I've heard rumors of Templars. Are there Templars here?

Yes, yes there are.

I could use more help in my campaign to talk (Redacted) into booking at least Alan Moore. Gaiman may be too big for Art now. Still hoping for Ellis.

Gaiman has a book out in like 5 days. Wouldn't be hard to get him.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm glad Art got this guest before Hoagie

Hoagie would demolish this guest either with real science or torsion physics. Either way.

Braaps! I have a feeling this show is going to be good.
#7628
Oh yes, portals through space-time are going to need air traffic controllers!
#7629
We really need some solid science guests. It's been a while. This warp drive will not happen. Not sure why this guy is bullshitting this, but there just isn't a real basis for this to work.

I can't help but wonder what percent of the MitD audience is interested in this show.  I know physics is fascinating to many people.  Just not to most people... even smart people. Jes sayin'.  :-\

It's not even physics, it's pseudoscience.

"There are a lot of other teams out there trying to develop something like this".

Not likely.

Haha, I was just quoting Fry who said that about Hypnotoad.

Well that too. I believe there is a 10 hour video on youtube of the hypnotoad. After about 3 hours, I start yawning.

That show started going downhill in season three.

Yeah, I liked it early on, but it sort of ran into the same problems that the Simpson's did. It eventually went stale and wasn't as good.

Wait.  If I set the vector to 19.5 then I'll to the the RCH Thread.  Third star to the left, then straight on till morning (paraphrased).

And that's where you need to be. All glory to the Hypnohoag!

You just have to keep the vector between 19.45 and 19.54999.

Again, my bad. It was in the data.

No.  He tried to connect the MV drive to the Braap bubbles!  Pay attention!!!  ;D

My bad, you get the MV drive inside of a Braap bubble, then of course you're going to somewhere. But that somewhere just might be the Falkie thread . . .
#7637
Did he just try to connect the EM drive research with warp bubbles?

hard to stay focused so far

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out just what scientific principles he's trying to anchor to, but he's just picking and choosing bits and pieces and it doesn't make any sense.

Man, this guy is taking Alcubierre's theoretical application of massive amounts of energy to space time and discombobulating it with applying low-level magnetic field geometries. That's not sound.

He just needs to hook up with Hoagland and use a torsion field.
#7640
Man, he's invoking Alcubierre. The problem there is that you need massive amounts of energy for one of those. Think a matter anti-matter annihilation of two planet Jupiter sized masses just to get into the ballpark. A thunderstorm is not going to accomplish that.

Elon's jumping the gun. Just redirect a few asteroids to impact the poles and release the carbon dioxide.

Former Australian Prime Minister John Howard had epic eyebrows too.

Magnificent.

He's also a mason.

He's also got epic eyebrows. Just more proof of my Hoagland/Trump masonic hair club world control conspiracy theory.

by the way weren't we all supposed to start a cult today? lol

I'm game. We can work on it during the show. Show looks good tonight, Tim Wallace-Murphy an expert on Templars, Masons, heretical religious sects, Rosslyn Chapel etc.

Tonight, a guy that's trying to build his own warp drive after having accidentally flown his plane through a natural one. That makes for a good story right there.

It is one of the most common metals in the crust of the earth, which means you don't have to mine it. The previous process was a very low yield, complicated chemical separation that was extremely costly.  All of the reagents were very expensive as well.

Then, Charles Hall, the founder of Alcoa, discovered you can put a cathode and anode in a solution and the metallic aluminium would easily crystallize! Job done!

Yay for Charles Hall! Aluminum is useful stuff. Hoagland was right in that large planets aren't really the ideal place to go for gold, which calls Sitchen's work into question. But I would also question why they'd want gold in the first place, its uses are limited when compared to other metals like aluminum or titanium.

Well, that and the fact that it's easier to just build a bunch of robotic gold miners instead of breeding slaves. And if you did breed slaves, you'd want them to not like gold in order to keep them from stealing it.

Braaps! Time to go pass out. Nite all.

Art has way to many callers to do that I think. Hoagie can do it because the caller queue isn't huge

Louis appeared twice tonight, so I'm guessing that's correct. I mean, it's really late. It's got to be the hardest time of night to attract callers.

Oh yes, gold can be made to look like silver! *sniff* picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.
