Dannion Brinkley may help some people but it should be noted that he fudged some things in his own history, and for this, got a mention in the book Stolen Valor.

These days you only hear, like on C2C, about the holistic, one-with-nature, peaceful crap but the reality was many of the Indian tribes, especially one in the plains, were very creative with their torture. For males of warrior age captured after battle or raid (babies usually just head bashed in, woman raped and killed, old folks killed, young women raped and/or used as slaves, young boys could join tribe if they were fit (even if non-Indian or if not of their tribe): burning to death starting at heads and feet- or by putting burning single coals one at a time on your chest, flaying alive, scalping alive, made to eat your own flesh, breaking bone by bone, etc. Often allowing recovery time and food/water so that the torture could last as long as possible. Interestingly, warriors were respected if they showed resistance singing war-songs, boasts of conquests, etc as they died.) Pretty much people all over the world, at least in history, did some crazy horrible things. I wonder where "humane" got its definition.

Always make sure your bullshit detector is one when you hear something--anything--about Indians on Coast to Coast.  A lot of these people are the fake "pretendians" that don't know what they're talking about and believe a mishmash of supposed native teachings from all kinds of sources. George seems oblivious to the phoniness of these people .That's why I was so grateful to find NAFPS(New Age frauds and Plastic Shamans).

And, yes, I actually believe that the default for many primitive peoples was barbarism and brutality. Its just a fact. That was one thing I liked about the movie "Dances With Wolves."  At least they didn't gloss over the tribe-on-tribe brutality.  It was going on long before the white man.

I had an unhappy experience at a bus stop in Seattle earlier today. It was on 45th St. It was a temporary stop--the proper one is having work done on it.  Its a busy stop and two different buses use it. I was waiting for the 16. When the 44 came, I shook my head.  That's usually what people do in these situations--it saves the driver stopping needlessly. Then another woman ran up and tried to catch it unsuccessfully.  I swear I hadn't seen her, and when I did I could have sworn she had just gotten off that very bus. So I said, "I'm sorry, I didn't know you wanted that bus.  I thought you'd just gotten off of it." She said, "Stupid, you should make those decisons for yourself." There was another one in 15 minutes but I felt terrible.  I swear that I didn't know she was there at the time I shook my head.

I don't like being called stupid, even when I am. Does anybody think people are in worse moods around major holidays or on these these long holiday weekends? I think they are.  I will never forget one time just before Christmas when a guy really went off on me on a Seattle street. I had been staring at him, only because he looked like he was going to get into a fistfight with another guy.  I know staring at people is provocation, but as I said, he acted like he was about to get into a fight. So he walked along with me for at least a block, calling me names, insulting and haranguing me even though I was trying to ignore him.  Other people were giving us dirty looks(mostly giving him dirty looks, actually).

So the current one is quoting some caller who said they didn't have internet, I suppose?  I always marvel at those people when they call talk radio shows. I don't know wheter to feel sorry for them, be annoyed or envy them.

You may say that I am one of them.  But not having internet at home(presently) is not the same thing.  These people don't have email addresses, even. I guess it's admirable unless they are constantly bothering other people to access things for them on the internet, which I suspecct is the case sometimes.

Actually, Coast to Coast is the show where I most often people bragging(that's whaty it sounds like) about not being on the internet.  I think there may even have been a guest or two that brags about it.

So, it should either be "clamoring" OR "chomping at the bit." My mother used to say "fonching(sp) at the bit."  I assume that means the same as chomping. Its refrencing horses,  of course.
Lets face it.  Unlike most of us, the World War II generation still had one foot in an America that was very rural and agricultural. Nothing wrong with using old fashioned metaphors, if you don't mix them up, as George did.

I get my Chakras vigorously rubbed once or twice a week... If I don't rub out some of the old Silaps on a routine basis  I find my Regnants are all to fuck for the rest of the month and that's no laughing matter, I can tell you.

Oh, and I drink.
Are you Al Gore?

Wasn't Nancy Leider the one who recommended that people euthanize their pets for the end of the world or whatever?  I seem to remember something about that. She's being thrown under the bus tonight I see.

