And return and report, of course.

Jews should be the LAST ones to deny people freedom and treat them as subhuman, while we American human rights advocates look the other way mumbling "it's complicated."
i have jewish friends (some of whom live in israel), and i have palestinian friends.  i talk to both routinely on this very subject.

good luck convincing me it's not complicated.

You people have made me so happy!  I've discovered Coast Gab and realized that I am not the only one who can not make sense of Noory and New Coast Light.  I thought that I was becoming either a senile or hateful person for wanting to smash my radio, until I finally stopped turning it on.  Thank you all for restoring my sense of equilibrium....

it is clear to me. you misunderstood what I meant: the merger resulted in the word "sucks" to disappear from the thread's name.
"Ian Punnett SUCKS!"

but I think it would be smarter to remove the "sucks" from the noory thread headline, because having a dirty word in a sticky topic  - approved by the administration, makes the forum into a fringe project, and prevents any communication with actual C2C staff including hosts and producer.
the forum used to be GeorgeNoorySucks.com.  we scrapped that in favor of coastgab.com after shutting the site down for 3 or 4 months.  that was a huge move toward mainstreaming the whole thing... and i think that's about as far as we will bother to go with it.  i'm not sure how much value there is in the participation of c2c hosts or producers on this site.  if their lack of transparency in the whole "art quits" situation is any indicator, they bring very little to the table.  furthermore, if we start changing things for the purpose of getting "official" participation in the forums, members would be less likely to say what is REALLY on their minds for fear of being censored/banned, etc..  there are already a couple forums where c2c hosts and producers post occasionally, and their participation, even on those forums, is minimal AT BEST.  and look how much ass kissing those forums do in order to get just that smidgen of "official" c2c participation.  a cost/benefit analysis says it's not worth worrying about.

sorry i misunderstood your use of the word "delete."  however, i just want you to understand how i think in the course of running things, here.  i don't care what opinions people have on any subject.  i don't censor anyone opinions, and never have.  the end result of merging that thread might have been the deletion of the word "sucks," but none of the "sucks" posts were deleted, and in the course of reading that thread, a reader would be exposed to every variety of opinion regarding punnett.  if anything, i think i did both sides a favor in the ian debate, because by merging the pro/anti ian threads (of which there were many), readers are exposed to viewpoints they might not care to bother reading or considering otherwise.

it's not popular to say, but i generally don't like police officers very much.  it takes a certain type of personality to WANT to be a cop, and that type of personality is not typically the kind of individual i choose to associate with in my personal life.  furthermore, i've had dealings in the past with our local police department... and i found them to be lazy, uninterested, unprofessional, ineffective meat-heads who probably have fat wives.

i know there are exceptions to everything, and not all police officers are as described above.  i get that.  it's just that i don't buy into this whole, "respect the police" mentality people seem to live their lives by, particularly in the USA.  the ironic thing is that, for the most part, the biggest cheerleaders police have are conservatives.  do they not get the fact that the police are simply an arm of the government?  so much for all of the "government is the problem" philosophy.   aww... shit... i guess the same could be said about liberals though... only it's the inverse.  they hate the cops but love every other festering brown log the government squeezes onto a paper plate.

and ENOUGH of this incessant tasering.  it's being abused by police officers routinely.  there are videos of it ALL OVER THE INTERNET.  go take a look if you don't believe it's being abused.  i guess the idea here is that tasers are intended to prevent police from having to get physically involved in a situation.  i understand that, but i think the evidence shows reality does not run parallel with intent in this instance.  police are tasing first, asking questions later.  and do you remember that kid who got tased for daring to pipe up during some sort of college campus town-hall meeting with john kerry?  here's some skinny college douche, doing what skinny college douches do (and have done for decades), and a dozen police officers can't handle him physically?  they have to tase him?  "DON'T TAZE ME, BRO!!"  you remember that, don't you?  everybody got a nice chuckle out of that phrase, even to the point of printing up t-shirts and bumper stickers donning the phrase, but personally, i found it to be one of the saddest milestones to date in the erosion of our civil liberties.

you deleted the topic : Ian Punnett SUCKS! that's your way of censoring an opinion you probably don't agree with.

i did no such thing.  all ian threads were merged into one ian thread.  that is all.  nothing more.  i don't know how much more clearly i can articulate this for you.

and do you have ANY idea how many posts/threads there are on this site that i don't agree with?  i've deleted exactly ZERO of them.

