Not to mention these dangerous drunken lawnmotorists. Lmao!

Yeah, not my proudest moment, but it was either that or get stabbed in face. I found out the hard way not to call the wife's bluff about that.

Hey, we've got the best armed preschoolers in the world while their Brit counterparts are a just a bunch of cream puff thumb suckers.

Damn straight! According to the latest fake statistics, our pint sized, weaponized youngsters took out sixty-nine wannabe threats to God, country, and unabashed hedonism with sling blades while earning their allowances at the same time. MmmHmm.

Not really. In these type of traumatic injuries there is often a preceding medical event such as passing out (syncope), heart attack, or stroke, which are often difficult to detect if the patient dies of traumatic injuries from the lawnmower. As we know, stroke and heart attack remain the most common causes of death in the US, so lawnmower death numbers not so incredulous. Another issue-seriously-are the numbers of people who operate machinery (in addition to cars and boats) under the influence of drugs/alcohol. When I took trauma courses we discussed the high-risk trio of; youth, testosterone, and alcohol.

Still, the person who made that chart could've bolstered their case if they'd included the high numbers of non-terrorist deaths in the US each year from opioids (30,000+), and suicide (40,000+).

It really bugs me to be forced to give you credit when it's due, but in this instance I defer to your experience as a dedicated ER nursing professional, which is a calling that deserves more thanks and appreciation than it generally receives. That's the only reason I'm cutting you any slack tonight.

Anyway, as a long time lawn mower owner, I had determined that the only way to be killed by one was to hoist it up high enough to do the job and then let it fall on you. It hadn't occurred to me that lawn mower related deaths included people who happened to die of natural causes while operating them, but that makes sense. There may be hope for you yet.

Whether it's accurate or not, it was included on the list in order to mock the concern about Islamic terrorism.

There are lies, damned lies, and statistics, so at least we have a choice. Or do we?

Some more Fake News?

Notice the footnote says ''10 year average of terrorist attacks SINCE 9/11.  I wonder why they started with the following year instead of including 2001, because these honest journalists would never manipulate statistics.

After giving it some thought, I'm wondering the same thing about the validity of the lawn mower death count statistics. Those defy all credulity.

So, if a POTUS issues an executive order making it legal for anyone over the age of fourteen to kill hobos, it would have to be accepted without question? Asking for a fourteen year old nephew who wants to kill hobos.

I'd like to know more about the sixty-nine people who were killed by lawn mowers. I would think that with all the safety features they have now, a person would have to make a seriously concerted effort for that to happen. It's comforting to know that social Darwinism works, though, and those people probably would have eventually wound up killing themselves with can openers or cheese graters.

I'm ashamed to say I had to look up whether due process and equal protection apply to foreigners -- they do.  Given that, I'd think the idea someone should be deprived of the right to enter, once granted, without them would be uncontroversial.  That's the only thing at stake right now, not all that silly religious-test stuff everyone is bawling about.

There's no need to look it up because it's self-explanatory and resistance is futile anyway. You'll get much better value by spending your time indulging in all the things that give you pleasure instead.

I was halfway watching The Racket from 1928 on TCM, and there's a night club scene early on with a guy who's a dead ringer for Paul Reubens. The resemblance was amazing, and he even had a few Pee Wee facial expressions. I couldn't find the actor, and the movie isn't available on YT, but maybe 21st CM can help identify him.

Do you even know the name of the judge who handed down the ruling, know how long they have been on the bench, or know their history (do they often act as an "activist judge"?)

I'm not arguing that it could be that you are correct.  Heaven knows that it is not uncommon.  Just hoping that maybe you have a little insight into the case and that you might share (aside from your "feelings" or "suspicions").

You need to ask PB to address that because I was quoting him. Sorry for the misunderstanding, but I've never quite gotten the hang of how to put multiple quotes in a post. Cheers!

That's not quite what I posted, but you can think anything you like.  Perhaps you could point out the rulings where judges appointed by Obama have set aside their personal ideology in major cases and based their decisions on the law and on the Constitution.

Perhaps start with Sotomayor or Kagan, or Clinton's choice - former general counsel for the ACLU, Ginsberg,

No need. If you say they're phony, that's good enough for me. You're preaching to the choir, now.

You must have missed my earlier post.

Oh, I didn't explain myself very well.  My bad.

Yes it is possible to have honest disagreements regarding interpretation.  That isn't what's been happening for the past 60 years.  These Left wing hack ''judges'' don't do what they swore to do, which is to uphold the law.  Their rulings are based on their ''Liberal'' and ''Progressive'' ideology.  It's not an honest disagreement between people disagreeing over interpretation - these people aren't judges at all, they are advocates.  Advocates who get to make the decision.

In other words, they are phony judges, despite holding the office.

Do you really think this judge who made the ruling overturning Trump's Executive Order carefully went through the evidence presented, applied the various laws and precedents, and came up with that ruling?  Or do you think the ACLU went ''judge shopping'', and had a pretty good idea ahead of time how it would go?

So now you'll at least know what I mean when I refer them as phony judges, whether you agree with the terminology or not.

I don't agree with the terminology, but at least I now know that the sole criterion for determining if a judge is phony is because it's your opinion he or she is based entirely on your own subjective reasoning. Fair enough.

A while back I found some Italian website that had the I, Claidius series, all except for one episode, that seemed to be blocked. That episode, of course, was the infamous one featuring Caligula's horse, Incitatus.

Everyone was great, in that brilliant series.  I think it was a wig, by the way.

It's too bad there isn't a Masterpiece Theater on-demand channel. I wouldn't mind seeing it again, because it's been so long I've forgotten most of it.

We shouldn't have troops over there. Like the Saudis and Israel fight their own wars.

I agree, and if the cost of defending ME oil was added to the price of a gallon of gas at the pump so people could see it instead of it being hidden in our tax bills, I'm guessing there wouldn't be much public support for keeping troops in the region.

The unwavering support for Israel by many fundamentalist Christians has amused me for a long time, because it's based on the prophecy that the Second Coming won't happen until a third temple is built on Temple Mount. In other words, their main reason for protecting Israel is to ensure its existence so it can be destroyed during the events of the Christian end of days. It cracks me up that a lot of fundamentalists have no use for Jews, but insist that the U.S. must do whatever is necessary to defend Israelis without recognizing the irony of that position.

Have the radioactive zombies climbed over the wall yet and if so do we have enough US military left to defend ourselves against the Russians?

I hope so, I don't want to share my freeze-dried food with no filthy foreign types, especially the damn Britlers.

I hope the rest of you are as comfortable as I am weathering the apocalypse.

I'm plenty comfy, thanks, and have been doing everything I can in word and deed in my little corner of the universe to MAPA.
