i don't know.  i live in quintessential middle america (cape girardeau, mo), and recently, i've randomly encountered several people who have favorably mentioned donald trump and the things he's saying about our economic condition.  it's like ross perot - round two.  i know it's only anecdotal, but i'm not so sure the condition of being a billionaire necessarily precludes middle american support.

rush just does not strike me as a narcissist.  oreilly does.  michael moore does.  rush doesn't.  i guess perception is everything.  perhaps your judgement of him as an individual is tainted by your differing political beliefs? maybe?


rush has always come across to me as a normal guy who is immensely talented and found a way to successfully market his talents.  that simple.  i met his mom millie a couple times before she died.  nicest woman in the world.  i've met his brother david in the store a couple times, and he has always been VERY polite (asks questions about YOU, listens to what you're talking about, not self-important, etc.).  the other limbaughs i've interacted with were all fine people, too.  i haven't met rush, but i did pull up next to him at a stoplight one night, haha.  i suspect he's similar to his brother in many ways.


the whole "arrogance" thing rush is always pegged with is a deliberate put-on.  for instance... when a caller says, "it's a pleasure to be on the show with you, rush." and rush responds, "i know."  haha, or any number of other examples.  it's a gag.  i never understood how people could fail to catch that.

i thought his show was a fantastic example of the splendor that can unfold when a man of vision is given the tools necessary to articulate the nuance of his curiosities.  it was a benchmark production, the existence of which i feel privileged to have been apprised of.  after having witnessed this milestone in human understanding and perception, i've resolved to discard my entire art bell collection... for its luster is somewhat lessened of late.

i would send him a magic 8 ball which could be used as an equally entertaining/informative/accurate replacement guest when the phones drop or when a guest booking falls through.
