OMG Nancy! :o :o :o   Thank goodness you are alright!  Was this from lightning?  Wind sheer, downdraft?

Soooo glad to be back! Thank you wonderful workers who work hard in the heat ... and this thread is just full of the coolest stuff to catch up on. Beads and bowls!

The tree that did all the damage was pretty darn big, but hollow. I'll take photos when the crews are gone.

Praise electricity!

Here's some news from our home front: at precisely 11 p.m. last night, just as Angel was premiering his new time slot for Skywatchers and I was tuning in ... when bammo! Big tree falls, takes out some smaller ones, part of our outside stairs, all the electricity and cable ... ripped and lying on the ground.

Live wires until electric company comes and unlocks the box and turns everything off. Electrician is peeved. State is taking over. He's worked for Trump and has been paid! Biggest hurdle now is finding a person to set the pole that holds the wires. That's a specialized job.

But! We have a generator and I finally figured out how to hook my old iPhone up to my main computer and use it as a hotspot, so this is all working out. Hope it's not an expensive data thing or trap. It's AT&T.

I can now get caught up, finally. Hope things have been quiet. 👯

Hey Nancy, great to see you !!!

Hi Gabby! I've been spending way too much time trying to re-locate the cutest little dog dancing in his glass cage. It would cheer up the Haven ... but now I'm thinking they all might be photoshopped, so the quest continues.

Mean while, here's a joke:

My daughter put it like this. Music from our time (50's through 70's) was more orchestral or at least orchestrated while today it is thrown together into a blender and whatever comes out is hit with auto tune and played on the radio. It's like the difference between Ballet and street dance. One has culture, the other is from the current culture. Did I make any sense or did I totally blow it? lol

Dyna* (Dyna prime, which is the cat) told me herself that the newer music has the orchestration on a similar volume vis a vis the singer, and thus the words recede in importance as they sound more and more garbled. I depend on the words, like poetry, and so it might not be your imagination that older songs got their message across much clearer. As in Dancing in the Streets with Little Eva, for example.

Someone, on this Forum is in a great deal of pain today. :'(  I can feel it, and it hurts like fucking fuck!

I wish I knew how better to control how this stuff affects me.  Till then please know, whomever you are, you're welcome to PM me .  There is probably a common thread we can work together on how to bring an end to this grief, or whatever the fuck this shit is.

Thanks.

I think you already have your answer, and the healing vibes are spreading outward as we speak. This is all well and good, but we will be needing extra bacon in about an hour or so. 👯

Ah, perhaps due to Whitley's warnings of dire possible futures like the Global Superstorm?

Yeah. As a younger guy, Pinchbeck wasn't appreciating an it's-all-over approach.

I don't recall that, was Pinchbeck a guest on Whitley's Dreamland podcast a few years back?
Sounds interesting though - who was on the side of pessimism and who for optimism in that argument?

I think it was Whitley's show, and I believe Pinchbeck was the optimist, accusing Strieber of going the fear porn route. Whitley brought the fight up more than once after that.

Pinchbeck got into a big fight with Whitley Strieber a few years ago on the air. It had to do with pessimism vs. optimism. Anybody remember it?

What would you like to see happen here next Nancy?  What would be your first choice to make what we do next, the right thing?

You may have some things in mind I haven't thought of, but I see three possibilities so far.

1) We could continue with free and open speech and allow the conversation.

2) We could ask for the conversation to be ended, and stay right where we are right now indefinitely.

3) We could demand that people who don't agree with us, lie to us, so as not to offend our sensibilities.

I hope people have some other suggestions that I could add to my selection, but with the above three possibilities being the ones I see in front of me right now, I would select number 1. I believe in uncontrolled  conversation, even while I realize that conversation, including the thoughts and beliefs of people are not under my control. I also realize I can be absolutely certain about something, while being absolutely wrong. Two different people can look at the same thing, and what they each tell you they saw, can be two entirely different things.

My choice is #1, with a bullet!

It's a matter of numbers. I'm hoping there are more thoughtful people than creepers here on BG.

Yeah, they documented it well with lots of photos and video, and there's lots of good documentaries out there where they talk about the things they encountered and experienced.

The enormous scope of what I saw is what haunts me to this day. My father was not a professional, but had a darkroom and loved the hobby of photography. His photos were clear. Crystal clear. I thought it was laundry being processed. The stark whiteness of it. It wasn't. It was bodies.

It doesn't matter if you believe or don't believe. What matters is what we do next. Even here.

You'd have to believe that our soldiers, who saw and documented it themselves, have been lying for 70 years.

Including my father, who took pictures. I saw them before I was old enough to know what I was looking at. But I remember them.

This storm front had a LOT of lightning with it.  No, I didn't catch a bolt, though it's wasn't for lack of persistence.  I watched for a strike then focused in said direction.  Of course the next strike would be behind me.

So!  There I was, in the middle of the court, playing bolt tag with the lightning and didn't catch a one.  Not, a single bolt.

Now that I'm sitting here, looking out of my bedroom window at the lawn where I was, just moments ago, I'm wonder what kind of performance I gave for; "Dancing With The Lightning?"  Sure am glad the medical crew for this Olde Phart's Complex, work across the street on the other side of my building. ;D

Okay.  Pics time then prepping to go out again.  These storm fronts have been banging through, rapid fire, all day and the next round is almost upon us. ;)

With the storms upon you and raging about, did you ever maybe think about some nice crochet?

I've been looking all over for them ... they are probably undecided. Patiently weighing all options ... nah. Either drunk or actively tussling.

Recipes?  I haven't a clue.. Nella sez I do.. only know after 3 very strong drinks I melt into chair.  Nella talks about almonds and alkaline is important..but only eat a few..

Nella loves Bacon too!.. but sez it only good for enjoyment of mouth, she recommends bacon wrapped prunes ..
Prunes help with the balance.. somehow?

Bacon wrapped prunes actually taste very good..

I'm pretty sure Nella is a magician. As evidence, those are certainly magic tomatoes. Beware, WC!

No it's a pare .. Bella Nella orders all my food.. sorry about the beer we mostly drink "Russian Standards" vodka.. but that's during dinner.. only two beers with lunch .. Nella keeps everything in balance. The vodka is mixed in drinks that have certain fruits that prevent hang over.. I thought it was BS, but after two weeks ...I'm a believer..

pic of menu

Does it only work in tiny amounts? Say, a couple of sips? If such a thing is possible for full-sized drinks, we will (ahem) need the recipe, posthaste. For experimental purposes, of course. Otherwise, it's only a Polish legend.

I saw your comment about being not-so-serene in the BellPhiles chat and wondered what was happening, since Serenity is always serene. It is so written in the files.

What's amazing is that you were able to locate all six casings, with fingerprints. What's ironic is that it happened during Art's interview. If only you could have called in ...
