Let it be known ladies and gentlemen that White Crow has twice been banned from Bell Gab and has twice donated, read paid MV, to be let back into the asylum.

He likes to think he is one step ahead of everyone here and pulling the strings with his trolling antics but a fool and his money are quickly parted and White Crow is bell gab's fool.

This is White Crow.

Even if you buy the scenario it would be easier to argue that Art was the troll.  Gets silly real fast.

Now the Secret Door guests start coming - a different one each half hour.
So Noory's guessing games begin...

Oh the tension!  Will Dave figure it out in three guesses?  This is the most drama I've heard on the show in months.

Way to go, George, with another grotesque story about horrible things happening to children . . . your protests of "Why did I give you that story?" are as false as the black in your eye brows.

I was so disappointed when he started with "a 17-year-old boy from Peru" I thought for sure he was going for a limerick.  Maybe

A sleeping young man in Peru
Awoke at a loss what to do.
The itch in his eye
Was the spawn of a fly
So he gave it some basil to chew.

I always got a sense that Redacted was "one of the guys" and you can say anything in jest to her without any hurt feelings.

Yeah she doesn't seem the type to use the mic to talk about her day.  She will keep the focus where it belongs.

Am i the only one here that feels as though Art is very indifferent about all of these new affiliates that are signing up? Perhaps we are all pushing something that he doesn't necessarily want pushed right now. You feel me?

I don't see how there is any downside for him.  He dictates his own terms.  It's essentially just making his already-free stream available in more places.  And being on radio just increases his audience behind the die-hard types who will seek him out anywhere, which will increase the potential for interesting callers.

I have often wondered, why no thread for poetry or rhymes?

Of course haiku is not mere poetry but has been likened to a verbal martial art, as the buddhist or zen koans. It has been said, if done properly, an excellent haiku should be able throw Jorch ten feet back from his monitor.

Ok I'll try:

A storm of cuss words
A lonely man stands thinking
By the microwave

Man, this is just sad, it sounds like what people say when they are voted off the Island.

Art

Well he's electing to leave an uninhibited, occasionally savage island.  I think MV is entirely right in standing up for uninhibited speech; the benefits far outweigh the costs.  But there are costs.

Dave is addicted to Bellgab the same way some Bellgabbers can't resist the Falkie thread.

Great point, though I'd argue it's also Bellgabbers addicted to Dave for that reason, including me.  Slow-motion train wreck; you can't turn away.

Some people don't like when people use such words as the other f words like when presenting a message via a podcast. Nice deflection.

I cuss like a sailor, but the I jokingly asked her to say fuck in the forum which she followed by using the other f-word which I hadn't heard in such a setting before... and the last time I was called it was after a family member was being beaten, and I jumped in the middle to try to stop it. So my beef is something bigger than cussing.

I get what you're saying.  There was a bit of cringe-worthy homophobia around last night in the chat; some people said unkind things about Dr. J's presentation and I kind of felt bad for him.  To hear fag after that was a little surprising and maybe colored the friendly banter a little darker than you intended.  I chose not to be offended -- it's clearly open season on anyone here -- since I like you guys and would prefer that you continue to speak without inhibition.

I can't do haikus but

There once was a man named George Noory;
His tastes ran to macabre and gory.
A coaster was crashed,
Some people got smashed;
He said, "that's one hell of a story!"

I thiink you are correct...this was always an ego feeder for Dave...if he came on then he would think he was the guest of honor, if he canceled then that also gave him the sence of superiority...

Yes, he gets a lot of attention on this site, probably more than he gets from his insiders, and even negative attention is stimulating for attention-seeking people.

My favorite part of last night was when he was all "oh so you're a tough guy yeah" when he got cussed out.  Right out of a 1940s mobster movie.

I just listened to the interview, and here my are thoughts:

5) Being aggravated by the inner-dealings between radio show hosts and how their corporate overlords treat them is a distant concern, for me at least.

Agree with all your points but #5 is fascinating to me, at least.  I love Art's candor and the glimpses he gives us of usually-behind-the-scenes struggles, as aggravating as that may be.  It's been a hell of a ride and the show hasn't even started.  And Dave, too, in his fumbling way, has revealed a lot about his character.  It's setting up to be a classic battle -- brittle genius underdog vs. big-corporate glad-hander.  My money (literally) is on Art all the way, but I'll enjoy every minute of the game and hope they both give it everything they've got.