During the Camping affair, there was a guy trying to obtain euthanasia meds for his pets. I donb't remember where it was, but it was in the news. I don't think that a responsible vet would do this. These are strictly controlled drugs, for one thing.

Years ago a friend of a friend who was convinced she'd been abducted by aliens thought that the world was coming to an end, so she bought a car they couldn't afford because she thought it wouldn't matter.  I don't think that her husband was on board with this.  I don't know what became of her.  My friend isn't friends with her anymore.

This Marshall Masters who's guesting tonight is a FOUR QUACKER:

He has been pushing his Planet X theory for ages, and has been into the business of preaching survivalism after a megadose of catatrophobic fear mongering at the same time.  Just what planet Earth needs: another QUACK!
Hey, whadya knwo, this guest is on right now, tonight. I'm sure that some thought it would be Marshall Mathers, you know, Eminem.

Poor Larry's career has gone straight into the shitter if that is so.

Well, it did get worse, because the spots are touting them for Mothers' day, and now, Fathers' Day, gifts.

Did he mention any skinny dipping? I don't mind his rhetoric and actually agree with some of his views (haven't listened in a few years due to local AM radio format changes though.) But I never quite believed the guy believed his stuff. I'm sure I'll be called anti-Semite but something about him rubs me like it is an act. The new name, his odd history, his asides about his RockStar energy drink son and the money. His fiction book was formulaic, even considering the standards of an airport "thriller" novel, and pretty poor. But I still like to hear him rant and especially when he eviscerates a caller. But something is still 'rotten in Denmark' to me.

Yes, rotten. I have sworn off this character.  Though I've sworn off before--it's like quitting smoking for some people. The Alex Jones mentions didnt help, nor did his catering to Donald Trump. But what really got me is the way he dumps on Angelina Jolie. We have discussed this before on these boards.  I don't like the  way he fixates on womens' clothing, jewellry, etc. The latest is Marie Harf.  Don't get me wrong--I don't like her and don't know why she hasn't been fired yet, but what business is it of his where she buys her clothes?  He ridicules womens' hats. Not all of may hats are fashion statements.  I had skin cancer, OK?

Yeah Phil did quite a few bits about him, his nickname for him was "combover boy."

Hendrie>Leykis

My favorite Hendrie take-off on Leykis was the one about him bemoaning the fact that his mother wouldn't have sex with him.  Hendrie never left any doubt who he was parodying when he parodied other talk show hosts. Of course, you know, he used to poke fun at Art Bell, too.

In the character dept, I would vote Imus hands down over Leykis. Imus and his wife do stuff for kids charities, I guess.  I don't think Leykis stays married to any one woman long enough to launch a charity.

Leykis 101--never spend more than $30 for a date. Does he ever adjust for inflation? Cheap fucker. I'll bet the restaurant industry loves him.  I wonder if this incudes McMennamins. He used to shill for them.
"Never get involved with a single mom." Suit yourself.  Some of the happiest marriages I know started when the woman (or the man) already had at least one child.

LOL, let the love flow folks.    I don't agree with everything he says, but there is a lot that he says that is absolutely true.   I don't know what you're talking about him being liberal for - he's pretty libertarian IMO.    I haven't listened to him in years, but Leykis 101 rules will be taught to both my son and my daughter.   There's no reason to sugar coat life to your kids.   I wish someone had taught me some of the stuff Tom says when I was a teenager - it would have made things better and more interesting for me.

Aside from the 101 "lessons",  he is definitely entertaining.  Some classic moments I remember is he got some dumb bitch to admit to killing her boyfriend or husband on the air and then told her he had her number and he was going to track her down and make sure she went to jail.  I don't recall what ended up happening for certain with it, but I think they did eventually find her.    Flash Fridays were also fun to listen to.   He just had funny callers and he was great with them.   IMO, call in shows with a host who can extract maximum entertainment from the callers is what makes great radio.  Hence why I love Art.  Leykis is there too, as well as Phil Hendrie.   All great, but Art is the master.

BTW, I lived in Seattle at the time I listened to him, and I never went to his public shows either.   He's a sorry looking guy, I thought it was pretty funny that he got his ass kicked for pissing off a listener.