I think I'll join another forum as you suggest, since people here don't seem to discuss very much except when it comes to ridiculing guests and Noory. While this is entertaining for a while, it's not enough.

you don't seem to discuss very much, either... unless it's something discussed first by alex jones.  sorry if this seems rude to say, but repeatedly parroting his meanderings isn't especially impressive to me.

oh, and if you don't like this forum, no need to advertise your departure.  i certainly won't be talking you off of any cliffs.

i used to believe oswald probably never fired a shot in dallas.  i'm not so sure about that any longer.  either way, i'm not sure what this document necessarily proves (other than the fact oswald was trained by the cia).  nor am i surprised by it in any way.  it does add credibility to certain lines of thinking, but it doesn't prove anything.

Radio and Podcasts / Re: Art Bell Quits Coast
February 09, 2011, 10:30:55 AM
i don't know if this angle has been examined yet, but here goes...

there is no way art is coming back.  i don't think anybody would have him.  hear me out.

first off, whatever relationship art once had with premiere radio appears now to have disintegrated.  for clues as to whether or not this is true, go back and read this thread again.

second, i can assure you art no longer has what it takes to build a distribution channel of his own as he did in the early 90s.  not going to happen.  it was intensely difficult work when he did it, and even more so today because the radio business is so consolidated and locked up.

the charred relationship with premiere and the difficulty in forging ahead solo on the distribution side leave one option:  finding a new network to carry art bell.

but who would have art?  if you were the head of a network, would you put your eggs in his basket?  i hate to say it, but i certainly would NOT hire art if i were in a position of accountability.  art might have drawn a lot of water at premiere, and specifically within the c2c production machine, but outside of premiere and c2c, he's probably seen by executives as a volatile former radio host who abandoned his show multiple times for multiple reasons.

as a network head, are you going to invest the man hours required to sell art's new show to advertisers?  are you going to risk the dollars required to promote a show hosted by art bell?  October 13, 1998... retirement.  April 1, 2000... retirement.  October 23, 2002... retirement.  July 1, 2007... retirement.  November 1, 2010... de facto retirement.  you mean to tell me you would invest in this man?

i love art as a host.  i love what he did in radio.  along with rush, i think he's the most talented radio personality of our time.  however, he's a risk from the business end of things.  while we're all sitting around hoping some network picks art up, we're forgetting to see things from the perspective of the suit who writes the checks at XYZ network.  i think the notion of signing art would be irresponsible on the part of any executive who answers to a board of directors.

none of this matters at all, though, if art doesn't WANT to join another network... and i see no evidence to suggest he does.  sooo... in the UNLIKELY event art wants another swing at bat, i think his chances of being allowed back in are slim to none.

The House just voted to block the extension of the USA PATRIOT Act. Nobody thought this was possible, but you and more than 55,000 other Demand Progress members have signed our petition urging members of Congress to vote against the extension.
Now, more than ever, we need people to keep the pressure on -- will you click here to ask your friends to sign on too?
The momentum is on our side, but the fight isn't over yet:  The House leadership is almost certain to try again to pass the extension, and the Senate is likely to take the bill up next week.
We need to urge others to get involved right away.  Will you click here to forward the petition to your friends?
Let's press forward and win this fight!

i'm a big fan of beavis and butthead.  the series ran when i was 13-17 years old, so i guess i was their intended demographic.  anyway, you can imagine my pleasure at reading this on wikipedia's beavis and butthead page:

On July 14, 2010, it was announced that the series would be revived and begin airing on MTV with new episodes to begin airing sometime during summer 2011. The series is expected to keep its animation style, and to keep Beavis and Butt-Head the same age as they were during the show's original run.[7]
