Some /many of you/ are laughing at George, but, like him or not, he is making $500.000 /year
and signals are coming that Premiere is making a very tempting $$$  offer  to buy DMDN
so they can own and cancel MITD.

George is a smart cat !!
I never disliked G. Noory. I am glad he is on the air as an option for me to listen to at night.
I'm sick of political rants of either side of the aisle that are all too abundant on Radio.
Myself, I'd rather have Art on than George but we can't seem to make him stick.
We always resent the guy/girl that took a special persons place regardless of their character or talent.
A pleasant fallout from the Art Bell return/fade away for me has been this forum. :)
I plan to stick around here no matter what the future outcome of MITD.
Praise MV :D

Tomorrow's Gabcast and Art's comments will probably determine my TT subscription status.
I've given MITD a chance without Art Bell. That isn't what I signed up for.
Not going to make any disparaging remarks regarding Ms Wade's performance, I sure she is doing her best, but I am paying for Art Bell/MITD.
This is not meant as some ultimatum. Just a customer purchasing a product and what I expect from it.
Surely Art, Keith and the people responsible for the network can understand this.

If there are enough people happy with MITD as it is, without Art Bell on air, then they don't have to worry about people like me.
Hope it works out for ALL of us including Art, Heather, Bellgab and Art Bell fans everywhere.

"Rods" are just time-lapsed images of bugs (or even birds in some cases).  When the shutter speed is fast enough you can see them clearly:

"Orbs" are just small particles/objects/bugs in the air that are out of focus, and usually brightly illuminated by a camera flash:

My avatar is an animation based on 12 Monkeys - one of my all-time favorite time travel movies.
Okay. Thanks for the links and explanation.
I loved 12 Monkeys also.

This is what I detest about so many people in the "paranormal" community.  When faced with incontrovertible proof that he was wrong about the whole "rod" thing, he could've just admitted that he was wrong, and moved on, and although slightly tarnished by the whole affair he would've earned a measure of respect for having the cojones to admit an honest mistake.

Instead, he doubles down on the dipshit factor, and we still have to hear about "rods" and "orbs" decades after they've been debunked.  It's bullshit like this that saps any measure of credibility from the entire field of paranormal inquiry.
Been out of touch with the paranormal genre for awhile but I remember the "rods, orbs" thing.
It's been debunked?
Good as it was a bit disconcerting.
By the way Chronaut, your Avatar is inducing Rorscharch [sp?] patterns to my less than optimal eyes.
What is it? Make it stop. :P

I'm not sure Gabcast would be the platform from which Art announces his comeback since very few would hear it.
I look forward to the GabCast Thursday.
Art should bring his mouse.
Maybe he'll announce a restructuring of MITD.
Perhaps now that Heather has some experience, she and him as co-hosts?

My only other GabCast exposure was the Heather/Bateman verbal throw down.
This should be at least as good.

Are you Samoan, or are you able to pass as Samoan in dim lighting?

MV has prerequisites. There are other ways to obtain Turbo mode, but this is by far the easiest. So let's start there.

I found this 'how to' video online as to the best way of obtaining turbo mode status. This was back in the days when Gravity really did Suck.

Maybe a teenie bit of Samoan and I do know how to whistle so, MV, please accept my request for Turbo classification and all the perks that go with it.

There will always be a need for the Art Bell thread. Future generations will come here and study what many anthropologists eventually classify as the event horizon of singularity. Turing tests will be won and lost here. Jazmunda's last gasps of fandom will be heard as the mutant platypuses transcend sentience and eradicate the Cockney accent and Aussie rules football from Oz. Political opponents of MV will use the information on this site to try and discredit his campaign, but the Random Fat Dude party ends up dominating world affairs. eCig manufacturing becomes a cottage industry for those wise enough to obtain Turbo mode. Manufacturing of Government issued Fidgets end up depleting the iron in the earth's core, collapsing the magnetic field. This allows sufficient sunlight (primarily UVA) to reach the earths surface to finally allow Freyja to get a tan. DarkPenguin has an ephinany, and dedicates his life to correcting all the spelling errors in the thread, but is never able to fully decipher all of Sredni's posts, so reckuF. BellBoy will carry all of your emotional baggage right up until the penultimate post. So if anyone is ever the last person to read this thread, please turn out the light and close the blast door.
Of what is this  "Turbo Mode"  you speak?
How does one obtain it?
Thanks

8pm eastern and it will be simulcast on the DeepTalk network. UFOShip will not handle the demand. DeepTalk can be listened to using TuneIn.

I hope MV doesn't oversleep. Someone from one of Art's Facebook groups got wind of it and it was announced on MITD last night.
Thanks Gravity. This could be epic.

