpipe and lights out. I call that a major design flaw.
