Memo to self: Never drink while viewing the Jorch's Eye Pad thread.

Great stuff, PB!

If George was an airplane, he might be a Blériot XI R1 Pinguin which couldn't fly.

It was made for ground training. Come to think of it, George could use some ground training, any kind of training...@E#$%!!

I wanted to thank all of you for posting the nightly C2C play-by-play which ironically, is far more entertaining than the actual show. Before I found this place, I used to listen and think "Did he really say that? Am I getting to that point in life where I'm starting to hear things?!"

Roy, I urge you to reclaim the Nighthawk name from that charlatan and enjoy your pen. Here might be a good place to start.

I've had some nice luck playing Art stream roulette. Yesterday when I put it on, the guest was Michio Kaku. The day before it was Father Malachi Martin.

Thanks again for the stream, linden!

I've rather unwisely chosen to be an assistant coach for my kid's baseball team of 13-15 year olds. The other two coaches/fathers are 52 and 49. I'm 37. But to these kids, I can sense they think I'm in the same age group as the other two. To a 13 year old, they seem to fail to dilineate the difference between 37 and 52. In their eyes, we're equally "old" or so it seems.

In summary. It's over. Back 9 for me.

*As I typed this I'm watching a Colombo episode that originally aired on 2/10/74. I really am an old bastard.

Ha! Just wait another 8 years my friend. If you think it's bad now...

Middle age ain't for panty-waists.

Not only is your representation of Ian totally spot-on, but your quotes are probably pretty close to the "trooth" too. And always a scream! Thanks, PaperBoy!

Tarantino writes some awesome dialogue.

"Mr Pink's a pussy name. Why can't I be Mr Brown?"

I think the nut of the problem is regular, every-day working people aren't in positions of power. What we have in this country is a political class akin to the government in some banana republic.

What we need is to take money out of politics and elect people who honestly have the peoples' interest at heart. When office-holders are career politicians, they're no longer in touch with the real world the rest of us inhabit and therefore, could care less about the people they govern.

Sardoni, PaperBoy,  Jackpine, etc. I may not agree with you guys much, but were any of you on a ballot here, I'd probably vote for you given that none of you seem enamored of having power for powers' sake and seem to care deeply about the founding principles of this country.

I'll take it on faith that those of you so upset about Obama were full of equal ire for a previous administration starting war based on outright lies. Good thing we're the world's big super-power, otherwise some folks would be facing war crimes trials.

Oh, and callousness towards the Constitution and erosion of our freedoms (in the name of security that doesn't exist) began back then too. Were you all against that too or do you only squawk when it's a guy not on your team breaking the law?

As far as I'm concerned, both this President and the one before him should be facing charges. Bush for Iraq and Obama more so for failing to prosecute the bankers for the crash than anything else.

Pro tip: NONE of these guys cares about regular folks like you and me. They all sell us out with distressing regularity. Heads they win, tails we lose.

The radio station I'm listening to accidentally started playing the Benny Hill theme (Yakety Sax) over top the program.  It seemed somehow appropriate.

This should be mandated by the FCC.

Anyone who considers this the "worst administration ever" has an incredibly short-sighted view of history. (Van Buren, Tyler, Grant, Harding, Hoover, Nixon anyone?)

That's an excellent point, GfP2216. One thing I've noticed is that those in power and those that have a public platform always seem to espouse some sort of religious bent, but practically never followed such in their own lives.

I've been thinking about this a lot, and what Sardoni says makes perfect sense. But let's face it, Art always was a con. Ed Dames, Hoagland, etc. & most of the old C2C we loved was a con. Entertaining as hell, sure, but definitely a con. It reminds me of when I caught my mom watching Rush Limbaugh's TV show back in the early 90's. She said she took nothing he said seriously and it was just entertainment.

Wait, Major Ed Dames remote viewed Angelina Jolie's breasts? What? How did I miss this one?

I loved how Wells' guest was all freaked out because Tsar Nicholas II and King George V resemble each other. Of course they looked similar, they were first cousins. Duh.