Yes, I used to wait for the bus frequently near the establishment where that happened.

I'm a few days late on this, but Joel Skousen is the nephew of Cleon Skousen, the guy who wrote the book that Glenn Beck was all hepped up on a few years back. Beck doesn't talk about it any more. I poked around on the internet and found that not only does he believe that at least some of the ISIS beheading pictures or videos were faked(George is leaning that way too, I'd like to remind you, has been for some time) but he may be one of the originators of the Sandy Hook "false flag" theories. I thought that this was important enough to mention, even though I'm a little behind. I've had enough crises of my own, I haven't had time to visit coastgab for awhile.

As far as Joel Wallach goes, I'm really troubled by him too, but think I'll start a thread under "guests" unless thee already is one.

So this guest claims that the CIA controls all media in the U.S. How do people live like that?  I mean, honestly, how does one get through the day, believing some of the stuff these people believe?

George gets one of his advertisers who sells prepper supplies to comment on Baltimore.  Nice move.

Back on the subject of Caspar mattresses, I think some of these people are confusing real-life mattress-buying, which is usually pretty boring, with mattress buying as depicted in movies and TV shows.

In 9 1/2 Weeks, Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger are horsing around in the mattress department of a dept. store, and the saleslady becomes concerned that they may do something inappropriate(just like the men in the buggy whip store where they purchase a whip)

In my favorite Monty Python episode, a pair of giddy newlyweds run into snags when they attempt to purchase a bed in a dept. store.  I consider this skit to be a classic commentary on dysfunctuional workplaces.

Yes, somebody(probably on Free Republic) said that Cunningham's face looked like it was melting.

I guess one of his main claims to fame is that he mentioned Obama's middle name in a speech introducing John McCain at some function and McCain freaked out, because that's supposed to be racist, even though Hussein, is, well, his real middle name. So this gave Cunningham some publicity he might not otherwise have had.

I'm a right-winger, too.

I was referring to the "Bad to the Bone" theme music.

There's another thread devoted to this guy. We are stuck with him in the Sunday evening slot on KVI since Drudge gave up his radio show. I would rather infomercials than this hack(he pretty much embodies my idea of talk radio hack in case you ever wonder what I mean when I call somebody a hack). I do my best to have a movie to watch or something those nights, or be gone, just silence and a good book. I think that KSER, which I often like, plays music I hate on Sun. nights.

I read someplace (maybe Free Republic) that Cunningham has a TV show along the lines of Jerry Springer, only the guests are usually black, suggesting it's an attempt to make blacks look bad.  I don't know.  I haven't seen it, and maybe that's who applies to be on the show and that's why it's not more diverse. But I think he's friends with Springer, so it doesn't surprise me that he would have a tasteless, exploitative  TV show.

Listening to this hack might ruin George Thorogood for you, and we can't have that.

Some of us really liked Interstellar.

I know.  She looks like my yoga teacher, who's 60, but could pass for 45.

I've been gone for a few days.

Last night when a caller was relating a story about an abusive stepmother who may have poisoned her, I think Noory chuckled a couple of times.

You know, I think I've been on this site for 2-3 years.  I lurked for about 6 months before joining.  I admit that I thought that people here were a little too hard on Noory, that most of you missed Art and were venting rage. But I joined anyway because the people were smart and I enjoyed engaging about all kinds of things, not just the show.  Well, now you are vindicated.  Noory is as big an asshole as people have been claiming.

Incidentally, I bought the Zac Bissonette beanie baby book(on eBay, ironically) I read it in a day and it will be one of my top reads of 2015 probably(I belong to a book group that keeps track of that sort of thing)If you like fairly short books about social phenomena you will like this even if you don't know Snort the Bull from a Peace Bear.  Noory so didn't do this man justice in the interview.

Well, this is a doozy.

This morning on Glenn Beck a commercial for Squatty Potty was recommending it as a Mothers' Day gift. To make the cheese more binding, I think the narrator of the spot was Larry King.

Your kid gets you something like that for a mothers' day gift, you think maybe Medea had a point.