He said in his thread http://bellgab.com/index.php/topic,1643.0.html ages ago he doesn't want to make anymore fidgets. From what I can gather, 20 years ago after taking peoples money (I think it was 25k at $5 a pop) and not sending them what they ordered (fidgets) Art refused to talk to him. In doing this Mr. Fidget believes Art sent out a curse over the airwaves everywhere resulting in everything bad that has ever happened to him. He wants Art to lift the curse so that good things will start happening to him again.

I think that is it in a nutshell.
O.K.
Thanks for the info.
I do remember vaguely Mr. Fidget from way back when but was unaware of all this^^^^^.
Yikes!
By the way, when is the Podcast with Art scheduled for?
Have to admit I'm hooked on the madness here.

Hi everybody, first the fact that I am now here does not represent a lie since when I last left I simply said I was leaving, not quitting Bell Gab but I am sure it will be said anyway.

Second, I fully understand I reacted far to quickly at a moment I had not slept and was under a lot of stress with what was going on and yes because my Wife had enough and told me it had to stop because it was having a very negative effect on Asia. So I said something I could not take back and that is on me.

Next I want to say sorry to the people on this Forum who supported me in the run up to this show with so much, I understand your hearts were broken but I also want to say that mine was as well because I have been a member here for Years and reading many of the things said here hurt me more then you can know. I will sure cop to making a very bad decision at that time but this felt like home to me. Bad decision yes but lie, never. I never lied to you on air or off, never.

I would be glad to answer any reasonable questions but if people just want to trash me and my Family I will not respond to that sort of thing. Perhaps you do not believe this place was that important to me but you would be wrong, I am not sure it is the same place I remember but my memories of it the way it was are warm.

Art
Hi Art.
Thanks for posting here.
I'm relatively new here but I can tell there are a lot of people here that love you and want you back on air.
Myself included.
I'm still a Time Traveler, and while I enjoy the show, I would welcome your return in any format.
I have many questions but they would all disappear if you return to the mic.
Thanks for your past shows and hope there will be more.

Sorry to break up the discussion but I didn't want to start a new thread... I'm VERY new to shortwave radio (just bought CC Skywave) and I've never been able to pick up MITD on that Tennessee station (5,085 khz). Anyone else have any luck listening to MITD on SW, or have any tips on how I can get a better signal or whatever?
I'll try that frequency later and let you know.
Try attaching a long , 6-25 foot or more piece of wire to antennae via alligator clip then other end near window if you haven't already done so.
Extended wires help for reception on all of my sw ,mw, lw and fm radios.

Good post. That's about how I feel. I was disappointed. There was a period of about two or three days when I was bummed that I wasn't gonna be hearing Art for a while. But I've got friends to see, shows to promote, paintings to finish. Life isn't all that bad. The thing I listen to while I'm doing stuff at night changed into something a bit different. That's not a huge deal to me. I still like it.

As for investing time, energy, and money into promoting the show...

Well, I've been promoting punk shows for half my life. DIY or die. It's everything to me. When the band comes to town, what's mine is theirs. If they need a place to stay, We've got one for 'em. If their gear's been lost or stolen, they can use whatever I've got, if I've got it. If the show doesn't make money (and it usually doesn't), I don't care. It's a blast.

Jumping in and promoting MiTD was something I was thrilled to do. It came as second nature. I do it anyway, all the time, every day. Why not do it for Art? So I did. Nothing about that sucked, for even a second. I don't want my time, money or energy back. I had a blast.

I know most of the world doesn't work this way, and I don't fault them for it, but when my friends and I support an artist, we pitch in and help out any way we can. If a band needs a poster, I'll draw it up. If they need it spread around town, I do a thirty-mile loop on my bike around the city every night, pinning posters to telephone poles. Putting one more up is not gonna put a dent in my plans.

Art's one of my heroes, and Heather's cool. I support the show. So I'm doing it again. I've got a whole new batch of MiTD posters, stickers and buttons coming. I'll be at the world's largest UFO convention in a few weeks handing 'em out and hiding paintings. If you're gonna be there, you should come say hi to me. We should be friends. If you're not gonna be there but would like a sticker and/or copy of the new poster, gimme your address and I'll send you a couple.

If you think I'm lame or an idiot for getting my hands dirty again, that's cool. I want you to have an awesome life anyway. I hope we can be friends some day.
You have a very positive attitude regarding MITD and probably everything in your life and would seem to be an asset to those you"re involved with.
Not lame nor idiotic but commendable.

I drove a bobsled for 5 years.  In 1980, they completely changed the geometry of the run by installing refrigeration.  For two weeks, no one could get through Curve #2 without skidding sideways and losing a lot of sped.  I solved that one in a lucid dream.  I walked up and down the run looking at the curve, floated up above it, laid down in the run, watched other sleds skidding through it. When I woke up I knew how how to get through without skidding.  It was totally unorthodox, and something no one would have ever thought of. I told my brakeman to hold on in turn 2, that we were either going to get through it without skidding or we were going to tip over.  We got through it without skidding and I broke the track record.  It took about 7-8 days before people figured out what I was doing, so for at least 1 full race I had quite the advantage.