My problem with Dave is all about his pretension of moral superiority. Dave walks into the serpent's den and when bitten complains about the snakes. He gets to feign indignation for lack of respect. And, although true, insults are one of the common currencies in many of these threads, he can't have it both ways. If Dave were a consistently present member he may have some ground for demanding some level behavior with other members, but to present himself on such an infrequent basis and request/demand different behaviors is at least naive and more than likely manipulating with the hopes of fomenting infighting.

Yeah I agree, he vacillates between hey guys help me do better and you guys are horrible.  But I doubt he's deep enough to think of strategic manipulation.  I bet his people try to keep him away from here -- for a public person directly engaging critics is a big PR no-no.  I guess I see his ambivalence, wanting it both ways, as a normal human reaction to the circumstances here, and fascinating in an armchair-psychology way.

Sleep with one eye open... when Dave comes around, something goes awry.
What was the point of this bullshit tonight anyhow?

Well Dave did tell us two things we didn't know:  he won't sue for MV for libel (the prospect of which had much of the forum in a lather all day) and (in violation of Art's confidence ) that he wanted Art back on C2C and was trying to make a place for him.  Both points certainly adjusted the image I was forming of him.  I'm sure that's not nearly the whole story, but thank God Art didn't sign up with Dave; he would be miserable in that corporate hole.

What an insecure, sensitive little man Jorch must be. Most people in his position would realize there is nothing they can do about online critics, and just brush it all off, but Jorch just can't let it go, and always has to try and make an appearance, in order to prove what a great guy he is. Does he really think that will make all the critics disappear? Is he really that dumb? (That was rhetorical).

Not sure that's it.  I think the level of intellectual engagement he gets here, albeit largely critical, is satisfying compared with what he gets from his usual public appearances, callers and corporate suck-up cronies, so in a strange way Bellgab's opinions fascinate and really matter to him.  Hugely entertaining; thanks to all who made it so.

I find it ironic this new libel claim is happening now as the George Noory thread is slowly dying apart from a handful of die-hard posters such as myself.  Major Ed Damian had put a spark of life into it for awhile but has since moved on.  Yet, now that George and his team are threatening action, you can bet the George Noory thread will get a new lease on life.

Wasn't it immediately prior to Art's premiering Dark Matter that MV last got a message threatening libel?

He's just poking a wasp's nest.  I don't know why he was so naïve as to have engaged this forum to begin with.  Maybe the critical commentary available here is stimulating.

The only thing he may have accomplished was whatever prompted the renaming of the forum and whatever stopped Google from displaying George Noory Sucks at the top of the results.

i asked keith if they're going to break at 58:50 and come back at 06:00 as typically happens in talk radio, and he said no.  this whole thing will be quite revolutionary as talk radio goes, from numerous angles.

Dumb question:  how difficult would it be for stations to format a 3-hour stream into, say, a 4-hour broadcast on the spot to allow for radio breaks, i. e. as it was streaming, with progressive delays for each segment, if the radio breaks were cued somehow into the stream with brief musical interludes?  Could this explain why 12 songs are needed for each show?

BINGO!

If all this is indeed an effort to sabotage, even in a small way, Art's return to broadcasting I just don't understand what Dave is afraid of.  A podcast/live stream surely can't take away his listeners in any appreciable way.  And having the same guests making the rounds of paranormal-oriented media shouldn't pose a problem; I imagine AM and podcast listeners to be pretty distinct audiences.  Now if Art gets going on radio (please, please!) it's another thing altogether.

I don't understand why people want Art back?  He had a good run for a time but the genre is as boring as George Noory  He must be 75 years old and he's certainly been exposed as a bad parent to say the least. He has always employed the same interviewing stye as Jorche. Talk over the guest.  I bet old "Long John Neville" shows would be more interesting than the stuff Art or C2C do now.

Answering in good faith, you could say it's just nostalgia.  When I started listening -- well before Hale-Bopp -- Art's show was my first exposure to paranormal stuff.  It coincided with early adulthood, encountering the real world beyond a strict religious upbringing which purported to have all the answers, and opening my mind (by various means) to other exciting possibilities.  Just hearing him blows away all my middle-aged cynicism and takes me back.

I think MITD has the potential to be on smaller stations in almost every market around the country! Late night ads are cheap and I think Art's show will fit into smaller station's business structure...also, it may get a shiek niche kinda vibe kickin!

Smaller stations seem to have trouble figuring out what to program at night.  God I hope we get one in Seattle!

I would happily listen to 20 minutes of Art's cool bumper music or whatever an hour if it made the show friendlier for any radio stations that might want to pick it up.  Art's talent deserves more than a podcast.
