You just triggered an ancient dusty part of my memory which had laid dormant for decades.

I couldn't sleep at night, even way back then.

Oh.  I get you.  I seem to have heard of Blake's 7 but never got the chance to tune it in.  Thanks Juan.

Looks like you can watch it on youtube nowadays. It used to come on PBS at midnight, right after I, Claudius and followed by Bob Ross.
Oh, and then the astronomer from Florida, the Stargazer, Jack Horkheimer. Then PBS would go off air.

I definitely don't remember those shows.

It was the same show-they just kept killing off characters. It was like an early Game of Thrones.

That's a good movie to take a fat girl to.

At least that girl won't say 'no' to popcorn and then get mad at you when you skip buying it.

I would give much more to charity if taxes weren't so high.

Pretty soon. But not soon enough.

NFL. It's not just about the tight ends

I'm glad I'm not a Patriots receiver. The rings aren't worth it.

After the, "As we head into Saturday evening.....Saturday morning" gaff a few minutes ago, it does not appear that the host is keeping track of time very closely.  :(

Now that is a trick I wish I could pull. The weekend is way too short.

Why is The New York Times suddenly advertising on Bellgab?  What is MV up to?

They see your Goldman Sachs avatar and think you are part of the crew.

I'm seeing ads for Walgreens (good deal on ensure nutrition shakes) and Mercedes. I'm not that old yet.

This is key to much of the ME turmoil.  Westerners have no idea what a tribe or clan is.  Except what they learned from cowboy and Errol Flynn movies.  Yet we insist they instantly assimilate our system on their social structure that we are completely ignorant of.  It's like telling people to ignore family and the govt will 'til you who your relatives are.

I've read some Robert Kaplan and he agrees with that idea-in both the Middle East and Balkans.

If you think Turks (or Arabs) have some freedom and liberty heritage, ask a Turkish or Arab woman born before 1980 about it, or a man born to the wrong clan.  Turks aren't nomadic Arabs so I don't know what your camel train comment means.  Democracy and our concept of liberty are still largely unaccepted if not alien.  They get the representative part, but rights and equality stuff are very slow to take hold. We're still at it after 200 years.

Turks aren't Arabs, but there are many nomadic Turks. The Ottomans were just one successful wave of Turkish tribes that took over.

It's hard to get Muslims to democraticize.  They don't believe in complete freedom.  That's why every effort fails over there.  People don't seem to realize that Islam is a political ideology as well as a religious one.

No, incorrect. They love freedom more than they love a house in the suburbs otherwise they wouldn't be rolling around in camel trains for thousands of years. They like government far less than us. There are stories from the Romans about how hard it was to collect taxes and get the Arabs to form any kind of government.

So I guess we can officially declare that bringing democracy to the Middle East has failed.

Mine looked just like this, but without the racing stripes. I think my wheels were pretty much the same as these too. With wide ovals.

That is a good looking car. All the new cars have too much plastic bloat around the rear and front bumpers.

I missed this show too, but I will keep my ears available for this in the future.

I think most modern horror isn't that scary, just lots of loud bangs and things jumping out of the shadows. Too formulaic.

The caller insists he was on the Titanic in a past life. I've actually met a few people that told me they felt like they were on the Titanic in a past life.

Hopefully they get whoever helped this terrorist before your friends get there.

Checked the "Day of Rage" list - my city wasn't listed.   No rage for me.   Guess I'll just go to the
Food Lion and buy beer   8)

I've got summer friday at work followed by some serious yard work. Glad I went to the hardware store today.
What is a "Day of Rage"?

from Zenman's post:

China has lost control of some space module they sent up
"But there are reports China has lost control of the spacecraft, meaning it could crash back into the Earth's atmosphere, exploding into molten metal that could be devastating over inhabited areas.

Metaphysical question:  What happens to the soul, if your body's on ice for a prolonged time?  If you believe in an afterlife, would you be stuck here in a kind of limbo, or would you cross over but get yanked back at some point?

Is the soul effected by temperature changes?