True story - 1979/1980 Lake Placid

Very cool Gravity!
Well done. Gravity does indeed suck.

I was a Moto-Cross/Enduro racer in the 70's and early 80's and love the Bobsleds and thrill of speed that comes with these activities.
These days my two wheeled thrills come from a Moped that I commute to work with.  ::)

OK, first of all, you always come across as a good guy, and I am sure you're sincere in what you have written, but you are all over the road here. It's just a prejudice of mine, admittedly, but I tend not to totally trust the judgement of someone who appears to spend a good part of his time shitfaced on mind-altering substances.

Yes, damn those anonymous poop-flinging cowards. They are almost as bad as anonymous radio hosts who get people fired from their jobs. Be careful when you start denouncing faceless online people, because you stray into hypocrisy.

How can the sack be empty if it contains a witless humanoid? It's stuff like this that makes me avoid the peyote breakfast burrito in the mornings.

Charles Manson could boast a similar resume. I have never met anyone who hasn't claimed to be a great judge of character, just like nobody thinks they are a shitty driver. Everyone who says they are a fine judge of character is always wrong. Except for me!

It's early here, but I feel I need a drink after reading this bit. OK, you hung out with some stinky hippies who shake it all over the place, and some frigid types who like to dress up their sexual hangups as some kind of spiritual calling. Which proves what, other than to boast what a seasoned badass you are?

Hang on! Just a minute ago you told us that you had shared spit with some of the worst types of gunge imaginable, the next you are telling us that you are some kind of moral boy scout, who wouldn't be seen dead talking to a person unless they were formally introduced and thoroughly vetted first.

I lasted one day in the Scouts before they threw me out, bad boy! Or I didn't like it and went sobbing to my parents, take your pick. Nobody says 'couth' either. That's like saying you are 'gruntled'. It's either 'disgruntled' or 'uncouth'. If Heather is all you claim her to be then she sounds a crashing bore. I've met Sunday School teachers with more moxie.

That sounds straight out of the plot synopsis for 'When Aldous Met Heather'. I expect it will have the same ending as the other version. OK, she's a seraph, we get it, just ask Bateman. At least you are approaching this in a spirit of total impartiality.

The things we say when fucked up out of our gourd, huh?

I'm glad I didn't write this.

OK, so you're a kind of ethical Jedi who can sniff out impropriety from thousands of miles away. You can tell that no funny business goes on because you are attached like a limpet to her day and night. And nobody ever tells lies where men and women are concerned. Check. I was going to say that you even accompany her to the bathroom, but she's so angelic she probably doesn't need to bother.
Here's a Scrabble question. You have the letters P A H R U M P on your rack, and you try to think of a four letter word that describes a man who effects a similar kind of 'introduction'. Clue: you'll need to find an 'I' somewhere first.

Rubbish. You take on a apprenticeship so that you can learn and get a decent job from the knowledge you learned. There is nothing 'banal' or unpleasantly ambitious about that, just smart. Otherwise what's the bloody point? The trouble is, this 'apprenticeship' wasn't done in a very clever way. Instead of finding her a place to acquire skills and learn from her mistakes, he dumps her straight into a job that she is unqualified for and, frankly, not very good at. Are you going to hire an electrician to do a job who never learned in a proper, structured way, but expects to learn as he goes? 'Oh yes, this guy is getting better by the day, he only burned down three houses last week, so just give him a chance!' Bollocks.

I'm not Force-sensitive like you, so I can't tell much about someone by rubbing palms together. I guess you're right. They used to say the same shit about Jimmy Saville, and what did those idiots know?

Let's not forget that this 'hurtful cyber slander' is being directed at a ghost. We know nothing about her, other than that she's not awfully good on the air. It's on the same level as accusing me of molesting guinea pigs: it may be true (they are such sluts sometimes), but my RL reputation will not be affected, and neither will Heather's. It's interesting that most of Heather's support comes from men; women have another view, and your rather dewy-eyed advocacy doesn't really add much here, because you all come across as too besotted to have a valid opinion. Why don't you compare notes with Bateman to see if you still have this unspotted opinion of her?

Nobody can say what's going on, I imagine, and it's hardly likely to be something that one would boast about to someone anyway, would it? But, most people who weren't born yesterday tend to look at situations like this and draw conclusions. It may be horrendously unjust, but a lot of the blame rests on them for handling the situation so badly.
See here, Sir!

Dear Ms Star, I much admire your willingness to co host the GabCast

Good for Heather and Bateman to call in.

The hosts all did fine, Mud, Gravity, StarMtn. and ShowroomDummy. Sorry if I left anybody out. No intent meant.
ShowroomD, you do have a great voice for radio, clearly stood out as such.
Just about the LAST THING I would have thought I'd be doing when subscribing to MITD and here last July or whatever, was that I would be seriously considering calling into a live internet show called GabCast to participate in an on air fracus.
