Also, say what you will about George, and the commercials, and all that...at least he keeps the show about the topic at hand, and hardly ever about himself. Anything you know about him, you know anecdotally. He's not an attention whore.

Hi Paul.

He's got a few old chestnuts he'll retell from time to time, but yeah he doesn't go gushing on about himself.  (He does like to mention though about his working on holidays for shut-ins.)

So, are you saying we should be giving Snorry and (Redacted) equal time here on bellgab?

Asking for a friend.

LOL I'd never presume to direct anything here, but when it comes to taking hosts seriously, I just grudgingly give GN the nod over HW.  At least he's actually maintained a commercially-viable show for some 15 years, that's consistently aired, has a working website, has many terrestrial affiliates, and supports a fairly broad and sizeable audience.  As opposed to, well, you know.

He left Noory behind intentionally too ('George gets it'), and at least Coast was the show that built Art's reputation, not some lousy vanity project  at the end of his life. Heather is an insipid hack just like Noory and should be treated the same.

I would argue Noory should be treated slightly better.  Why?  Because at least he's a pro.  "What!" you may ask?  "He sucks!", you may say.  True, but look, just because he sucks, doesn't mean he's not a pro - commercially, not creatively-speaking.

Heather though is a delusional amateur that lives in a bubble-world fantasy that she's next in line as broadcaster-of-the-universe.  This while she struggles to hang onto a handful of legally-incompetent fans for her marginalized podcast from a dilapidated shed.

Heather is, for better or worse (likely both), what Art intentionally left all of us.

That has to count for something, yes?

Dude he also had one Richard Hoagland as his official "science advisor" for years lol.  Then later he brought on that genius Leo Ashcraft for his great news-reading skills.  So just since he liked someone it's not necessarily confidence-building.  ;)

Great, now I can send in that care package!  I have a couple random USB's laying around, not sure what's on them, but will send them to you anyway in case you can make use of them.  Also will include some knock-off aromatherapy candles from the dollar store (they double as air-freshener!)

Come on, this is her tribute to Art.  Don’t you remember all of Art’s unboxing shows?

I think Art would have said "Yes yes people send me all kinds of things, now, do you have a question, sir?"  These maudlin gift-giving/virtual hug sessions are just too much.  On a side note, I wonder if Bart Ell's site has a gift-wrapping service.

It's quite depressing to watch her burn so many bridges and make such mindless decisions when years ago on BG she said that being a radio personality would be her dream job. I can't imagine how depressed you lot are who regularly communicated with (Redacted).

Back then she had a playful, spontaneous, irreverent spirit about her.  That was lost (or abandoned) when she "went pro" and started trying way too hard to be a big success, as was ordained by her mentor.  It's weird now to hear her be so sentimental and ingratiating with her listeners - the old gabcast crew would have laughed her off the show for that b.s. lol.

I'll listen tomorrow when mowing. Watching "Alone in the Dark" (1982) such a great cast in a bad movie, tho a good one?

The guest name-dropped better than Hoagie in the first segment, but now we're getting into the nerdy stuff which is pretty good.  The science and lore around meteorites, and the hunting thereof, is surprisingly kind of interesting.

Is Hoagie off again tonight?
Yep - its Kynthia filling in as guest host again...

Weak.  Hoagie IS the show.  I tried tuning in a couple weeks ago, and kept waiting for him to chime in.  I then realized belatedly it was one of these bogus Kynthia shows.  Trickery!

I want to thank those who were brave enough to monitor the MITD2 stream last week.  It's important that such events are documented so future generations will never make the same mistakes.  I myself could only tune in a for a few mins. here or there, before the psychic trauma became too much.  Just a few fragments were enough - a retelling of the cigarette story, some fawning caller being asked to say happy birthday to Asia, live unboxings of various care packages sent in, gushing well-wishers, more legacy claims and assurances, continued use of the now-macabre art promos, etc.  It's truly surreal, and if others weren't around to confirm the experience, I'd question my own grip on reality.

Looking forward to tonite!  First guest is a guy from the old Science Channel show "Meteorite Men".  As one of the estimated ten fans who actually watched that show, I can't wait.  Then, second guest is some dude who supposedly built a "device" that opened a "portal" that let in some kind of "bipedal creatures".  Add in some of Ms. Connie's patented giggles, Wow's, and possible Bigfoot references, and now you've got a show.  8)

Airyn on gabcast? That would be great.
"No stalker, never was stalker, Art just want give show to nasty Heather" . "Heather very nasty girl". "Heather if you listen, you stay away me and my children, you very nasty girl, do nasty things with Art in shed, stay away me!"

I laughed at this.  Then I felt bad.  And then I laughed again.

Right? They had so much fun with it. I've sworn off most new stuff polluted by the times, so I'm revisiting a lot of old stuff.

I think I've become immune to it lol, but yeah there is a difference.  Sometimes refreshing to go back when pop culture wasn't quite so, how would I say it, self-conscious.  Think I'll give B5 a try btw.

Farscape is pure.

Oh yeah, it's a kick in the head.  What I love is they just ignore all that realism Trek worries about - instead just diving into whatever they feel like.

Ah,. I'll check it out. Binged Battlestar Galactica a couple of years ago...pretty good.

Yes I think BG, at least the first few seasons was great (they lost their way a bit later imho).  The Expanse is the best one I've seen so far since then.

Did you ever follow Babelon 5? I've heard it's pretty good.

The premise of it sounded pretty cool but for some reason I never watched it.  Same with Farscape although I did finally binge that one off Netflix and overall I loved it.  It's sort of the crazy opposite of Trek lol.

I think Enterprise had the potential to be the best Trek series had it been allowed to continue ... Seasons 2-3 (part of 4) were some of the best Trek out there .. My favorite overall series is DS9, though.

I feel like I should do a full DS9 run since I've heard the story arc gets pretty epic.

Great idea.  (Both of them.)

Yeah me too.  Dave's shows have that organic quality where interesting branches can still form from old tree trunks.

I'm just offering advice. I've made it known that I don't care for her hosting style but in the end she is human and it's really just getting sad at this point.

She still has a chance to reinvent herself, public personalities do that all the time.  She can drop the whole AB Legacy thing and all that surrounds it, take a break perhaps, then start her own podcast with a new name, new bumpers, new promos, etc.  She can still take whatever she learned from AB with her, but just do a total reset.  Or she can just double-down again.

Where bigfoot in general loses me is that surely by now someone would have shot one. Still though, when I was a kid in Oregon the local stories were everywhere.

For me the biggest problem with any of the cryptid stories is there should be some kind of minimum population of them to sustain the species.   Wouldn't expect just a handful of them scattered across thousands of miles (unless you go to the inter-dimensional route or such).
