I will believe that when I actually hear his voice live on the gabcast.

He's been on before.

Anything particularly juicy?

Art got angry because everyone thinks he has 10 million dollars.

Fell on your blowhole? Poor baby.  We're you larping Sharknado? Seriously, are you ok?

I thought I saw a herring up there. I'm fine. Just stabbed myself with a branch, really nasty bruise.

*sigh* how many pages? Oh, I know. I'll just find his posts.  Do you think he came back because I was gone?  ;)

Hi Tiger, you missed stuff. Lots of stuff. I hurt myself climbing a tree today. I haven't been right since.

I said I would do it, how you do it is up to you. Sometimes I think this group would argue about the color of the sky and what dark group made it that way and perhaps who lied because it used to be a different color before the Mason's became involved.

Art

I'm pretty sure the world used to be all in black and white before the 50's. I have photographic evidence of this. Not sure how it ended up in color, but it's the masons.

i have no issues with the beard...get over it lol

I can't, once you see it, it sears itself into your consciousness and then you're screwed forever. I had a dream about it last night.

I'll bet anything that it's a plot device for one of the monster of the week episodes. It's a piece of alien technology and takes control of Skinner's mind and makes him do evil things. We've seen this before, whenever Spock had a beard, we knew it was evil Spock.

One thing I noticed is the inclusion of names/topics in the new series to make it current.  Two that come readily to mind were references to Obamscare and Snowden, but there have been others.  Seems like these references were a bit forced, rather than fitting in well with the flow of the programs.  Stuck me as like listening to someone who likes to name drop.

They're doing it with the technology too, showing a lot of cellphones and modern devices just to have them in the scenes. I think what Carter was going for was to ensure that the show had some current feature, because everything else seemed to be geared to be faithful to the original series. Even the incidental music is basically the same as it was, which is a little dangerous because music can sound dated, but it's still working here.

The name drops and the tech are the "modernizing" factor, but I'm not sure it was needed. I actually found it a little odd feeling to hear Scully say "Snowden" though. I must be that used to watching old episodes that it threw me a little.

No Art altar, that would be creepy. Got one for Jimmy Page though.

What Art seems to be is a masterful manipulator,

I think that goes too far lol. I've seen too many mistakes made over the last month to say such a thing.

Quote
What you write above is ludicrous....he is out of it?....it's Rowland stuff?? Art has nothing to do with the network that he built for Art's return???

Yeah, Art said he's out. No ownership. That means ask the guy that owns the damned thing, and that's Rowland.

Quote
It seems you may be too into one of you writings and/or you have been inhaling too much of the smoke that blows out of Art's behind.

Well, I'll own up to smoke, but not the kind you might be thinking. You over cook the turkey Frejya, it's as simple as that. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Quote
OK...Art asked for questions, so what are yours?

I'm a "sycophant", I don't really have any questions. I'm satisfied with what he said about the matter, the story is good enough for me as it is. But the right questions would come from people like you, Frejya, that have unanswered questions about what happened. So you are the one that needs to post a list.

What can Art even really say at this point? He's painted himself into a corner. We already know the official line on everything so the most he could do is come off looking badly on this (no offense) little podcast. Why disgrace himself like that? This dude was a guest on Larry King at one point in his life.

Art's problem so far as been the written word, but don't underestimate his abilities with the spoken word. He can seed good will again if he fields questions about the stalker situation and people get a thorough picture of what happened. I have no doubt he's telling the truth, so with enough discussion of it detractors will start feeling stupid as the holes fill in. That said, he should not talk about the network and show, he's out of that for now. That's business, ask Rowland that stuff, or (Redacted) or whomever.

And the right questions need to be asked. People that have been deep into this thread need to be asking the questions. It should not be people that take an occasional glance at the thread and then miss 30 pages. They would only ask things that have already been answered and it would go like the last gabcast went, nobody would ask the things that people wanted to hear.

We can have 1 1/2-2 hours of Art Bell without it having to be a FRIKKIN inquisition.

And then the next day Bellgab would be burning down over the softball PR interview. I agree on Showroom Dummy, though, that guy can talk. I'm just a ditzy stoner IRL.

I still vote for MV and Art, if the show slows down, they can call Jaz.

Somebody just slipped me $50. I think Showroom Dummy should be on too.

Too kid gloves. The whole thing will backfire if it doesn't have a dissenting voice. There are too many cranky people on Bellgab for that.

That would be an excellent idea. One of each fair across the board.

Yep, to balance everything out. Caller heavy is probably not a good idea, however, because I think it would automatically be heavy on sycophants and weak on detractors because it's easy to be a detractor when one is posting, but not so easy when speaking directly.

