95 Yr-Old WWII vet calling in to Knapp ? That kicks ass.
I was thinking the same thing!

Hey Neb! I'm sure you will when the spirit moves you. I watched Manhattan Melodrama this evening. Somehow had never seen it. And DVRd Love, the silent Anna Karenina with Garbo and Gilbert this evening too

Whew! Just made it. Good Evening Knappstars. I'm so ready for UFOs, and Beatles and Knapp. Good George. Despite the cats' opinions, you have my permission to color outside the lines. Occasionally it's a miss but more often hits

Finally, a host to listen to.

I'm going to see if I can at least do Knapp for the first half.

So out of curiosity and because an interesting tale, if all true, I read "The Stranger in the Woods." About the Hermit that was in some papers and a Knapp guest wrote a book on him and was able to interview him. Fairly interesting, I chuckled a these lines:
page 103: "He listened to a lot of Rush Limbaugh. "I didn't say I liked him. I said I listened to him." Knight's own politics were "conservative but not Republican." He added, perhaps unnecessarily, "I'm kind of an isolationist.""
page 111: "Sometimes I'd stay up late, he said, "and listen to some crazy AM talk-radio show, and hike to a high clearing before dawn and watch the ground fog collect in the valley." [emphasis mine]
page 166: "And what about a text message? Isn't that just using a telephone as a telegraph? We're going backwards." When he hears how songs are now shared and downloaded, Knight is equally unimpressed. "You're using your computers, your thousand dollar machines, to listen to the radio? Society is taking a rather strange turn." He says he'll stick with vinyl records.

I hate to barge in on the usual "I love Trump" banter but here's what's upcoming for Good George. Finally, some UFO talk for the first part and stuff for Beatles lovers in the second.
UFO Manipulation/ Sgt. Pepper's Influence
Sunday - May 21, 2017
Hosted by George Knapp
Guest(s): Jeremy Corbell, Bruce Spizer
First Half: Joining George Knapp, UFO researcher Jermey Corbell will discuss his speech at the Contact in the Desert UFO expo:"UFOs: A Clockwork Orange" - suggesting that the UFO phenomenon itself seems to be a display - controlled by a mechanical and artificial intelligence.
Second Half: "Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band" is the most famous album by the most famous band in the history of rock ’n’ roll. It became the soundtrack for the Summer of Love. Beatles expert Bruce Spizer talks about how the album reshaped the history of popular music with progressive sounds and a mind-blowing experience shared by millions.

I'm with you on this one WOTR. I'm willing to listen to almost any type of b.s. except such casual claims of miracle healings - be it through some magical supplement or some kind of mysterious supernatural therapy. If I had such powers I'd spend every waking moment relieving the poor souls with chronic illnesses of their miseries, rather than babbling like some jackass on talk radio.

Hope Neb is enjoying the show, with a nice Irish whiskey nearby.

Glad I tuned in tonite, especially for the second half. Well done as usual, Mr. Knapp. Interesting story that raises some thought-provoking, if morally ambiguous questions.
Personally I'd have given up after two days without a nice hot cappuccino with proper foam and cinnamon sprinkles. Nite all.

Sorry, Neb. I was of the same opinion as our favorite squirrel and conked-out early. I'm pretty much an Area 51, aliens, and UFO Knapper of the non-Blink 182 variety.

Thanks Neb ... enjoy the show.

I hate to agree, but i do. This'll be the second Knapp show in a row I've skipped.
Given the paucity of good shows out there though, I feel maybe I'm being too picky - like I just crossed a desert but refused a drink of water for having no ice cubes.

Gracious Good Evening, Knappstars. I plan to be listening offline tonight but may drop in later. Just know you are on my mind and in my heart

Knapp asks good questions.

Too late Nebraska. You should have gotten out while you still had a chance. You've already passed the event horizon to the black hole known as BellGab. You're here for life now.

I miss Runzas. I used to have a recipe for the dough out of the world herald. Mine would always turn out a tad sweeter than the real thing. I had to go to a funeral in Iowa a few years back. Had to go eat a Runza and then go see the new Rosenblatt stadium. I spent many nights in the old one.
One of the toughest courses I took at UNO was a Public Relations course taught by a guy named Reilly that was like the chief editor at the World Herald. Never take a course when the textbook is wriiten by the professor.

Is there a Runza Hut in your town? Kind of got hooked on them when I was stationed in Omaha.

I'm the same way. My default tv channel. Robert Osborne was like losing a grandpa. Have master classes in his short intros. I really like Ben Mankiewicz too. He has a gentle often self-deprecating humor I appreciate. I think his introduction style is very entertaining

As an example of what I don't like. Take a look at the nominees to the 1970 Best Picture.
Patton- love and glad it won but only came to it late. I saw the TV movie sequel decades before I saw the original.
Airport- need I say more.
Five Easy Pieces - Outside of the sandwich scene, I don't like the film. As a matter of fact, I didn't care much for Nicholson until I saw the Shining.
Love Story -bleech
MASH - liked the TV show but haven't watched the original movie
I think my problem is, I've never fully embraced the French New Wave. I'm getting around to watching a few of the films that defined it but again they are hard to like. I appreciate the added realistic touches but many times the story lines don't engage me and while I can appreciate and love downbeat endings like in the film noirs of the 1940's, many times FNW's and 1970's downbeat endings just depress me.

You should post in the Classic Movie thread. I'd be interested to see your take on some movies you like

Meh. I found it boring in stretches. I've seen it recently too. I'll let it be known that I revere pre-1968 Hollywood and don't like many of the new classics made between 1968-1976. I like how films embraced sexuality once more but a lot of the films leave me cold. I start liking mainstream films again when Lucas and in particular Spielberg enter the scene. It's an interesting contradiction in me as I love late 60's and 70's exploitation cinema.