I think you're spot-on, apogee. Fortunately, you can listen to old Art Bell shows on  the Fine Art Stream and download commercial-free old and current C2C shows here. You can also listen live for free here .

I used to be an "insider" but this place has convinced me it was a waste and I just couldn't take one more snake-oil show.

Art may be gone, but at least we have access to the archives!

i'm not sure there's any evidence he does own the rights to those shows.

Premiere at least has the right to distribute them through the C2C site. Whether they own them outright or just pay Art a royalty, I don't know. Since Art walked away with such a large chunk of change, my guess is Premiere now owns them. Still, I bet that even if Art retains some rights to them he's probably not able to do much with them commercially as this would compete with SIT on the C2C site and a lawsuit by Premiere would cripple his retirement.

I'm not sure I'd want my life extended even if Obamacare would pay for it. That would probably just mean a few more years spent waiting to die in the old folks' home assisted living facility.

As things are now, my work insurance has a $1,000 deductible which is almost a month's take-home pay, so in effect, I have no coverage. It would be hard to come up with anything that does less for me than that.

With those things in mind, I'll be enjoying my bacon and other bad-for-you foods with gusto.

Or maybe a Michio Kaku marathon?

If all else fails, got any John Titor?

So what kind of spin will AJ put on that shooting at the Houston Airport.  With DHS involved, he'll be spouting off some asinine theory.  My bet is that this guy was a patsy like the other recent mass shooters, but he somehow came out of his drug-induced and tried to get the truth to us, the people.  Sound about right?

I always thought Alex Jones was the drug-induced patsy.

Thanks for those shots, Valdez. Wow does George ever have a bad toupee. That explains the Kiwi shoe polish dye he uses.

Thats one of Art's classic bumper music selections from the 90s:

I bought her double-album Live in Paris & Toronto because Art played this song. Glad I did too. Loreena McKennitt has some wonderful music.

To me, it all comes down to selling soap. Wells, etc. are playing to their audience and their advertisers, no more, no less. Yes, sometimes there are nuggets of truth in the shows, but taken on the whole, nobody at C2C is going to do anything that "sets the audience straight" as knowing the facts would erode their audience and by extension, their advertisers who bankroll the whole thing.

Alex Jones is a kooky person, but harmless. I would be shocked if the FBI, CIA, NSA, or any intelligence/law enforcement agency,  is even remotely interested in anything he says or does. He`s a non-factor in the big scheme of things, as are virtually ALL other entertainer/radio hosts - left, right, center or neither.

I think you're right, FTF. Alex Jones, C2C, Rush Limbaugh, Rachel Maddow etc. are all just noise and only out there to sell ads. There are much more important things to be worried about.

I just listened to the show with Richard Belzer and while it got better towards the end, good ol' George just couldn't keep from interrupting him constantly. Cripes, with a guest that good they should just turn the whole show over to Belzer and give George the night off.

There's an archive of Somewhere In Time shows you can listen to, but not download, if you're a Coast Insider. It seems you can get most, if not all of them, and more from funklbaldy's site.

More from the Yahoo feed:
This just in via Yahoo News's Rachel Hartman, at her post in the basement of the White House press workspace:

"Shortly after 9:45AM, the President, joined by Vice President Biden, convened a briefing in the White House Situation Room with his national security team on developments in the investigation as well as the events in Boston and Watertown, MA. Participating in the briefing are Attorney General Eric Holder, FBI Director Robert Mueller, Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, National Security Advisor Tom Donilon, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Lisa Monaco, Deputy National Security Advisor Tony Blinken, Deputy Chief of Staff Alyssa Mastromonaco, Deputy National Security Advisor For Strategic Communications Ben Rhodes, Deputy Counsel to the President Avril Haines and National Security Advisor to the Vice President Jake Sullivan. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, Secretary of State John Kerry, and CIA Director John Brennan joined by video conference. The briefing is currently underway."