What is the point of Art appearing on the Gabcast? It's a damned-if-you-do and damned-if- you-don't situation for the host. If the host asks Art softball questions, the host will look like a Milquetoast. If he asks the "hard" questions, then he will be labeled as a "troll" by Art's ever present army of sycophants.

Besides, even if you wanted to be the "dick" who asks Art any tough questions, who's to say that he would answer them? Politicians get asked tough questions all the time, but never answer them directly. They just deflect and give their practiced responses.

Art has a platform every single night. A three hour platform. All he needs to do is call into his own show, like he has on 2 occasions already and take unscreened calls. How is a Gabcast going to be any different from that? Or maybe Heather can interview him again.

MV can pull it off. He gave Noory a fair shake and can be reasonable but also hardball as warranted. If he thinks he needs co-hosts, I would suggest a sycophant and a detractor.

I don't know what you mean about 'consistency'

Consistency in that everything Art's said on the matter has been consistent. I haven't seen anything contradictory that would lead me to believe I was being fed a bullshit story. It just looked to me like Art was a guy stuck in a bad situation making hasty, bad decisions.

Quote
That's a fair point. Therefore you look at the circumstances of the case to see if his behaviour is consistent with his claims.

It's completely consistent with someone backpedaling from misstatements and trying to minimize the damage. While I will say that I believe Art's telling the truth, I think the decisions made in response to the threat were ill-thought-out and needlessly damaging.

Quote
It doesn't matter whether it's out of the ordinary or not. It could be totally unprecedented for something like this to happen,

In light of Art's clarification about the phone threat today, you may want to reform this position. Up to you.

Quote
No, he had to go into hiding for a long time, at least until the Ayatollah Khomenei died, who put out the fatwa against him. He was in the position of being someone whom it was every Muslim's duty to kill, and was under 24-hour police guard for many years. That's really living in fear.

Well, actually, he hit the TV interview circuit and shelled out a bunch more novels in the aftermath of that. That was one hell of a lucrative fatwa. If he was as scared as you suggest, the response is not to maintain a high public profile, but get yourself as far off of the Shi'ite radar as you can. If I were him, I'd have been living in fucking Greenland with the Inuit and no one would have ever heard a word out of me again until I dropped dead from a heart attack from all the seal blubber.

Quote
But, fair enough, you wanted to take your daughter out to enjoy the snow, and we would be churlish to criticise that.

I think he stuck his head out the door, looked around, decided the threat was minimal at that time and they went out and had fun. I would have done the same thing even if I were under threat, though snow here is something we spit at and loathe. Art's a human Sredni, humans do spontaneous human things.

Quote
I don't think you come from Missouri at all. You are just one of those trendy bastards who like to boast about hailing from the 'Show-Me' state but were just pretending all along.

None of us here know where that "Show me" state crap came from. We all know it should be the "Meth lab state". As far as being on the jury at your murder trial, you don't want that. I would vote guilty simply on the basis of your villainous accent.

Quote
Yes, that's what they all say, but we both know the truth, you jealous bastard! I've got Oliver Stone on board to direct the 'Terror in Pahrump' movie, with Falkie playing the grassy knoll. I've cast Chronaut as Heather Wade, and he is already deep into his window licking research, and am currently auditioning leprechauns to play the part of 'The Stalker'. If you want a role, just PM me. I'm afraid you don't have the acting chops to play Asia though, much as you'd like to sit on Art's lap.  :)

I can already tell you that this film is going nowhere. Nowhere. Just like I told you Star Wars ep. VII would go nowhere. Firstly, you're underusing your talent. You've cast Falkie as the grassy knoll. While knoll may be a strangely applicable term, I would suggest you recast him as Pahrump. Actually, fuck it, I will direct the film. We need a triple extra large shark suit, a shitload of explosives, bad ass hotrods, some marijuana, you cast as the villain, a couple fake handlebar moustaches, a Harley Davidson, a full sized mock up of a UFO and Sigourney Weaver. You want a movie, I'll make you a fucking movie. Probably won't have much to do with Art though. Well, maybe he can do a cameo water ski jumping the Falkie-Shark with explosions going off as a backdrop. That would be bad ass.

Self-publishing, in today's age, is probably better than "hitting it big."   Bought my first condo with songwriting $$$ and I'd *NEVER* share it here.

I can say this much, my bro-in-law is publicizing his book right now and he's getting a lot of promotion time and interviews...  Two hours on a satellite radio show (intermingled with music) later this week.  He's making money for himself and his publisher but the book's nowhere to be found on the NYT or Amazon top whatever lists.

Yeah, that's true. If you know how to promote your book on the web, you can make tons of money self-publishing on Amazon or other places. "Wool" and "The Martian" were both originally self-published on Amazon.
